A friend from Mali told me once that with spare parts of two old 504 an African smith can build a 505 :-)

My Grandmother had a 504 Estate for about two decades. Known as *Hix* to all, she was sadly and with much anguish sold for scrap after the braking system failed; the bonnet badge lives on though. In hindsight she could have been repaired instead, but my grandmother was poorly advised. Great car though; not something that often be said of the Frenchies, but very true in this case.

Dad had an SR sedan. That car was very comfortable. It had grunt. I still see it around.

Still own my Dads. Only used it for Holiday trips..1982...Mileage - 320000kms. We weren't allowed to drive it😢

My entire youth in Africa was spent on one of those, on highways to untared game farm roads. They just needed petrol or diesel.

There is also the Zhula 504 GR Peugeot. In Africa its commonly known as Mukango , meaning the Lion .

I loved my ‘79 504. I’m embarrassed to say that it developed an oil leak in college and I spun a rod bearing driving home and killed it.

I bought a pair of these cars the station wagon and the sedan. Oh it's not just to pay and play you got to change out those USA headlights and get rid of those big plastic ugly bumpers that's going to set you back a few thousands. And add the electric fan and the three prong radiator fan switch to keep it cool, summers are hotter now

I bought one a week ago! It’s a 1983 pickup with a 1.9 diesel and it’s brilliant and really dependable.

@@pashaboss6 still going strong. I’ve done about 6000km in it since i bought it. I had to replace the driveshaft joint and the clutch slave and master cylinder. The car only cost 1100€ and it is 40 years old so it’s completely understandable. The parts are really cheap as well. I’d say it’s worth every penny I paid for it. What about you?

@@pashaboss6 I’m from Finland and the winters are quite harsh here and it started in -30 degree weather without any problems. I didn’t even preheat it. I just let the glow plugs heat up and it starts every time. It is really easy to drift as well thanks to the limited slip differential.
