The attention to detail is outstanding. This is BY FAR my favorite Tamiya 1/48 F-14 build on KZfaq. I've been a long time fan and seeing how your skills improve with every video you've put out has prompted me to get cracking on some of my kits. This is truly inspirational to me and the modelling community as a whole! I just wish I could get my hands on the Fightertown decals for my 1/48 F-14 (that has yet to be built)... Such an iconic aircraft great work on this one

My dad was one of the main design heads on the F14 . As a kid I played with one of the original wood models model to present to the pentagon in the presentations to get funding! The wings moved and everything. I wasn't supposed to play with it it was up on the mantle but i played with it anyway! It was just about the same size as that one you have there! It's still one of the baddest looking planes we ever made ! It just looked so cool!!!

Nice job. This was from a time when I was in the Navy on IKE. it was about this time that the Navy ordered squadron maintenance to no longer paint for beauty but rather only for preservation and maintenance. The fleet began to look like grey spotted graffiti. Gone were the semi gloss smooth paint schemes and all attempts at beauty. There was such a huge difference in US Navy vs US Air Force aircraft when sitting side by side.

An unforgettable hero in difficult days for Iranians Tomcat was the top fighter in the Iran-Iraq war, but with the courage of Iranian pilots The Iranians have a world record of battles with this aircraft - especially General Jalil Zandi who had more than 11 hunts with this aircraft.

Just absolutely awesome F-14. I think that you hit it spot on. I was a senior in high school when this movie came out. It’s what made me want to join the Us Navy. This build brung back alot of memories. Thank you very much.

Beautiful model, you have outstanding skills and I could only dream of weathering a model like this! I still have yet to do a F-14, have had a 1/72 Hasegawa F-14a in my stash since 2006. If I ever do a F-14a, it would have to be a IIAF, my father in law flew it in IIAF and the Iran/Iraq war as IRIAF and he’s always happy to tell me stories as I show great interest.

People are watching this because of the skill of the person building the model not because of the model. The patience, detail and technical accuracy is outstanding. I was an avionics tech on F-14s and this is by far the most realistic model I've seen. The paint discoloration, weathering, and fluid leaks of the real aircraft are perfect. Don't disrespect something out of ignorance. Take a moment and realize your "epic" kid model isn't on the same level. "Sometimes is better to be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt."

I've never gotten the whole art thing, paintings that look average to me are worth millions because somehow it's magical, to me it's just a painting but this is art to me, I build buildings, houses, remodel old woodwork, this is art, the detail, weathering, tiny details is really fascinating, it's a feast for my eyes. I'm a model builder. Cars, Race Cars, and Moto GP bikes. Not very good at finishing them- but I love the process. The cutting, filing, sanding and finishing tiny parts. Great job. I was in the Navy in San Diego in 1985 when they were making this movie. Always loved the Tomcat, I just wish a company would do a model that has the correcy intakes on it. It's an easy fix on the Tamiya.

Great job layering. This is so useful for mech and Gundam builders. Makes it much more realistic. It's a little too battle worn for me but still great work! More suitable for tanks and mechs.

I was an avid model builder as a kid and was pretty good at it. I tried to get back into it recently and found my eyes failed me and my hands shook too much. Lego is my only option but I value true model builders. Great job!

In my opinion the most aesthetically pleasing you and beautiful piece of aviation history. No fighter ever built possesses such beauty then the F-14 tomcat. This Build was so fun to watch And the results are absolutely perfect.

Great balls of fire! That's a beautiful model and very screen accurate. You also have the new D kit in the larger scale. It's interesting and I have a few pictures. The Toms had poor performance in the readiness and were always being torn apart. Because of the corrosion from the ocean and excessive wear and tear from being worked on a lot, the F-14s rarely had the same shade of grey in them when nearing the end of the tour. The panels were always being sprayed with rattlecans and a panel could easily have a dozen different shades of grey on it. They look like patchwork nearing the end of the cruise. This also worked, accidentally, as an extra low visibility camo. People tend to mistake the look as the birds being dirty, which of course they were... But it's the paint. You did a beautiful work with the clear paints modeling this. I never thought about doing that. Was that your idea or did you find the technique somewhere?
