The algorithm has blessed me with this important video on animation mistakes. I really need to stress the importance of storyboarding. Having a clear plan like that is essential, especially so that you can tweak it at an earlier stage instead of having to redo everything because you realise something won't work by the time you're making what would have been the final animation cels. Turnarounds are important too, it at least should get you closer to drawing your character more consistently at a given angle. Some of these tips are even more important if you're working with multiple other animators. Good direction in general is very important for consistency there, provided everyone is good at following directions.
