Famoso was the track Jan and Dean called Drag City in their 1963 hit song by the same name. And what a song it is!! Tony Nancy's Top Gas Dragster powered by a Chrysler 426 Max Wedge engine provided the sound effects heard before the music begins, and was on the album cover. His car ran in the 8s at about 180 mph on pump gas in 1963. Today's Top Fuel cars hit 100 mph in .8 seconds when the light turns green, and nearly 300 mph in the 1/8th mile in 2.7 seconds, and an astounding 338 mph in 3.6 seconds in 1,000 feet (They no longer run a full 1/4 mile).

to keep the heads cooled atleast sins the blocks were "solid" so IF the engine trew a rod they would bore the cylinder out and press in a new slew

@sa3dH4EvaR some cars do have a small cooling system but alot of them are just a solid block with 8 holes and room for the engine parts they run nitro methane which burns alot cooler then gasoline and the forward motion cools it of under the run back in the old days befor custom blocks they took factory block and filled them with plaster or concrete

@sa3dH4EvaR the life span of a full blown engine is hard to know but the bearings and piston rings were the things that would wear out like normal but those 392 hemi engines were a dime a dozen back then like a chevy 350 is today so f something broke they just went and found a new one so as as long as the crank block and heads dident crack pr explode they coule run the engine a long time but how long i have no idea some engines had cooling in the cylinder heads
