I assure you these are nitro top fuel cars. Plenty of big names in nostalgia racing, and we still get to enjoy full 1/4 mile runs.

I would make slipper clutches illegal for nostalgia dragsters . I 'd like to see tire smoke rooster tails the length of the track like back in '68

They're Nostalgia TF cars bud. As they were in the 60's, 70's and early 80's. Until Big Daddy learned how to get a rear engine car down the track - these were the Best of the Best. In many circles they still are to this day. Nitro race cars, there's nothing on the planet even close to or like them!

are these cars some what based on modern fuel funny cars ? what engine and clutch set up do they have ?

Yes. these old cars are based on new cars.

Are you sure those are top fuel nitro? Or are they alcohol dragsters. Top Fuel is in the NHRA with the big names. Those are about 4000 hp while the top fuel NHRA are 8000. And they are rear engine.
