For thousands of years, there was only one way of crossing this spartan landscape in the vast, dusty heat of North Africa. This was it. It was used by the Greeks, the Romans, the Berbers, the Phoenicians, the Bantu's, the Arabs, the Carthaginians, the Ottomans, the French, the Touareg, the Italians, and the British. But then, in 1968, the camel's 4,000-year monopoly was ended... by the Peugeot 504.

My Grandmother had a 504 Estate for about two decades. Known as *Hix* to all, she was sadly and with much anguish sold for scrap after the braking system failed; the bonnet badge lives on though. In hindsight she could have been repaired instead, but my grandmother was poorly advised. Great car though; not something that often be said of the Frenchies, but very true in this case.

I loved my ‘79 504. I’m embarrassed to say that it developed an oil leak in college and I spun a rod bearing driving home and killed it.

I bought a pair of these cars the station wagon and the sedan. Oh it's not just to pay and play you got to change out those USA headlights and get rid of those big plastic ugly bumpers that's going to set you back a few thousands. And add the electric fan and the three prong radiator fan switch to keep it cool, summers are hotter now

@@pashaboss6 still going strong. I’ve done about 6000km in it since i bought it. I had to replace the driveshaft joint and the clutch slave and master cylinder. The car only cost 1100€ and it is 40 years old so it’s completely understandable. The parts are really cheap as well. I’d say it’s worth every penny I paid for it. What about you?
@kiinanomistaja24022 жыл бұрын
@@pashaboss6 I’m from Finland and the winters are quite harsh here and it started in -30 degree weather without any problems. I didn’t even preheat it. I just let the glow plugs heat up and it starts every time. It is really easy to drift as well thanks to the limited slip differential.
