i can not put into words the amount of nostalgia i felt watching this. i could almost smell the pizza and feel the sticky, grimy floors from my local arcade while watching this. my dad would take my brother and me every so often to the arcade. back then, or at least where i lived, you could give your kids a handful of quarters and trust that your kids were pretty safe and stay out of trouble. thats what he did. he loved playing the older games, like galaga and pac-man, and my brother and i would go off and play ours. my favorites were the punisher/nick fury and wwf wrestlefest. i could probably buy a house with the amount of quarters i spent playing those two games. i have two kids now and wish there was an arcade to take them to. i really do miss that. sorry for the long post. this video hit me right in the feels.

Too bad there was no Saturn and PS1 port of AvP. Also, Linn Kurosawa was originally going to be playable in Capcom vs. SNK 2, but they no longer have the rights to Linn so they replaced her with Maki Genryusai from Final Fight 2 instead.

Super double dragon is my personal favorite and Till this day is one of the most underrated and less talked about beat em ups of all time, hopefully it’s on this list

If only that game weren’t incomplete. It proves that Double Dragon was meant to be on the SNES and not on the NES.

@@KenMasters. i know I believe the game was rushed into production that’s why there is no visible ending after you beat the game or after you beat bosses at the end of levels that was common in games back then

@@larryconnerjr1835 Yes, *Double Dragon Advance* had sort of the same problem due to memory space limitations in the hardware. Their biggest screw-up is that they could've made a *Double Dragon Advance II,* but ATLUS decided to shoehorn all the stages and enemies from *Double Dragon II: The Revenge* into the first and final GBA game.

20:04 - The Punisher (I can tell just by looking) is a game taken from the same engine that powered Cadillacs and Dinossaurs, my favorite beat em up!

This generation can have their games. Growing up in the 80s and 90s was something else going to the Arcade and seeing all these games ready to be played. Putting down your quarter for your next turn in Street Fighter 2.

I remember playing a football and a hockey game from the devs of River City Ransom where you could beat up other players and every team had its own super powers. I'd say I had a lot more fun with these than with any FIFA or NHL game in the '90s.

This is an amazing list and I love most of these games. The one game I never enjoyed was Double Dragon, I get why it's on the list but just never understood the infatuation. This genre is "trapped in the arcade" more than about any other genre. A few are console exclusives but so many you always only play in arcade or now on MAME.

Cool games. At a recent steam festival, I played the demo of another potentially good game - Arnold Bounty Hunter. It looks more like the first Battletoads - there are not only fights, but also various adventures with platforming, hydrocycles. It also looks interesting. I liked the demo.

You're showing the arcade beat'em up of bucky o hare and describing the megaman clone nes bucky ohare, They're completely different games. The nes one is like megaman it's a platformer and the arcade one is like every other beat'em up.

People we see in beat em ups: Your regular thugs(always easy to Take out) Fat bald guy's who blow fire. The chicks(carry whips electric) Thug captain Sub boss The regular bossess Ninjas Monsters The weapon guy's The firing squad(rare) They come on screen blasting You sometimes run away. Beat em ups were always the same Premise. Walk around beating up or killing Bad guys defeat sub and regular Bosses save somebody.

Hi. Can u help me. I remember one classic Beat'Em Ups game like bad dudes, even the bosses like those on bad dudes. 16 levels, every level has 20 enemies. Every 4-th level ends with boss. I remember 8-th level boss was fire-breathing fat dude, and the final boss was native american with boomerangs. Name of the game?

Is the voice-over an AI generated one??? It was very off-putting and I couldn't carry on watching after Final Fight. BTW, I don't know what version of Streets of Rage 2 you've got there, but it’s certainly not the Megadrive one! The Megadrive version did not have the capability for four players at once ... and Axel Stone has never had purple hair or wore pink clothing!!

These are 'classic games', not 'retro games'. 'Retro' is defined as something new that is made to look/sound like something from a bygone era. So TMNT: Shredder's Revenge is a good example of a 'retro game'.

You are being pedantic. In the context of gaming “retro” is widely used to cover both new imitation of old games/styles, and also the revival and appreciation of them. So much so that new retro games are often given the qualifier “retro style” so as to differentiate them from actual old games.

@@adamkane7513 a woman is an adult female human. female is usually someone born with xx chromosomes. but, in the case of trans women they are also considered female, even when they were born xy instead of xx. i personally wouldnt date a trans woman, but i know that some would. everyone has a right to NOT date whomever they dont wish to date, with no social consequences for it. does that answer your question? i know it wasnt for me, but i like to clarify things for usakistanis.
