The astronaut unleashed an extra 80 feet on my drive instantly. I love the disc and it is extremely reliable for me! I actually recommend it to any beginners ready to disc up but aren't ready for something overstable.

The beast is an awesome disc. The only problem is that it's outclassed by every other disc for specific shot shapes. Hyzers can be handled by wraiths, destroyers, thunderbird. Straight shots by wraiths , valkyries, maybe even teebirds. Turnover/anhyzers by sidewinder, Tern. But if I had to build a super small bag I'd consider the beast for the distance driver slot

Future idea for videos. Pick out the Five Best and Worst discs from each company i.e. Innova, Discmania, Discraft, Trilogy Discs, etc.

I laughed when I saw the number one disc, as I do have an Astronaut that I occasionally bag. The plastic on mine seems to be extremely durable. The disc flies exactly like the flight numbers say and I love it for that. It really bombs! But I agree about the inconsistency in the mold, as my son-in-law and his friend both purchased one and they were really over stable! The difference that I could see, was that theirs were pretty pop topped and mine was fairly flat. They couldn’t believe how straight mine flew, LOL.

I really don’t get the hate on the Active line from Discmania. It’s clearly something targeted to beginners or noodle arms who want a disc they don’t have to spend $20 for. I’ve been throwing the Genius the awhile in the Premium plastic and it has hit plenty of trees and holds up just fine. It is a hyzer flip machine and holds the turnover line great. Lost one in the woods once and was glad I only had to shell out $15 to replace it.

Destroyers are by far my favorite disc ever!!! I love when they make different runs, help fit all the slots I need it for! When you find a good run you have to buy as many as you can, because they might be different next time…

The active line plastic is not bad. I have multiple molds that are barely beat in after about 6 months of heavy use.

I threw a beast as one of my first discs. Absolutely loved it. Hated the wraith when I started tho. I know people adore that so take this with a grain of salt

Way to many beginners buying disc like the destroyer and other wide rim high speed max distance drivers and expecting it to fly like the pros lol!!! Form and technique are everything in disc golf! It took me hundreds of man hours to learn a professional quality shot that goes 450ft! My best recommendation, bye lower speed fairway drivers and mid range disc. Watch some pro tips on KZfaq and practice your form! After your comfortable throwing a disc then move up to distance drivers. Do not even play with max distance drivers until your form and technique is good enough to throw 300+ ft! Bye a leopard, eagle, or teebird learn on these for drivers. Buy a Roc or Buzz for mid ranges and pick up at least three putters! You won't need any other disc until you've mastered these!!! My personal opinion anyway much love ✌️

I really like my champ destroyer and beat in champion beast, those are two of my farthest flying discs, I suppose it’s different for everyone, and I haven’t tried another one of either disc so I’m not sure about the consistency

The dragon isn’t a distance driver, definitely labeled as a fairway driver. I personally bag a dragon and it’s really good at being a really understable disc with a slight fade left but only if you have the right height

Almost every disc I pull out of the trees or water is a destroyer. I've had several they are trash.

Not me owning and enjoying both the Beast and the Astronaut 🤣 I admit the Beasts are insanely different between plastics, but the champion is real good. I also like my Astronaut, as it feels maybe more like a -3 turn. Anyways, thought that was funny

The destroyer is, by far, the most overrated disc ever. The lack of consistency, the lack of true glide with most, and the inability to find 2 similar even in the same run at times means you either end up with a thrower or a Stiletto.

I love my Innova Beast in Champion plastic. My buddy has the DX version and it is not so good. You were right assuming that might be the case.

When talking about inconsistency Innova takes the cake as a manufacturerer. Any mold above 4 speed is all over the place for them.

I like how multiple discs get railed on for inconsistencies yet the Destroyer gets a pass because it’s the OG OS distance driver. Seems legit.

I got a majesty in a discmania mystery box and it fly amazing and doesnt have a bubble top. However i got a second one in a random mystery box and it was horrible huge bubble top and flys not like the original i got.

Innova honestly sucks when it comes to consistency. I sware they fill in the flight numbers before they mold a disc. Like they have to fill a hole

I'm not sure why people hate the Dragon so much. I loved it back when I was in middle school and high school. It does literally exactly what it claims to do. And the Beast is great. Champ ones are more common and significantly beefier, so maybe that's why beginners struggle so much.

Firm believer in you get what you pay for when it comes to discs. Cheap plastics shouldn't have an effect on overall disc ratings. Throw a better plastic and you'll more than likely start liking your discs more. That bring said some molds are feel terrible in your hands and don't fit into a slot you need in your bag. I have to say the beast and majesty don't belong on this list there are far worst drivers out there.

