Right? I love the energy, got legit chills. I've never done cheer or similar team sports but I've done performing arts and I can appreciate the feel. I did a season of winterline and at one competition our sound amplification wouldn't work, but setup is timed so we had to get on with the show despite no sound being able to come out from the pit percussion mics (so super quiet marimbas, I was on xylo which carries but was still quiet, virtually inaudible vibraphone, and no electric guitar or bass). We wound up doing one of our best performances and iirc we won that show. Our show was very heavy metal/rebelliously themed anyway so our bassist went ahead and unplugged and during his silent "solo" he went up to the tarp line and waved one foot over it in the air, the crowd loved that 😆 It was great. This video gave me mad nostalgia for that day, good times

This makes me almost want to cry thinking about my old cheer career. I'm 31 now so it's been at least 11 years for me. I'm literally calling out ever move while I'm watching and encouraging the fliers that are KILLING it. Lol I was a base and I always flew one girl with spotters because we just had bomb chemistry. She trusted me to catch her and support her and I trusted her to hit every move perfectly with precision and land correctly each time (because I didn't want a broke neck or nose). We worked our assess off and were the biggest showboats on the team too lol serving FACE HAIR LIPS EYES...talking our shit after we landed every stunt, tumble pass, dance routine. Lmao...just unnecessary 😂😂😂♥️
@kellyharris40744 жыл бұрын
Girrllll...me too. I went back to cheer as an alumni at my high school's Homecoming game this year & was in happy tears before and after. I also got to crown my niece bc I was Homecoming Queen 20 years earlier. Dear Lord... I don't want to be THAT old😭😭. My son cheers competitively and just made the Varsity & Competition squads for his upcoming freshman year of high school. I can't believe my only "baby" will be in high school! When I learned I was having a boy 14 yrs ago, I thought that was the end of cheer...but he's an amazing gymnast and cheer was just a natural next step. They should definitely make competitive cheer for adults a "thing".

I have always loved cheer. I was never signed up for it bc a girl I was friends with went to a really bad gymnastics place and was hurt almost every week. I also went to an expensive preschool and my mom ran her own business. I know a lot about cheer and wish I could compete. But my friend loves cheer so much and I found a new love helping her practice and cheering her on from the crowd.

Boys in middle school would say that to my friend and one time I said "4 square is not a sport but you still act like it is. And if you don't stop harassing her, I'll make slapping you across the face a sport so be quiet." Long story short, I scared the crap out of them (bc I'm taller than all of them and can take them out at the knees) and they stopped.

I'm so impressed with this sport that I only know from american movies (I'm from France). I'm wondering: who are the men in blue shirts in the 2nd routine? Here to catch a girl if she falls / something goes wrong? Are they part of this team or do they help all the teams that day? Is it something usual? I never saw them before, maybe I wasn't paying enough attention ^^
