Hi everyone! Sorry it's been a little longer for a video, not as much going on right now since we are in the waiting game until we hopefully have our transfer in March.
In this video I give you my top 5 tips for IVF egg retrieval recovery. My experience with egg retrieval was definitely different that I thought it would be. But it was a learning experience. I hope some of these tips will be helpful for any of you about to have your own egg retrieval.
Everyone's experience is different but I think over all most people would benefit from thinking about these things before going into an egg retrieval procedure, so they are more prepared for recovery.
Please share your top tips! I'd love to see what has helped others :-)

Same as you, I also assumed that recovery from my egg retrieval wouldn’t be so bad. The day of the retrieval, I was in so much pain. It hurt to pee, sit, walk etc. Today is the day after the retrieval and I’m feeling better but still have so much pressure, bloating, pain when I sit. I’m so thankful that I took a few days off afterward!

I cannot say thank you enough for sharing your experience. This video was so helpful to myself and my wife during day two of her recovery. It gave us so much comfort that you guys experienced similar symptoms.

My doctor did not warn me about swelling or anything. I did research on IVF and never came across anything about recovery after egg retrieval. I do not know how I managed to be so uneducated about this part but unfortunately I was hit with the worst of it. My bloating and swelling have gotten worse since surgery and my doctor says its normal for some people. I am on pain meds and can barely eat anything. I hope people find this video BEFORE doing egg retrieval so they can be more prepared than me. Luckily I have my husband. I highly suggest stocking up on a fiber supplement and foods high in fiber no matter how healthy you already eat. ssl

I did get a warning either. I’m sorry you had such a bad experience. I feel like you just never fully know how you’ll feel afterwards. Some people are fine and it’s not that bad when others have a lot more pain, bloating, etc.

Yes the gas! The breath thing I got the first day. Its like air was stuck in my rib cage and hurt to breathe deep. I was only taking Tylenol. I had mine this past Monday and today is Friday. It may also depend on how many follicles and if they went after both ovaries. For example I only have 1 ovary so didn't have pain on my other side. I'm doing better, but this afternoon the gas pain came again. My heating pad has been my best friend. Thankful I'm over all doing good. God bless ladies.

before, during and right after the surgery was amazing, and pain only came after 6 hours. 8 hours after the egg retrieval the worst cramping hit me, and sharp labor pain like in intervals and i was on the floor in fetus position and cold sweats and lasted about 3 hours. i thought about calling embulance but went away eventually(3-4hrs), and i had 5 days of intense cramps, but day 6 everything became normal, i wish someone has told me it will be this painful....(19 eggs) i'm not gona lie pain was horrible from my experience, and i'm 110ib.

The day of my retrieval was OK until the night. I was waking up in stabbing pain for 10days hours. My stomach was full bloated. The only way to got away was with painkillers. I felt so miserable.

I’m having my egg retrieval tomorrow morning, and this was so helpful. Thank you! Did you have much pain before the surgery? I can hardly walk from how tender my ovaries feel right now, but I haven’t seen anyone else say much about the pain they had before surgery.

The operation doesn't hurt. Make sure you are comfortable. But the recovery part yeah I agree with all the lady's. I just had my second egg retrieval. Absolutely forgot that I be okay in a few days. My recommendations is to relaxs and rest. I'm on my 4th day of recovery and peeing does hurt. But lot less if you keep your fluids up. A heating pillow or a hot water bottle helps. Also I had to take laxative tables to release the constipation Recommendation don't eat too much.

If you're using your own eggs during IVF, at the start of a cycle you’ll begin treatment with synthetic hormones to stimulate your ovaries to produce multiple eggs - rather than the single egg that normally develops each month. Multiple eggs are needed because some eggs won’t fertilize or develop normally after fertilization. You may need several different medications, such as: Medications for ovarian stimulation. To stimulate your ovaries, you might receive an injectable medication containing a follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), a luteinizing hormone (LH) or a combination of both. These medications stimulate more than one egg to develop at a time. Medications for oocyte maturation. When the follicles are ready for egg retrieval - generally after eight to 14 days - you will take human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) or other medications to help the eggs mature. Medications to prevent premature ovulation. These medications prevent your body from releasing the developing eggs too soon. Your doctor will work with you to determine which medications to use and when to use them.

Haha...don’t think so? I usually always where socks because I don’t like putting my bare feet on the stirrups. But don’t remember if they were white.

Did the doctor put you under anesthesia? You're not suppose to drive after you been under anesthesia that's dangerous. Also you're not suppose to put any heat on your stomach. If you need to, you can put an ice pack but never anything hot for the uteris. I think that fainting/dizziness feeling happened bcz of the progesterone and antibiotics. I felt like that a few times after taking my meds and nausea.
@goldiefatale

That is the exact opposite of everything everyone says. You do not want cold uterus syndrome..I'd you have a cyst you use caster oil and heating pads. Keep that uterus warm. Embabies like it warm!!

You can put some heat on the uterus if you are not planning on transferring for a while. Just do not overheat yourself of course just be careful.
