Imo the best sounding electronic is the most recent from the past 5 years or so. Production technology has really come a long way. 3D Reworks by Max Cooper is like a showcase of all the best electronic sounds you've ever heard, pretty mind blowing with good headphones. (Edit: Lmao, guess I should've watched the first 5 mins before commenting) I also have to recommend Velocity: Design: Comfort. by Sweet Trip, I'd consider it a bucket-list worthy electronic album.

Hearing Biosphere by Substrata, The Orb by UFO and Monolake by Silence was shocking to say the least. These three projects (along with Boards of Canada) are truly legends in electronic music.

Can't believe that a list like this has been compiled without the mention of Infected Mushroom 😮 Their album "Converting Vegetarians II" is a reference point for electric music for many where I roam. And it's not just "test sounds" they actually are making high quality music, if you are into the genre of course. Give it a try, if you haven't heard it 😊

Thanks for the video and thanks to everyone that contributed! Marian has quite a few nice sounding albums / eps. I'd also like to mention Cody High - Kissing Street but I've no idea of the Genre lol. Been listening/testing a lot to My Nirvana by Redi Hasa. Some great tracks on that...completely different genre of course. Looking forward to some funk suggestions. I do love a bit of funk.

This was full to the brim of great recommendations, many of which are albums or even actual artists that I wasn’t familiar with. Your comments on the Mitch Murder album were absolutely fair, and the inclusion of my suggestion was appreciated. I think the album was 2021 though, but he was born in ‘79. He does do a lot of 80’s-style focussed music.

Everyone commenting album suggestions is great, this is the motherlode of good advice for new exciting stuff to check out. Has anyone suggested an album called ‘Fever Daydream’ by The Black Queen? Because that was very nearly my recommendation. Another well recorded album from a supergroup type side project made up of a NIN member, a Dillinger escape plan member and another guy, it’s really good.

I circled back to some records knowing what you value for testing system's, namely the blend between acoustic, electronic and vocals (preferably natural). I think Wonder Where We Land by SBTRKT is a great mix in this regard. Many great tracks, I personally like Temporary View with Sampha on guest vocals. Wondering what you think?

Really enjoying this track recommendation series! You should also consider doing one for Reggae. Not what people think about when testing, but there are some great tracks to discover. Two super fun examples: Jamming(12"version) By Bob Marley on the Exodus album. Prediction(12"Mix) By steel Pulse on the Handsworth revolution album. Incredible thing is they are 50 year old recordings!

Just listened to “the day I never had” by deaf centre.. one of those moments I dead set though my 4 yo daughter was opening her door at the end of the hall.. paused it to tell her to go back to bed and realised it was the recording lol😂

I have seen your review of the Radon 6 5 times now but I didn’t get why you really like it in the end. Like what did you feel that made think RN6 was absolutely worth the money? For the energizer part you mention that the RN6 didn’t need an energizer to sound good is their sound that of a next level ??

The Radon 6 just does everything perfectly IMO. Staging is large and with well defined image placement. Tonality is spot on (and tuneable). Refinement and quality of all frequencies is excellent too. Basically, they just hit all marks perfectly and it's perhaps what they don't do (no unwanted emphasis, no quirky staging, etc.) that makes them so good. When I mentioned the energizer, that was referring to the Shure KSE1200s which were my previous reference IEM and they're electrostatic so they need the energizer box to make them work.

An old but gold album from the 80s - Roxy Music Avalon ( Bob Ludwig Remaster) DSD64 is absolutely superb. Not totally electronic and not modern electronic music. But a good listen.
