Im switched from sony xm5 to bose qc Ultra and I found it was the right choice, qc ultra so comfy for long hour flight compare to sony xm5 ❤

I paid £330 for Bose ultra. Still more than Xm5’s here at £275. But listening to b&w px7 s2e was really pleasing, more than the others so I think b&w if you after sound quality at £379. Nice video

Had the Max. Used for 9 months and then sold them. Too big and heavy. Got the Airpod Pro 2 with there money and had some left over Now I'll be getting there Sennheiser. Sound quality is my main concern. Comfort is second and everything else doesn't matter much

I got a renewed set of Sennheiser HD450BTs for $90 renewed and a set of aftermarket earcups for like $13. It would cost me 2 or 3 times that for a set that sounded noticeably better than them. Being on disability I don't have much money.

Very nice comparison and I loved the accompanying video of people wearing the different products (looks like it is in Amsterdam). I love the materials and design of the Apple, but when I recently listened to it I found the sound particularly boring. As a former Bose employee I know I am not completely independent when my preference goes out to that brand. I have become increasingly interested in Bowers & Wilkins though, because apart from the beautiful design I would like to listen to its sound quality. And there is a follow-up available of it: the B&W Px7 S2e. One final small language comment about the end though: the next edition of a product is not predecessor, but successor. ;-) Keep up the good work and I look forward to your new reviews. I have the airpods max, I mostly listen to happy hardcore and techno music. The bass for me on them is good enough but not as good as the Sony or Bose. Hope Apple update them to USB-C this year or next year.

I’ve been testing the XM5 vs QC Ultra Vs Momentum 4 the last 2 weeks. Here’s my opinion. Momentum 4s easily the best sounding. Obsessed with the sound here, so much bass and clarity, especially considering the price. The main issue I had was comfort. The earpads got too warm and slightly itchy and after about an hour I wanted to take them off. ANC is just ok. Touch controls are too sensitive and they tend to turn on by themselves sometimes. Bose QC Ultra: Good sound, but less punchy/energetic sounding than M4s. EQ is weak, but I could live with the sound quality while not being amazed with it. Most comfortable of the 3 and I like the build quality the most. ANC is good, but transparency mode has a constant white noise sound that never goes away and when listening to quieter music like film scores I find this irritating enough to want to take them off. For the price it’s just not worth buying IMO. XM5s: Found them oddly comfortable. While the Ultras have more ear space I find the earpads on the XM5 are satisfying to the touch and they are so light. ANC and transparency is amazing and there’s 0 white noise sound. Sound quality out of the box seemed shockingly bad at first, however, they really do have the best EQ and after spending some time tweaking to my liking I actually really like the sound here. I crank the bass, dip the mids a touch and crank the treble. Somewhat close to the “Excited” preset. Might sound like a strange EQ, but I’m telling you this makes EDM sound great and gives the bass that “live concert” energy/feel to it that I love. Though the M4s still dominate here as they really have unmatched bass. Overall I went XM5. I just find myself wanting to wear these all the time and the other 2 have reasons that make me want a break from them. Since I’m mainly wanting these for work I need to be able to wear them several hours. If the XM5s had the sound of the Momentum 4s and the build quality/extra ear room of the Ultras I think these would be the perfect set of headphones. Also, Sony has the best app. I really like that it tells you the decibel level and how long you can listen at those levels really prioritizing ear health.

@@hnd13for the environments and sounds I was trying to block out (fans, vacuums, leaf blowers, cars) I feel like the XM5s were better. Didn’t do a lot of testing with people talking, except in the office which isn’t too loud and I still thought the XM5 was better. Apparently my girlfriend tried to speak to me a few times when I had the Sonys on and I had no idea lol. Also if you ever plan on using your headphones purely to block out noise with no or very low volume music the XM5s are silent and the Bose still have a slight white noise sound even with ANC on; much worse white noise with transparency mode though.

1 additional comment about the Bose that I really disliked was the controls. Basically 1 physical button to do almost all of the functions (so much slower than touch control) and worst of all you hear a loud clicking noises right in your ear every time you press it. Ended up just not using it and controlling playback with the connected device.

@@kaushiksarkar6290definitely. But I based my decision on how they feel on my head and not in my hands. I find them incredibly comfortable as they are so light. Bose is just about as light with better quality materials. Sony could take notes there. Just can’t tolerate the white noise with the Bose or I might have picked those instead.
