Breaking Bad follows protagonist Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife (Anna Gunn) and teenage son (RJ Mitte) who has cerebral palsy. White is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given a prognosis of two years left to live. With a new sense of fearlessness based on his medical prognosis, and a desire to secure his family's financial security, White chooses to enter a dangerous world of drugs and crime and ascends to power in the world. The series explores how a fatal diagnosis such as White's releases a typical man from the daily concerns and constraints of normal society and follows his transformation from mild family man to a kingpin of the drug trade.

3:02 i've always loved how hilarious this scene is, because on one hand, Skyler is scared since she's facing a 'dangerous pot dealer' and on the other hand, Jesse is scared because he thinks Walter told everything to his wife. Of course it's nothing like that, and the fact that it's worse makes it 100% more hilarious

It's crazy how the first time Walt kills someone he repeatedly says "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry" with such sadness and horror, but as he continues to kill it becomes nothing to him, almost something he finds a reason to believe he must do.

It's a cultural stress reaction and adaptation. Soldiers in combat go through the same process. At first it goes against all you were taught and thought. then after killing up close a time or two, you realise how fragile the body is and how easy it is to kill a person. the next is easier - and the next - and the next, until you don't give it much thought anymore. like the twins I guess.

@@diegoledezma4045 I don't think he ever enjoyed killing. Except for maybe Lydia and Jacks gang. Everyone else was just a necessity in his eyes and he became desensitized to their deaths. He actually killed very few people but was responsible for the death of everyone that died in the show.

I feel like the reason we found Skyler so annoying was because all along, we were viewing the story in Walt’s point of view, and her being an obstacle in Walt’s path from preventing him from becoming Heisnberg..

Actually, that's a very good point. In truth, it definitely appears to be the basis for Walt's actions but as the seasons develop, you begin to realize the cancer was only a blip on the real reasons Walt turned to a life of crime. Resentment, inadequacy, greed, delusional grandeur, all of these empirically act as the true foundation for Walt's transformation into Heisenberg. Caner was just the little nudge Walt needed to be within the mindset of doom, and time running out to encourage him to go through with actually taking something for once.

0:37 Most people don't realize, this was our first actual glimpse of Hiesenberg. Up until this point walt hadn't lashed out at anyone. Hiesenberg had been inside of walt all along. He just needed that one good/bad reason (cancer) to let him take over.

The reason Breaking Bad is so good is we are essentially seeing various fantasies we've all had play out. Who wouldn't want their dad to make a fool of someone who bullied or made fun of them? Who wouldn't want to set fire to the car of some big loud hotshot? Who wouldn't want to quit their day job and become a badass drug kingpin?

Season 1 is extremely underrated. Not only was it funnier, it also had a more organic feel and Walter was more believable. Seeing him get into this business as a regular joe family man was more interesting. There was more of a struggle and internal conflicts that were very engrossing to witness

Fun Fact : In the original pilot script for Breaking Bad, Jesse's name was Marion Alan Dupree. Series creator Vince Gilligan originally intended for Jesse Pinkman's character to be killed at the end of Breaking Bad's first season. Gilligan wanted Jesse to die in a botched drug deal, as a plot device to plague Walt with guilt. However, Gilligan said by the second episode of the season, he was so impressed with Jesse's character and Aaron Paul's performance that "it became pretty clear early on that it would be a huge, colossal mistake to kill off Jesse". Gilligan also liked the chemistry between Paul and Bryan Cranston. The character has been said to become the "flawed moral center" to Walter White in later seasons. Paul has said that he initially saw the character as "black-and-white", but that over time it had become evident that Jesse "has a huge heart; it just got messed up".

Walter White's actions took a massive pitfall after he really broke bad, and the severity of his actions far surpassed hers to begin with since he killed people. Skyler White is by no means innocent as she was forced to break bad a little bit herself and get her hands involved with drug money.
