In this week's episode, I'm going to be talking through the 5 vehicle modifications I have grown to love over the last 5 years of Overlanding. Sometimes you modify a vehicle in a certain way and it doesn't work out, which I'll cover in next week's episode. But in this one, I'm going to talk about the 5 mods I'll always make to all future builds.

What's up bro. Been loving on your channel especially since I'm in the D41 Frontier. Got myself the 2022 Frontier Pro-4x in the green color and love it. And I'm digging your videos! Helping me make some decisions on what to do to enhance the off-road/overland experience. First thing I have done is get the ARB diff cover since the one from factory is leaking and the sealant is bad.

What's up! Appreciate it! I love the green 3rd gens. Great color, but they literally only had gray ones when I bought my truck so I had no options, haha. I've heard that about the diffs and I'm keeping my eye on mine but no problems yet. I'm going to be working on a revised vehicle walkaround in the next couple of weeks because I've switched up a decent amount of my gear so keep your eyes open for that. Welcome to the channel and the Nissan fam!

Canadian Cuisin does a good video on the ARB diff install. I'm looking at that as well.

@@kyleseaverson5178 Yeah! One of the few 3rd gen guys out there, :D. I watch a lot of his stuff. I'm hoping I don't have to worry about it for a while as I'm not wheeling super hard, but it may happen.

@@AllThingsOverlanding Yeah you, him, and D41 Mallcrawler. It's nice that you're all doing things a little different which I can compare/contrast. 😉 I will do mine proactively because my Xterra is all armored up and we'll be taking both rigs on the trails. Just waiting on the trails locally to open up to take the Frontier on a shakedown run before I start building out the overlanding side of it.

Not sure about Nissan but the diff breather on my 4Runner was a one way valve meaning it only let hot air out. The problem that casues is when you go thru cold water and the diff gets rapidly cooled down it wants to suck air in causing a failure at the weakest point which is usually axle seals. That is why I added a 2 way valve on my rig and moved it into the cabin area

Pretty sure ours is the same and it's located right on top of the axle, so if not vented up higher, that's when the risk occurs. Pretty easy, inexpensive fix compared the the alternative, :D.

Just curious when u click the link for your ARB diff kit, there is a prompt under it saying it DOESNT fit a 2023 Frontiers? Is that the same one you got? Love the content as a got a Baja Storm 4X and always listen to your content for ideas or helpful discussions/content

Thanks and glad it's helpful! Yeah, I used that one and it was "universal" and worked fine. It includes several options for different axles and one of them worked in mine. Pretty sure the axles from 2nd gen to 3rd are the same too. It had a fitting that fit in the stock axle.

You've touched on it slightly, but I will always have an aux battery designed into a rig. I know alot of people like having an all-in-one portable system (like a jackery) and that is a good option just starting out, but I prefer running my wires and outlets to where I need it. Charging is really dependent on your type of overlanding. Tend to always be moving each day on the trails so I go primarily dc-dc charging, but if you sit at times solar is a better option. I'm going to incorporate both this build. I have shifted alot of my gear to reflect the 12v world, so I try convert from batteries (even AC items) to USB charging and 12v options. I do try and keep options (my headlamp can run AAA batteries if all else fails) but having everything charging off the truck or aux battery has been amazing.

Totally agree. I think if you're more of a weekend warrior and need to haul family or other stuff then a portable power bank makes sense for it's ability to be moved (or removed). But I'm like you where I just like to have everything in the truck and ready to go at a moment's notice. Also, have the dual battery, solar topping it off, and the fridge has been pretty great. I bought some food while traveling for work last week for mother's day and was able to throw it in my fridge while I traveled and then unload it when I got home and, while that has nothing to do with overlanding, it was still super convenient and a nice thing to have as a result of having an overlanding rig as a daily, :D.
