I would imagine that he has to use a reference in order to get that detailed. Most artist are more creative then realistic. He appears to be only realist. I would love to see his work from a creative and realistic perspective other then always replicating a model but either way his talent is exceptional.

私絵の事は良く分からないけど 誰か絵の偉い人だか、芸術の権威が言っていたけど 「絵をまるで写真のように描くのなら、写真を鑑賞すれば良い、そう描かない所に芸術の価値がある」 みたいな事言っていたんだよね その時は 「へーそんなものか、なるほどねー」 と思っていたけど 私はこういう事自分が全然出来ないから 普通に凄いなーと思うんですけどね
