Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the Nintendo Switch brings together everyone’s favorite Nintendo characters such as Mario (Super Mario Bros.), Link (The Legend of Zelda), Samus (Metroid), and Pikachu (Pokemon) in one of the most popular fighting games ever made! The series is further set apart by including a selection of 3rd party video game characters from different franchises such as Persona’s Joker, Street Fighter’s Ryu, Final Fantasy VII’s Cloud and Sephiroth, and Sega’s Sonic The Hedgehog. Most recently the game has been updated to Version 13.0 where Square Enix’s Sora from Kingdom Hearts has been added as DLC to the game!

My absolute favorite part of this is that despite how good these tips are and how fundamental they are to normal gameplay, half of them barely even apply to the person teaching them because of his specific playstyle and he just KNOWS THEM ANYWAY
@tfthief4931
@tfthief4931 7 ай бұрын
It's like with art or writing. You can't make good works of art or literature without the fundamentals, but once you DO know them, you can remix them, fuck with them, and disregard them in the perfect ways to make something truly special. Dr Martin Luther King's speeches have a lot of redundancy and repetitive words, which you're taught not to do so that you don't lose your reader's interest, but he uses that to achieve the opposite effect and have an escalating staircase of emphasis on his words. You need to know exactly what the rules are so you can break them in the most effective manner

One thing I always recommend to players who are trying to improve and are still newer is that they might need to practice looking directly at their opponent's character instead of their own. It took me YEARS to really force myself to shift my focus from tracking my own character's position to watching the opponent. You should be able to be aware enough of your character's position and actions that you can keep them in the peripheral vision at best. Doing that makes it way, way easier to download your opponent's habits, space against them, and figure out what to do next.

Besides auto cancelling to land, its also helpful to know which moves take the smallest time total. If you get sent near the blast zone but dont die, you usually want to get out of tumble as fast as possible, usually with an aerial, so you have all access to all of your characters tools to get back to neutral. So if you're mario for example, bair and up air will be much better to get out of tumble than dair, fair and nair. You should know this for your character.
@ngotemna8875
@ngotemna8875 8 ай бұрын
And there's no need to time it perfectly either. Just hold your c-stick in the direction of the aerial you want to do and your character will perform it the moment it's possible
@Deathraze1
@Deathraze1 8 ай бұрын
@@ngotemna8875if you’re close to the blastzone doing this could potentially lead to you dying where you would have otherwise survived by extending your hurtbox into the blastzone.

Do moves take longer to come out when I'm in tumble or why am I in a hurry if I can get out of tumble with a move? Am I not susceptible to a whiff punish and should therefore only go out of tumble when necessary?
@Joel_Pierson
@Joel_Pierson 7 ай бұрын
@@airhead3409When in tumble you can’t fast fall so you would be limiting your options off stage. Also, typically if you are sent far off stage like the original comment was suggesting it is unlikely your opponent can whiff punish you. Obviously, you should still gauge your opponent’s options and plan accordingly but as a general rule I would say getting out of tumble quickly is a great idea for most characters in this scenario.

I love how, as Lucina, you didn't immediately chase the shiek during the juggles. I do that too, and it's so good for getting extra damage, especially since Marth's up air is so good. I want to start with the fact that I am not amazing at the game. One thing I do punish a lot of people for is when they use the same aggressive (like a buffered option) or landing hitbox. The former (think Squirtle FAIR) is relatively simple to counter if you are in the general proximity and flick shield when in range, and the latter is usually when people will try to land with stuff like joker nair out of a full-hop. Mixing in tomahawk grabs, empty hops and spacing mix-ups is a good way to keep the opponent guessing.

@@Hags_95 •when a character gets hit they can be put into tumble which if they are low to the ground will require them to tech. getting tumble usually only happens past ~10% but will depend a lot on your weight and the knockback of the move you got hit by. •but lets say you have noticed you got sent high enough you don't*have* to tech and could do something like jump instead. you could do that OR if you want to completely remove yourself from disadvantage you could "a land". land with a low lag aerial (usually nair) with fastfall. or you could •auto cancel *best option* usually your dair. pretend you want to throw an aerial but not hit your opponent so you fastfall before the hitbox comes out thats an auto cancel. this is your most useful auto cancel use but some moves like ike side b have window for it after the move is over like you see in the video. your best bet is to look up your characters frame data to find out what is applicable. *ta da*

@@Hags_95 also if you decide test this out for yourself it's actually really easy. the best way to see it without mods is your character with normal aerial lag usually looks like it's laying on the ground for a quick sec because of lag. you won't see this in an auto cancel. (this is most obvious in aerials with high lag like dk fair)

1. This I'm super guilty of. I just want back on stage, I'm not HORRIBLE with it, if I get juggled I'll stop, but later I'll go back to it. Something in my brain says "You have a DAir for a reason. Use it" despite being wrong. 2. I'm pretty good at this! At least for my not-tourny skill level. 3. I'm pretty good at this. I LIKE to jump, but I won't do it if the opponent is coming. Only if they are far away or as a mix up to go higher. 4. Full depends on my mood. If I'm annoyed I fall into this trap, but generally I'm pretty good at staying conservative. 5. Nope. I ain't got the time for that. If I ever wanted to go to a tourny or even just try-hard friends I would, but Smash is not m try-hard game.
