Iceland isn't perfect. Far from it. Here is a list of things tourists hated about their trip to Iceland according to the tourists them selves. Iceland is mostly good though. Just saying.
Sorry @ChaseNunes for hanging up on you. I could have talked longer but, I didn't want to.

I traveled there in July/August. I didn’t like the continued rudeness from retail workers. A lady in front of me in line at a bakery in Vik, asked if they had anything with an egg. The gal ripped into her and said no. And I had problems in the shops. I spent 6k on my trip, I don’t deserve to be with such rudeness.

Thanks for the all the great advice. We visited in mid February and had a wide range of weather conditions. We were fortunate to have great conditions on our south coast tour, so the waterfalls, diamond beach, black sand beach and ice cave excursions were fantastic. And the sky was perfectly clear for an amazing northern lights display. On the only day with truly bad weather, we stayed in Reykjavik and walked though the wind and snow to see some of the sites. The next day was warm and we got shopping done. The most impressive thing about the trip was the food! Every meal was different, but all of them were excellent. Even the other tourists were pleasant. 😀

On our trip back in 2016 we went full circle except for the Westfjords and we tried to see as many things as possible in only two weeks. We saw so much but I know if we are to go again, we'd stil have so much to see. I also can't complain about the food, I'm vegan and I actually gained 2 kilos there. In many places there were more plant options than in my home country, Slovakia. That leads me to the no.1 reason, yeah, I hated leaving. So now I know why. Also everyone was super nice to us, although one of our hosts, when he came back home and found us in his kitchen greeted us with "Oh, you're still here?" But of course, we all laughed about it. Other host even gave us a big bag of cucumbers. Love Iceland and hope to come back someday. ♡

Loved loved Iceland. Just came back from a 14 day life experience! One thing we would beg Icelanders to have…. Are…. laundromats! We got soaked everywhere… and being on camping sites … sometimes, if lucky, there would be 1 washer/dryer for the entire campground. We would have to wait until around 2am to see if they would be free. Once we slept in the floor next to the machines to keep our place in the line. We were later told that some larger cities do have a laundry 🧺 service… but when one looks for “laundromat nearby” nothing other than a restaurant in Reykjavik comes up. This may be a lucrative business for an entrepreneur…. We would’ve paid anything to dry up our soggy clothes 😵‍💫

You didn’t mention the smell. I love fish and lamb, the weather didn’t bother me, even the staring of the local didn’t bother me --but that all pervasive sulfur smell in the air and in the water bothered me just a little. You can’t really get away from it. It smells as if you’re in a room where someone has recently farted. That being said, I loved Iceland and would love to go back- I especially loved Snaefellsnes..

You went to London. Central London! Fish and chips are a bit cheaper outside of central London. There are daily flights to Manchester from Keflavík. Should have come here. I love Iceland and have been going there since 1997 when my kids were little. I won't be a hypocrite and complain about the bloody tourists but I WILL say I'm so glad I got to see it before the tourist explosion. I got to swim in the Blue Lagoon when it was in a different place (just up the road) and there was just a wooden building with a shop and some changing rooms. There weren't many other people there and they were mostly Icelanders. When we went to Gullfoss there were only the four of us plus a young German couple. No buildings, just a shelter with an information board. Happy days.

We spent a month in Iceland last summer. A great experience. I recommend the Whale Museum in Husavik. The westfjiords were incredible, trekking in Hornstrandir Park in the very northwest corner. My favorite museum was the museum of everyday life in Isafjordur. Very small, but it made a huge difference to our trip that we visited this museum on our second day. The biggest thing I hated about Iceland. The rental car had crappy tires. Comments on your list: 5) Bring on the loneliness. We visited Iceland in September. We were up and out on the road around 7am every morning. We were at most places before tourists arrived. 4) N1 Hot Dogs were amazing. Beer was over priced. 3) Crappy tires was more of the problem. We got a flat from a rock smaller than a pea. If the Land Rover had better tires, it would not have caused a flat. 2) We are already planning our next visit!!!!! 1) We had AMAZING weather. Most days were high temps of upper 50s Fahrenheit. The night before we left had gale force winds. Iceland is an amazing place.

Just not common enough yet so most people didn't experience them. Those who did most certainly hated them the most I would have thought.

@TimeWarpIceland I didn't know this, but according to the Global Peace Index (GPI), Iceland hold's the world number 1 spot for world's most peaceful nation, and has since 2008, to current year 2023. Anyone surprised? I was, but the more I thought about it, it makes sense!

Not surprised at all. We don't have an army. I'm surprised it's only since 2008. 😅

Love Iceland. Do avoid the west side of Dettifoss, though. Rangers become extremely unfriendly, if not aggressive if you don't follow their overly strict rules to the point. Visit the eastern side of Dettifoss which has no rangers or barriers (at least not in 2019). It's up to your own responsibility and assessment where you go and how close you approach any cliffs. Stay safe !