I love champion grooves 🤷‍♂️ You can line drive boom them forehand 10ft off the ground dead straight for 400ft. Send them all to me 🤷‍♂️

I have an old DX Beast handed down to me that is literally the flippiest disc I've ever touched, for about a summer it held the straightest hyzer flips to flat and carried forever but quickly got gobbled up by either wear or my growth in backhand arm speed.. if not for the memes it carries I wouldn't even have it anymore

Friend of mine has a Basalisk and on one hole of our local course, threw it into a headwind and even as a Novice, he threw it and it just spun like crazy due to the understability. Which I'm sensing a theme in this video with all discs basically understable.

If you like the Beast, but wonder if there is a slightly better version, then you need to try the Infinite Discs Aztec. It gets insane glide and holds up better to torque. The consistency between runs is for whatever reason vastly better on that mold. I bag multiple and love that discs.

I feel like a lot of people bag the Astronaut because they have no choice. Right now it fills a gaping hole in Discmania's lineup. There is no understable distance driver in the Evolution line and the Originals line TD has been out of stock and out of production for a really long time. Discmaniacs seeking a turning driver have no options beside the Astronaut.

I find it hysterical when inconsistent throwers talk about inconsistent flights of a particular disc. it's absurdly laughable...

The Freedom was one of my favorite drivers when I started out, I could get some real good distance with it

Astronaut bombs…I’ve been playing for years and got one in a mystery box. It immediately became one of my straightest and furthest flying in my bag. I lost it in the water on a crazy windy day and immediately replaced it with a new one…that flies exactly the same as the original. I highly recommend it to people with 350’ distance and want a bomb hyzer flipper

I can say this: in the Charlotte area I have found at least 10 beasts in the woods at courses and it’s my favorite disc to sell back to stores when I’m getting new ones. Unbelievably inconsistent molds and no two Beasts are anything alike if you ask me (I have one Champion beast that’s very overstable that I do occasionally bag however).

"inconsistency" is something cited by people who can't consistently throw the disc in the same way. To say the Destroyer is overrated is to admit you can't throw a destroyer with any sort of confidence lol

destroyers aren’t a disc for everyone but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad discs. destroyers are for your above average player who want that extra distance, but it takes lots of arm speed to get there. i think it’s a good disc for good players

Been playing for 18 years. Already had many discs. One major issue is inconsistent molds also the break in on the disc. I love a champion beast but when it breaks in it's outta the bag. Also plastic is an issue sometimes. I bag four wraiths and they are all four different weights and plastics. I'd also like to say a no destroyer is like another. Crazy disc. I bag two. But what's good for me may not be good for you. Also your throw is always evolving so discs may turn out to be better or worse with time. Love the video. Keep Discn'!

Thing about the Astronaut, is it isn't inconsistent, each colour it comes in is a different stability. Nothing inconsistent about the each colour having a slightly more or less stability.

Found a astronaut on the course, was asked by someone on my card to throw it on a whim, threw it 550ft my previous distance record was 350.

I guess it has a purpose by being a meathook, but the Innova Vulcan for a 13-5-(-3)-2 was just so strange and hard to throw. Mine also had a rly rough edge on the bottom of the wing that ripped my hands up. I also love my G Star Beast so that was a bit surprising.

Those Active Premium discs (not so much the Active base plastic) vary wildly in "domeyness" based on color/run. The yellow ones tend to be the flattest from what I've seen. Maybe you don't have rows and rows of them over there, but here in Finland they are currently abundant in all the supermarkets. You have to be mindful of the kind of dome you want before purchasing. Beyond that, not exceptionally terrible discs.

Its a weird situation because more destroyers are made and sold than any other disc. So the chances of the destroyers having more inconsistencies are multiplied and then put under a magnifying glass because it's so popular. But haters gotta hate I suppose 🤷

Destroyers are definitely inconsistent, but I don't really mind. I like being able to have 4 star destroyers in my bag that all fly slightly differently from the get go.

The majesty mold is amazing when done correctly. The first run of the majesty was very consistent. I have owned 5 different 1st run majestys and they have been consistent and amazing, but anything after the first run is very overstable, has no glide and are not worth buying.

Your channel, you can manipulate the polls all you want. But I refused to use the destroyer for the longest because the 3 I threw I couldn't stand. I ended up accidentally getting one without a stamp and absolutely love it.

Destroyers are amazing for stronger arms. The problem is that beginners grab them right away when they should be throwing Orcs and Roadrunners.

Sad but also true how this country annually gets better and more obsessed with "Loving to Hate". So much more energy and emphasis on what we dislike and have disdain for as opposed to what we approve of. Seeing as how inconsistently was a common theme, you should do polls on what disc manufacturers are most consistent and which are least consistent. Seems like the more the sport grows in popularity and financially strives, the less consistent runs of the same disc become. Sorry if you've already done these polls and I haven't seen those results. It's funny because I always have at least one dragon, one astronaut and one beast in my bag at all times But I have noticed that all of them require a consistent release, they aren't forgiving on bad throws.

