Hi Evan, it's been awhile due to the move and finally getting back on track to catch up on your very informative blogs. I became aware of ISM and BSM several years back, but didn't know about their locations in BGC. I'm glad that you created this blog for the 3 international schools. I'm a teacher-educator but in college and university levels and looking forward to your Part 2. As for the 3 international schools, I am highly recommending them. Thanks for sharing 👍.

Good grief- that’s college level tuition here in the US. I pay $30,000 year for my daughter’s college at University of Massachusetts - Amherst, which is far larger than the ISM campus. No way am I paying that for high school education! I’d rather let my children go to De La Salle Zobel in Alabang or La Dalle Greenhills or even Ateneo instead.

Choosing the right school for your children is super important. Those who become leaders in the community or the country for that matter Come from a few select schools in metro manila. Look at the billionaires list in the philippines and you will see the obvious. They are educated by jesuits or christian brothers . The two rival schools in manila. Additionally, if you look at top executives and business owners, you may not be surprised why they are in such choice executive positions.

FYI, the bulk of the students are from rich families that won't bat an eye to spend $28,000 on a Gucci bag. The second group of students are from Expats with housing and living allowance (which might include education allowance) so they can easily afford the tuition fees.

I nearly fainted but if you account for the smaller monthly mortgage and lower cost of living (i live in San Jose, CA) as an expat, you can still come out ahead without being ultra rich .

this i very interesting.. hi, we are planning to move to pH with the kids.. my husband wants them to follow the same german curriculum. GESM in parañaque is the the only german school i found so far.. can you maybe please have this topic on your coming videos.. if ever u can do better research, i appreciate it a lot! stay healthy and informative 😉

Interesting, I’ve never heard of Everest Academy Manila or it being an international school. I only know of International schools often mentioned such as ISM, BSM, Brent, Southville, CIS, CISM, and EISM. ISM, BSM, and Brent are considered the big 3 and most expensive though I consider ISM and BSM to be prestigious schools in the country. On a small note, not all international schools in the Philippines are legit international schools.

CIS here in Cebu is comparable to the first school mentioned in the video. I would love to send my daughter there but the cost is ridiculous.

Interesting. If I had kids I would want them to get Filipino values by living and being around Filipino kids in a Filipino school. There is a good school near me I support called Assumption and it seems nice.

Assumption is an elite private school here. Those are also managed by nuns. Yeah I agree. I understand if you are foreigners planning to send your kids here. It is better to send your kids to an all english school for advantage but I guess that’s the difference with our curriculum here. GMRC or Values subject taught here starting pre-school. I’m surprised to hear from some of the comments it’s not a thing or subject to other countries.

People need to understand that the meaning of quality education from the perspective of people with money and those who do not have money are totally different. People with money send their kids to BSM and ISM because of academics under a British or American curriculum with a global mindset, the afterschool activities, facilities such as art, music and kiln rooms, dance and drama studios, a theatre, an amphitheater and climbing wall, etc. The tuition of close to Php1.5M per year does not bother the people with money. They will not admit this but another factor for people with money is that they want their kids to associate and study with kids with money as well; it is part of the premium they pay. The Filipino kids studying in BSM and ISM will eventually inherit the business empires of their parents and be on top at the same time. These kids with money who grew up and educated together will create synergies when its time for them to lead. When that happens, they will hire the best students from other Philippines schools mentioned by others like Ateneo, La Salle.

We just moved near Manila and my 10th grader enrolled in DE Lasalle. Pretty affordable tuition 120k pesos per yr.and they run by semester. Wife and I really like the school and it's curriculum. The beauty about is that she can transition easily to the college campus once she is ready.

its not 120k per year, it was 150k a year already 4 years ago.

