I am living in San Diego now, visited Disneyland Anaheim for the first time ever a few weeks ago, been to all those those Tomorrowland places and had no idea how rich of a history it has! Been looking at Peoplemover tracks and was wondering "Where the heck is the entrance to that ride and why there is no action going on there, is it broken?" :). Same goes for that rocket ride by the entrance, my kid really loved that one and for me it was, you guessed, "another Dumbo". Awesome video!

What really bothers me about the current state of Tomorrowland is that I know some people who see no problems with it. I brought it up with my cousin one day and she was completely oblivious to all the things that are abandoned or just don’t fit theme of Tomorrowland. I myself am also really hoping they do a major overhaul on this sorry excuse of an area. At least I know the rocks in front are being removed.

Great video Erin. I love Tomorrowland too. One of my all time favorite attractions was Mission to Mars. I was bummed when it closed in '92. Tomorrowland really needs to be shown love, and gosh darnit, bring back the Peoplemover.

I hope they do take all the star wars shit out of TL when galaxy's edge opens. Hopefully the excitement of a new land will give them a chance to totally rebuild TL around the key attraction, space mountain. That brown and gold scheme is the same as used in discovery land in Disneyland Paris. They also have the same bloody off the shelf ride.

When I was little ( I forget what age) I went to DisneyWorld with my brother, mom, and her friend and her family. My brother and I and the other kids went on Star Tours and the worker found out it was my birthday. So, before the ride started every one sang Happy Birthday!

I loved, loved, LOVED Star Tours when I was a kid as well. My friends thought I was lame for enjoying the ride so much, seeing as though it was mainly a simulator, but I rode it 5 times at a row during my childhood vacation.

To be honest with you, I'd never heard of Tomorrow Land. But I heard of Disneyland. You told a very good story on things including the games.

I seem to remember a lot of stuff from Tomorrowland™ as I went to Disneyland® when I was a kid. I didn't know what it was called then and only learned when I watched this video. But the old imagery looks super familiar. And that's my entire story. The end.

I’ve never been to Disneyland, just Disney World, so it’s great that I got to learn a little about the park. It really sucks that so much of Tomorrowland is wasted space like that. Maybe once the Star Wars land is done they’ll have a good excuse to give this one a massive overhaul and make it better.

Would be nice if STARCADE made a major comeback as well. There was Flynn’s for a little bit, in celebration of Tron Legacy. And they put out a few cabinets during the release of Wreck-it-Ralph. But it used to be a major, two story arcade, with a (nearly lifesized) x-wing hanging from the ceiling. It was something else. Ps, I used to work at Disneyland resort. I miss it a lot.

Valid points here. I was here this past September, and still feel disappointed with Tomorrowland. I think their largest challenge is keeping up with the constant change of what is perceived as futuristic. They’ll be shelling out tons of cash (paid for with increased ticket prices) to keep this area current.

TomorrowLand is a source of depression for me. Disneyland was a disappointing experience for me when I visited as a kid, as most every ride broke down as we got to it, which was tough on my disabled brother too, and the only thing I enjoyed was the arcade.

Not refurbishing Tomorrowland into a Wall-E themed area sounds like a huge misstep. Also, Captain EO needs to be on blu-ray. Your Star Raiders poster is really cool, too.

As you mentioned, my hope is that once Galaxy’s Edge opens up they refurb Tomorrowland. But given the need for crowd control at that time, who knows if it’s going to be possible. The people mover was one of my favorites as a kid so I want it to make a comeback. Especially the one fast part where it rolls by the stormtrooper =P

I love your Disneyland passion! Besides gaming, Disneyland history and theme parks in general is also my major interest. I even moved down here to SoCal to be closer to the parks 3 years ago. Sadly, Disney has stopped caring about new and exciting themeing and attractions and instead focuses on just turning it into a living commercial that you walk through. Everything they change is an attempt to sell toys and movie tickets and all of their budget not already spent on Galaxy's Edge goes towards creating upcharge after hour events and vip areas for people with endless disposable income. I like Star Wars and I love Marvel but when was the last time we got a creative new non-ip ride or attraction? I know they have always been a corporation first and they have always wanted all the money in the world but this feels different. It feels like the Magic is gone. I totally understand the part at the end of your video about complaining because you care. I'm in the exact same boat. I have studied Disneyland History, read books about Walt's life, and I have actually met Bob Gurr. I love the "magic" and how this wonderful park was Walt's impossible dream that he managed to make come true. It's just so sad to see it drained away like this. All we can do is hope the magic returns someday. Anyway, I loved the video and I look forward to more Disneyland and gaming content on the channel. It's so cool to find someone else who really enjoys both subjects. Have a great day!