I throw a 400ft forehand with a corvette. I can throw the halo destroyer 350-370. Halo destroyer is by far the most dependable & consistent disc I've ever thrown. Great in wind as well. Like really great in wind. I think the less power you have, the less you will like the Destroyer. Without heavy spin, it's hard to get the flight. But once you have a good snap, it's a great flex or hyzer disc. You can put tons of anhyzer & it will flex back.

Champ beast is a fantastic disc that doesnt get enough love, and this list adds to it. All it needs is for one of the female pros to bag it and come out with it in color glow or halo plastic. Everyone would rave about how good it is.

Astronaut is the most understable distance driver I've found and it has had a slot in my bag for a long time which I've attempted to replace with a better plastic dist. We'll see if the originals series DD does the trick.

Barry Schultz might have a thing or two to say about the Beast being on this list.

I was looking for a high speed driver that is understand enough for my noodle arm to hyzer flip and I got an Astronaut and it flies like a beefy Destroyer. I even let my big arm friends throw it and they agree, there's no -4 turn on it whatsoever. One of my friends has the exact same Astronaut same color and weight and there's definitely -4 turn on his. He agreed to a trade thank goodness. haha

I throw mainly discmania, and we have a local discmania pro in town. The most overrated in my opinion is the ddx. This disc is so shallow it's borderline impossible to grip it

And people wonder why I only throw Discraft.. consistency, consistency, consistency.

Freedoms are in my opinion by far the best disc DD has made. I don't use one for anything but utility shots because it's so ridiculously understable but it's my "get out of jail free card" and I wouldn't wanna go without it.

I love the destroyer, however it truly is one of the most inconsistent from disc to disc. On the bright side, you can throw only one mold if you try enough discs. Ricky only threw destroyers, he had like 7 in his bag.

I've used 2 dx wraiths so far. No complaints on my end. First one was 1 171 gram. 2nd one is 167. Both fly really nicely. Good balanced disc all the way around nice fade and slight turn makes it ideal for most of my shots off the tee. And yes I concur about the champion beast as well. Great disc.

Dragon is a FAIRWAY driver and I bag it. If you have a modicum of speed control (all y'all young kids overthrow everything) it is controllable and possibly the BEST "constant anhyzer" fairway, I park many holes with it every time.

I love the beast. My dad and I both bag one and they fly pretty much identical. They are both Barry Schultz 2x world champion runs in champion plastic. Idk if that makes a difference, but my first ever ace was with it. Maybe that makes me a little biased, but idc.

it's only anecdotal i know, but i actually aced a 200 ft hole with a cheap ol' dx destroyer on a flex shot a couple of days ago

I love Divergent discs, their new Minotaur is never leaving my bag, neither is their original trio of the Kraken, Narwhal or the Leviathan. The plastic is fantastic thats not the problem, but yeah the Basilisk is definitely a fail of a disc. It just doesn't work at all.

Had a Beast and it was ok as a first disc. Switched to an MPV Wave and never looked back.

IMO, Another honourable mention is the Kastaplast Grym. I don’t think it’s a bad disc, but not what you expect as a distance driver. It is insanely flippy, more than the flight numbers dictate. It does make a good Hyzer flip disc, but it’s not what you expect just by looking at the flight numbers alone.

Oops ... I bag 2 of those choices and I've liked both over the years ... Innova Dragon and the Innova Beast. Each has their spot in my bag for certain throws.

Destroyers are actually bad (the fact that some of them are good doesn't excuse their complete lack of consistency), but hey it's your channel. It's a little confusing when your main gripe on the others (inconsistency) is the biggest issue of the destroyer (and what it is best known for by disc golfers).

I have a pro destroyer and I love it I actually went and a new destroyer just in case I loose the other one

I was spotting at a tags even over the weekend and heard a Junior say they loved their Dragon. So be mindful these are higher arm speeds and advanced players discrediting a disc enjoyed by Juniors and maybe beginning players. Trolls suck and screw up all things.

This channels fan base is very Discraft heavy. Notice their discs never make the worst lists. Lol and just a short few years ago they were considered one of the worst brands.

The Astronaut works way better than the majesty with all the inconsistencies that it can have, the pink ones bomb because they have a little stability but they don't get too overstable, and the out-of-the-box hyzer flip to any angle is quite nice. I guess I must disclaim that I do live at altitude, so understable molds fly much better here. That said, I have been throwing my Astronaut consistently for a season, and I have few complaints about the quality or durability of the plastic itself, although I agree it really doesn't compare to more expensive discs in terms of hand feel or overall resilience. IME the discs are a really great value regardless of the noticeably lower quality.