You definitely don’t wanna pay that kind of money for college education if the individual is going to continue to live in the Philippines because because it would take you half of your lifetime to make that college money back the way wages are set up here in the Philippines I mean you need a college education just to work at jolly bees some parents will waste that kind of money on their children since Acacian but living here in the Philippines would be very tough to make it back in a reasonable amount of time

This is one of the things I’m looking for when planning our move to the Philippines. I’ve looked at some International Schools in the Philippines and man ISM is hella expensive. Was thinking of sending my daughter to Philippines to save. But I see that I t’s almost the same price. I could even supplement her learning with after school tutorials for advance courses. Not really worth it

My theory is that they pay in USD/GBP for foreign staff/teachers while they pay local currency for local staff hence they charge on both currencies.

I don't think that's the reason. Quoting in two different currencies is a bureaucratic mess. Thus there is either a regulatory / tax component to it or possibly their competitor started doing it so they found that it was a competitive disadvantage not to quote in the same manner. Someone more ambitious than me could call the school and find out I suppose.

A piece of advice, let your kids attend a local private school or Montessori instead. Quality of education is very good but very though like in any Asian Country. English is used in almost all subjects. Values eduacation is also thought in all levels that is why Filipinos are very kind, respectful, hunble and friendly.

the reason theres a USD and pesos charge is for legal reasons because the big fee is the franchise fee shipped off to overseas, and the smaller fee is the actual school fee, YUP, all that money you're paying is just a franchise fee

Kindly do a vlog on the top Philippine universities of De La Salle University, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, San Beda University, University of Santo Tomas, Ateneo De Manila University, and University of the Philippines. I know you'll increase your subscribers in no time..

Meh, formal education is over-rated. 😂 I think they teach you that formal, structured education is of value. Get educated and get a good job. Basically teaching you how to become a good employee. You should focus on finance and how to invest and become financially independent as early as possible. Then do whatever you want...

harder to be successful in business if you cannot do basic math and reading comprehension but yeah no need to over pay for that, basic school should not that be expensive, one is moving to the Philippines to enjoy lower cost of living and if you are paying that much for school might as well stay in your own country!

@@kanyon_ni_mang_simeon I'm not saying don't get educated, just that you don't have to pay an arm and a leg. I have a degree from a cheap college. I studied business because I wanted to understand basic financial concepts. Then I made a life with that knowledge.

@@robocop581 If that is what you want then you need that specific degree, but do you need it from an expensive University? Also, why does anyone want a specific career? Yes we need Doctors, Nurses, Engineers...Lawyers are questionable? The system is designed to make you think...education, job(30+ yrs), retire. If I asked you if you wanted to be a Doctor and get on that hamster wheel or be a multi-millionaire that doesn't require an expensive degree what would you choose? I would become the millionaire first, then pursue a passion of becoming a Doctor... :)

Victory Christian International School (Every Nation Preschool). CCF Life Academy International is a few minutes drive away from BGC.

International schools are a con. My children went to International schools in Hong Kong, at the cost of $2000 per month per child. It was compulsory so I had no choice. An absolute rip-off. All the system provided was under-qualified teachers and a useless service. Fortunately, I am a Doctor of Education, as well as having been an examiner at IB and A-level, so it was up to me me to ensure that my kids received a decent education. Now I live in the Philippines, my son attends a Montessori School, with which I am happy. My step-daughter attends architectural school in Manila and my niece is enrolled at La Salle University, studying Pharmacy. The international school system in most jurisdictions seems to allow ridiculously inept foreigners to earn huge salaries and gain perks which they do not deserve.

However, International schools provide a multicultural atmosphere which allows expat children to feel comfortable. The demography of local high quality schools like Ateneo and La Salle may overwhelm an expat child.

As someone who currently works in an international school in Manila I can say the quality is far better than the state schools back home. Teachers have a huge opportunity for professional development and the school I am at is a world leader in education. Class sizes are about half the size of back home and the facilities are world class. The salary is better but not by much, obviously it needs to be if you want teachers to leave their home countries and work in areas that are polluted/ dangerous/ economically unstable. Students who graduated last year went to some of the best universities around the world, so the school must be doing something right.
