This was during the early days of nostalgia drag racing on the west coast, and not many did with their original cars.

Thats what they did back in the day with vintage rails , before electric starters they also had push starts and actually drove them a bit to heat the engines up and then they flipped lanes and staged in and go, smoked them all the way, so cool , I take that anyday than the 3 -4 second high$$ halftrack cars of today that no ordinary racers can afford , btw early fuel cars didnt even have spools or locked diffs in the 60s it was one of Garlits 3 rules to never use locked rear ends back then
