I have been depressed for a long time, but after taking shrooms few months ago, l feel much happier and highly motivated and my ADHD gone , lost a ton of anxiousness and had a few epiphanies about how I should live my life. Have they tried you on a nightly dose of Guanfacine or Clonidine yet? They specifically target the "fight or flight" response by reducing the amount of norepinephrine in circulation. These are gaining popularity in treating anxiety and PTSD, since they have fewer side effects and don't have the same risks of addiction or dependence as typical anxiety medications. They can also address insomnia and prevent migraines. Although they're FDA-approved to treat ADHD and to manage blood pressure, the smaller doses they use in treating anxiety won't lower blood pressure that much.

I was reading a book about hormones. Hormones can have such a huge effect on the anxiety profile it’s quite incredible! The book called the ageless man. These guys who were suffering from depression, anxiety, diabetes, all were treated by simply putting the testosterone back into the normal range. I had my hormones checked and they were all over the place. As soon as my doctor balanced them, I felt fine. I felt how I did when I was 14 again, not having a care in the world and happy! My thoughts go out to everyone who is suffering! You’re all not alone!

I think one of the worst parts about anxiety is that it prevents people from actually seeking treatment, be it fear of the actual social interaction, or the fear that your doctor will think you're just trying to get drugs, especially if you've done some research on your own time and bring up a specific medication, most notably benzodiazepines. On top of that, reading about side effects and experiences from other people online doesn't help either. When it comes to the side effects though, it's worth noting that many people are taking these medications and aren't having any significant problems. A lot of people sharing their experiences in online forums in most cases are going to be the most vocal minority who experienced negative side effects, so always pay close attention to the positives, because it has to have really made a difference if it drives them to go online and talk about it.

I have PTSD/anxiety from the sudden loss of my Son. My heart got way out of whack on benzo's. My saving grace is 25 mg hydroxyzine as needed. It works wonderful for me. I took hydroxyzine for situational anxiety some years back, at a standard 25mg dose. It would absolutely knock me out in less than half an hour. Downside was I was always asleep. Upside? Meetai, If stress affects internal physical health visit a good psychologist. . Heal yourself. Your breath is directly related to your mind [brain] causing negative thoughts-anxiety-stress. For a relaxed life sit on a chair, back erect, hands on lap with palms upwards, eyes closed, be still and observe your natural incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for around 10-15 minutes or more. Be as still as possible. Slowly negative thoughts will reduce and relax the mind. Patience is needed. During your daily activity keep observing your breath consciously. Do the above meditation daily. Anyway you wilL lose nothing but gain something. . Positive affirmations for 5-10 minutes before sleep also gives quick relief. Best wishes. Shyaaam Sir. -Counsellor.

Mindfulness, a calm environment with less caffeine & TV has been effective for me. Discontinuing anxiety medications is a very anxious experience; worse than what you think requires medication in the first place. Cannabis is a natural alternative for some folks as well. Valerian, Cava Cava & chamomile are helpful to many. Some form of centering meditation or just a few minutes alone can help to calm the mind. Writing out what one finds overwhelming is shown to be quite effective too.

i too suffer from chronic anxiety. runs in family. i take xanax as PRESCRIBED and find it to be most effective. tried prozac x 8 months, didn't help and was brutal titrating off. it is unfortunate that xanax is abused as this makes me feel as if i am being 'scrutinized'! I had reactions to benzos, SSRIs, and beta blockers. What worked best for me was a nightly dose of Clonidine, which specifically targets the "fight or flight" panic and anxiety response by reducing the amount of norepinephrine in circulation. My daughter responded even better to its sister drug, Guanfacine, and it eliminated her anxiety and panic attacks. She also went from a C student to an A student overnight!

I know clonidine is very potent drug in lowering blood pressure. Isn't it dangerous to take it before bed since blood pressure naturally drops significantly during sleep?
@Dulcimerist
@Dulcimerist 3 жыл бұрын
@@simonram8505 Not really, since it's low dose Clonidine (0.1mg or 0.2mg) before bed to treat issues such as anxiety, PTSD, insomnia, ADHD, and other issues. The mild effect on blood pressure that low dose Clonidine has helps to mimic the normal decrease in blood pressure that happens during sleep, which is why it's a popular medication to treat insomnia in children as well as adults. My blood pressure has actually increased a bit on low dose Clonidine, since it reduces blood pooling in the legs and increases the blood volume in circulation. The dosing for using Clonidine to manage high blood pressure is higher doses taken throughout the day, which is when you start to see a more noticeable effect on blood pressure.

I began to develop Anxiety symptoms when in my late teens. At first, it was an extreme feeling of unease around people. I was put on 5mg Diazepam and found instant relief. I have been on and off them ever since. I am now in my mid 60's. My father was an extremely bad tempered man, who caused my and my mother a lot of stress. In the late 80's I was taken off them. But I began to gravitate towards alcohol, getting through at least 3 bottles of gin a week. My then Doctor put me back on Diazepam at only 2mg and they did take the edge off the Anxiety. My father has since passed away, and my mother is now severley invalid, and needs 24/7 care. And the Doctor who originally prescribed the pills has just retired. So, guess what? the other Doctors have put me on a reduction program, which means that I will eventually be taken off them completely. My fear is that I will return to alcohol to find some relief. I live in the UK and Benzodiazepines are frowned upon by most Doctors. I just don't know how I can go on without stress relief, as my my is very demanding, and needs to to do just about every thing for her.

