Im totally with you when it comes to certain tasks in home repairs. I'm not drilling holes in any strangers house lol, If you mess up, you could end up with a pissy customer that might make you pay for drywall repairs or painting, etc. You could also end up hitting electrical wires, etc. Even TV mounting is risky, that thing could fall off the wall and they'll blame you

Very cool. I've heard of Taskrabbit before but didn't know what it was. I'm looking for things my retired mom can do since she wants to keep busy. She used to clean houses for her friend who was a realtor but he passed away and she is having a hard time finding work since she is not computer savvy. Thanks for the detailed video!

Looking at doing this in my off hours from my full time job. What do you do when there is damage to a product that you are assembling? I try to think about the things that can go wrong before I jump into something new. What do you tell customers who try to hire you for a minor home repair that is actually a major repair?

I was a Tasker and made good money, I was frequently asked about insurance coverage and if anything happened would I cover the cost. So I looked into it and it requires a lot through the state and insurance. I have since stayed out of the tasker game what do you know about this and does it concern you. It seems like it has become a platform for professional companies and not the side hustlers. Any thoughts? I was a handyman doing $23 an hour as a Tasker.

Great video! I haven't signed up for an account yet but I've been doing a lot of random work for friends & need a page to display my reviews. Sounds like TaskRabbit would be better for me than Fiverr. I do organizing/decluttering, OCD cleaning (lol), personal assisting, nannying, catsitting, & tech support, plus some eBay selling. Not too interested in yardwork, furniture setup, rideshare, or deliveries.. (unless the price is right, lol). I'm in L.A. so I think there's plenty of demand around me. I'm surprised gig-ing hasn't taken off yet in Seattle, but maybe it will pick up in the Spring time? I went to UW, don't miss the rain, but I do miss when epic Spring/Summer seasons! When the weather finally starts to warm up, the sun starts shining, the cherry blossoms bloom!!
@Gignation
@Gignation 5 жыл бұрын
KT T nice! There’s definitely a lot of benefits to using the app, for example I got gigs when I was brand new and fiverr can be difficult to pick up clients on.. the weather has definitely impacted I’m sure it will be like other rideshare and pick up in spring!

Hi, as a tasker, how often do you get paid? Weekly, monthly, etc.? On top of the once off $20 fee you need to pay upfront for admin fees, how much does task rabbit take as their cut?
@DJBpartyTV
@DJBpartyTV 4 жыл бұрын
You get paid every 3 to 5 business days after every gig. whatever your rate is set at the company takes a portion from the client not the Tasker. For instance if your rate is set at $50, the client will pay $60... You get the rate that you set.

Trying to set up a residential cleaning biz - sole proprietorship - primarily working for property managers rather than homeowners. Would this app make you interact with homeowners? Going into someone's home sounds scary. You could be walking into a dangerous situation and not even know it. The person could have a criminal history. If it's homeowners, is there any vetting done, background checks?

No. The only way you can bring someone is if the client is looking for more than one Tasker and is asking you for recommendations. However, the person you refer has to be a registered Tasker or you get suspended from the app. All takers go through a background check.

@@michaelcrump7225 I'm trying out some of those truck delivery gigs, but they are not all worth it. If the distance between delivery points is fairly short, I oftern make only $24 and If I have to drive 20 miles each way, plus delivery, the fuel cost, etc. eats into profits. One company asked me to deliver a refridgerator. I ran the numbers and figured I would make about $15 after fuel/maint. and waste 2 hours of my day.
@michaelcrump7225

Jon Watcher I’ll tell you what I tell everyone; you are an independent contractor so you have to be smart. It’s up to you to schedule the right jobs that are best for your situation. I personally never pick up appliance jobs because you’re right, they just aren’t worth it. BUT they are worth it to some people. Second of all I never pick up jobs that are over 10 miles in distance. Unless the payout is ridiculously good and I get to set my rates. Applications like Dolly have set prices for each jobs. Sometimes good sometimes bad. My favorite is task rabbit because you get to set your own rates.. This is the next advice I would give you. Diversify your platforms. I use Dolly, TaskRabbit and PICKUP. Between these three I’m able to get the jobs I want, when I want. A big factor as-well is the market you’re in. I’m in the Seattle area and there are thousands of jobs here. The market is really busy here but that’s because I’m in a busy area. After all is said and done My hourly rate is usually between $35-$85 and hour. It probably averages right around $50 per hour. You also have to invest in yourself. I have a pick up truck van and moving truck I use for the business. So I have the right equipment at the right time. I’ll say it one more time, but I hate hearing people complain about payouts. You get to see the price of jobs before you accept them so if it’s not gonna be worth it to you simply don’t accept it. You might be in a market that doesn’t allow that but hopefully it gets better for you soon. Be smart and hustle.

What are you talking about? If you want to be a part of that company ‘’provided for taskers’’ you will have to pay a price. They will need to background check and make sure you are able to work. They created a platform, app, customer service etc. They also background check that taskers are not bunch of criminals. You want that for free? You will be making tons off of that 25$ joining price after days/weeks whatever. Don’t be cheap ma’am.

alot of this stuff is just corporate propaganda stuff. you go get a loan and a few trucks and hire a few drivers and you can probably get a contract with amazon for real and have a real business, maybe not with amazon they obviously dont wanna pay people for their work.
@Gignation
@Gignation 5 жыл бұрын
There may be a way to get the contract without a loan from amazon. But to buy the vans, equipment etc necessary for an operation like this a business loan would probably be required. I agree that amazon is definitely looking to lower the cost of delivery, flex is currently expensive and the usps isn’t cheap. Whether or not it works out well for business owners who enter this program is yet to be seen.. definitely not an easy business to operate that’s for sure
