There's no particular age needed to appreciate good songs. But people who gained impressionable age during early 1960s like me grew up with Salil sahib's songs and these can never fade out from their memories. Thumbs up for Salil sahib.

everybdy talked abt Shankar Jaikishan , SD Burman , OP Nayyar nd a few others in those days but there were few other guys who created magic ....Jaidev, Madan Mohan , Ravi , Salil Choudhary ....they r valued now after their death .

Who said? Salil da is as popular as shankar jaikishan, sd burman, naushad saab.. when salil da died, naushad saab remarked that one of the seven notes of the music has also died..Hemanta da in all of his interviews used to praise salil da..Rd burman himself was a fan of salilda and his orchestration technique was clearly influenced by that of salil da.. illayaraja used to play guitar under Salil da.. lata mangeshkar named salilda as her favourite composer.. In bengal his songs are popular and legendary, in kerala also his malayalan masterpieces are popular still today..

The immensely famous Madhumati had, among other things, Kumaoni folk music in some of its iconic songs like "Bichuaa...Chad gayo papi bichua." As one from the Kumaon hills, even today these songs take me back to my childhood and revive the sweet memories of the times gone by and near and dear ones who left us all this while. The legendary lyricists Shailendra ji and Yogesh ji also had a big role in the creation of these rare songs. Our salutes to all those geniuses.

I always admire Directors and Music Directors.... they are the one literally foresees how the film, or the music will be before its creation. Rest of the contributors like actors and singers just perform their duties as per the "directions" given by the directors or the music directors, nothing more than that..... Sad part is we always see actors and singers - make them larger than their actual capabilities. Without directors and music directors they are literally big ZEROs. We never see and admire the actual creators like Directors and music directors. Thank you Salil Chaudhari for giving such a beautiful moments in my life by creating these wonderful masterpieces.

Salil saab was a brilliant composer at the same level or even perhaps higher than Madan Mohan , SD Burman , Jaidev , Hemant Kumar amongst the solo composers . He’s one of the immortals listen to his composition on Annadata just breathtaking each song

Actually, this has nothing to do with technology. The available technology of recording in 50s and 60s was quite advanced compared to when the actual playback singing started which was 1935. Technology is always in the forward motion so in that context we can't also say that today's technology is an advanced one because that will be proven false in just another decade. What matters really is how creative you're in the given liberty and the fences of the technology and your own thinking abilities. He was no doubt genius but so is AR Rahman in today's times.

The great Salil Chowdhury Saab was in a class by himself! He had earned laurels for his epoch-making compositions based on folk music spread all over the country! Although, Salilda and Joydev Saab had composed music for comparatively lesser number of films than their contemporaries, still they were able to make a lasting impact on the heart of the connoisseurs of music because of high aesthetic value and rich content of their compositions! Even though the great Salil Chowdhury Saab and Joydev Saab are no longer alive, they will remain alive in the heart of the discerning music lovers forever for their musical acumen and virtuosity! Salilda's composition from the film ' Maya' -- " Aansu Samajhke Kyun Tune Aankhse Mujhko Gira Diya. Moti Kisiki Pyar Ki Mitti Mein Kyon Mila Diya" sung by the great Talat Mahmood Saab and Joydev Saab's composition from the film 'Hum Dono' -- "Hum Zindagi Ki Saath Nibhata Chala Gaya" sung by the great Muhammad Rafi Saab are my all time favourites! Let us stand up and salute both of these stalwarts for their impeccable track record and stupendous contributions to the World Of Music ! - -- Amarendra Borah, Former Commissioner and Secretary, Finance Department, Govt Of Assam (India).

Very true. Salil da and Jaydev have composed some eternally beautiful melodies. The arrangement of Salilda's songs have a charm that is hard to describe - it is musically rich and yet so relaxing and evoke happy and melancholic moods with equal effectiveness. A genius composer indeed. Also let's not forget Yogesh ji's contribution to these songs with poetry that is very poignant, rhyming and approachable to the common man.

An extraordinary but's under-rated genius composer . Very original, very experimental and very melodious. His Bengali songs are of the highest level of creativity and richness. Salil da's composed songs are worth for detailed investigation as several PhD thesis.

True, uses simply whistle in music, skilled like Sachin da n Hemant da. But he was given chance when they were busy. This was not good. Similarly Manna De was mostly used as background for senior citizens role doing actors. Where he was good as Rafi Sb n Kishore Da.

Gone are those days when someone could make any songs like these jewels. No one can now even mimic the equivalent of tip of nail of the artists musicians and lyricists poets and writers of yesteryears. Those times will never come back. And sad thing is that although they and their creations are immortal, I wonder what fraction of future generations will even be aware of these golden eras in the history of India.

His cross contribution to the different languages, particularly from South, is truly stuff of legends. some of his compositions in malayalam are true masterpieces and the moment you take the name of a particular festival or event, Salilda's song rolls off your tongue. And particularly mention worthy is the fact that he used the same music for quite a few of his compositions in multiple languages. i was once surprised to listen to a malayalam song blaring out of a durga pooja mandap, only to listen more closely and make out that it was a bengali song with identical tune. Hats off to Salilda.

सलिल चौधरी संगीतकार तो थे ही बल्कि वे उससे भी बड़े कवि थे। यदि रबीन्द्रनाथ टैगोर को नोबल प्राईज न मिला होता तो शायद सलिल चौधरी बंगला और भारत के सबसे बड़े कवि होते। दुर्भाग्यवश संगीतकार के रूप में उनकी प्रतिष्ठा ने सबसे उनके कवि होनें के तथ्य को छिपा दिया।