Im currently on Lexapro for anxiety but it almost makes it worse.. im trying to find something only to take when I have an attack. Do these types of medications cause the “brain zaps” i get from my Lexapro?
@Dulcimerist
@Dulcimerist 3 жыл бұрын
I got the "brain zaps" from SSRI medications as well. Anything that boosts serotonin can cause those. Have they tried you on a nightly dose of Guanfacine or Clonidine yet? These are gaining popularity in treating anxiety and PTSD, since they have fewer side effects and don't have the same risks of addiction or dependence as typical anxiety medications. They can also address insomnia and prevent migraines. Although they're FDA-approved to treat ADHD and to manage blood pressure, the smaller doses they use in treating anxiety won't lower blood pressure that much. These two don't cause "brain zaps".

Hi Dr. Richardson, my Dr has me on Gabapentin and Duloxetine for anxiety but I feel really angry, is that normal?
@maryjo8752
@maryjo8752 3 жыл бұрын
Duloxetine is a very interesting drug. It’s good if you are suffering from depression or anxiety. Not sure why it would cause anger tho. I took it . I liked it but it only stays in the system for 12 hours and those symptoms I have noted return quickly. Gabapentin should give you a more calmer feeling. I also took that with duloxetine. I still use gabapentin with my Wellbutrin. Note! Coming off duloxetine is one hell of a ride. Even done slowly with a new drug. Make sure your doctor works very closely with you on this duloxetine. Maybe it’s just not the drug for you. Perhaps you could do gabapentin with buspirone. That’s a very calming combination. Good luck to you on your quest.

First of all I'm 71, work out, walk everywhere, good blood pressure etc. My ENT prescribed Venlafaxine 37.5 mg for my Vestibular Migraine that came out of nowhere. He said take it for 2 weeks. I took one at 10am and by Noon my Vertigo was 80% gone. I thought cool.. 2am the next morning I woke up with a blinding headache, and I don't get headaches. But I did read on Web MD you might want to watch your Blood Pressure if you take this. So I decided to take my Blood pressure. 196/121. Yeah off to the Emergency room I went. I realize different medications can work differently in different people.. Just a Heads up.

Clonazepam worked better for me, but you must be prepared for major withdrawals if you take shit load of em. Hydroxyzine is for itching but helps some. Screw any SSRI or antidepressants..Them suckers can make you suicidal and I was in group with someone who did. Gabapentin helped me w social anxiety, appetite, nerve pain. #Anxiety #PTSD

I take hydroxyzine at night for my insomnia and night terrors due to PTSD.It has worked wonders!!! My psychiatrist and I have come up on a cocktail that really works for me. I take citolopram for my depression in the evening, along with 100 mg of Gapentin. At night I take 600 mg of Gapentin. 4 mg of Minipress or Prazocin, hydroxocine and 5 milligram of melatonin. Along with other allergy meds. This has worked wonders for me for years. I take very Little mental health meds in the daytime due to the sleepiness involved, plus i needed them at night anyway. I have panic attacks very rarely now. I also add all my vitamins In the daytime plus I started swimming for exercise. This is just works for me after a !it of trial and error.

My doctor suggested Wellbutrin, I will take my first full pill tomorrow morning I will do it for a week to see if it helps me sit down and focus. I was thinking on combining concerta am with lorazepam pm, because I can stop positive thinking...planning etc. I want to be productive but I also I want to sleep at night. What do you think?

Have your doctors tried you on a nightly dose of Guanfacine or Clonidine yet? They specifically target the "fight or flight" response by reducing the amount of norepinephrine in circulation. These are gaining popularity in treating anxiety and PTSD, since they have fewer side effects and don't have the same risks of addiction or dependence as typical anxiety medications. They can also address insomnia and prevent migraines. Although they're FDA-approved to treat ADHD and to manage blood pressure, the smaller doses they use in treating anxiety won't lower blood pressure that much.

Report that to your doctor right away! If it's a side effect, which is quite possible, your doctor needs to know immediately. Have they tried you on a nightly dose of Guanfacine or Clonidine yet? Infrequent side effects of Hydroxyzine: - Acid reflux - Muscle tremors - Dry mouth - Throat dryness Rare side effects of Hydroxyzine: - Seizures - Cognitive problems - Vomiting - Muscle twitching - Paradoxical bronchospasm - Stomach irritation If any of those somewhat describe what you're experiencing, it's best to speak with your doctor or pharmacist. Random people on the internet can't accurately answer your question. Go to a medical professional, describe what you're experiencing and when it started, give them a list of all of the medications you're taking and when you started taking each medication, and let the medical professional determine what is or isn't causing the issues you're experiencing. Nobody online, including myself, can tell you with certainty that the Hydroxyzine is or isn't causing what you're experiencing.
