Both come under the jurisdiction of The Director, Special Forces, along with the Special Forces Support Unit and the Special Reconnaisance Regiment. As I explained, in order to get into the SBS individuals first have to pass the SAS selection course. Got that? THEN they have to successfully get through a further 6 months training in maritime warfare before getting into the SBS. By definition, therefore, it is not possible to say the SBS are "outranked" by the SAS. And by the way, although the SAS was created in 1941, the SBS was created even earlier than that, in April 1940. So where do you get your idea from??

Don’t know about other countries, but in the US there’s only 2 Special Forces Units: Delta, and the Green Berets. Everything else from SWAT, to the SEALs are Special Operations. I think the difference is Special Forces take the best from either Special Operations Forces, or Regular Units (ie. Infantry, Law Enforcement, etc.). Just as SWAT is made of the best Police Officers, MARSOC has the best Marines, etc., while Delta has the best Army Rangers, Green Berets, both of which are Specialized Units, and the Green Berets have a lot of Rangers, and Airborne-Qualified Soldiers.

And, however, if you put thousands of billions into a training, the guy supposed to be trained won't be trained better if you give him money. To me, mercenaries fight for money, not the soldiers. Also, USA isn't the most feared, it's the most knowned. Would you be feared if you tell to your ennemy that you're here to make peace without fighting ? Russia is feared, they are not fighting for peace but for victory, so they are not limitated with all those rules USA inflicts to itself, and can be feared.