Boy did you ever nail my same opinions on Tomorrowland Erin. I am also a long time Disneyland Fan and have slowly seen the sadness that is the current Tomorrowland. Years ago I created a CGI recreation of The Adventure Thru Inner Space Virtual Ridethru so you know I'm a huge fan of Tomorrowland. You can watch here on youtube if you do a search. You might get a kick out of seeing what the ride was like since you are also a retro Disney fan. I wish Disney would stop being so cheap and fix up the Peoplemover and have it running again like WDW does. The entire section of Tomorrowland needs some help and, I worry for the fate of it when Galaxy's Edge opens. Disney needs to make it their mission and goal to make Tomorrowland everyone's favorite land again. Keep your fingers crossed.

I only went to the one in Florida, once, back in either 96 or 97, and only remember parts of it, but all the same, preach on!

A few things: 1. You make a great point about Tomorrowland being heavily dependent on Star Wars, something I never really thought about til you brought it up - honestly when Star Wars land opens I have a strong feeling that Tomorrowland may unfortunately have to become an extension of Star Wars land depending on how it does without the attractions there. For all I know I could be wrong and it may get a huge remodel, but we'll have to see. 2. The bronze paint at Tomorrowland may look pretty bad now yeah, but it definitely had a Utopian aesthetic to them that I loved looking at as a kid. Hell, the 60's futuristic looking aesthetic is what made me love Tomorrowland in the first place and it's kinda sad to see it morph into what it is now. 3. I never knew the Astro Orbiter was actually where the Observitron was. That makes so much more sense as to why the designs looked so familiar. Sucks that the Observitron is only there to look like a statue now - I remember as a kid I saw it move around once and thought it was the coolest but freakiest thing. Lastly, AWESOME video! :) I love informative stuff like this and the passion behind it. Keep up the good work!

I'm sad I never got to experience the Jaws ride the King Kong ride or the aliens ride at Epcot. I went there when I was 2 years old, and I remember punching Chip of Chip and Dale in the nuts, and almost getting eaten by an alligator but that's it. This is the one in Florida not the one in California.

I've never been to Disneyland - only the one in Florida, and I always get the mixed up - so I don't remember if they have an equivalent, but I do remember the Carousel of Progress. Also a very nice choice of music; I've been a fan of the Illusion games ever since I first got to try Castle of Illusion ages ago.

The original Star Tours ride at Disney World I freaking loved when I was a kid. I was actually there on the night they had the Last Tour to Endor event in 2010, which included an appearance by George Lucas, a fireworks show and a shutdown ceremony. Didn't stay for the latter two as I was leaving the next day. Going on the original ride for the last time that day was very bittersweet. Space Mountain at Disneyland is now Hyperspace Mountain? Oh, no, no no no no! You cannot tamper with Space Mountain whatsoever! Especially when it looks like there's already enough Star Wars-themed attractions and ride there. The OGs should be left alone! I don't think I ever went on the Astro Orbiter when I was kid, the Magic Kingdom one obviously. I still remember seeing it for the first time when I went down in 1994, and I think it just replaced the Star Jets then. Honey, I Shrunk the Audience! should have been brought back after they ended the Captain EO revival. That was a great attraction! I can understand because they feel that the franchise is a little obsolete, but to use the old building as just a screening room now, that's really sad. I'm actually heading back to Disney World this year at the end of June with my whole family, my first trip there since 2010, and Tomorrowland is my favorite part of Disney World. Space Mountain and Carousel of Progress are my jams every time I go down there, and I'm gonna keep an eye on any types of changes that were made to Tomorrowland since then. (My Disney trip actually coincides with TooManyGames which I was planning on attending this year as I've never been to one yet I'm only 40 minutes away from the Expo Center, and hopefully meeting you, Mike, Game Chasers and others, but it looks like I'll just have to wait until either Magfest next year or TooManyGames next year).
