I got started shmupping thinking it was a solitary affair to kill a few minutes after working night shift when I didn't have the time or energy for "real" games. After discovering the community during the Raging Blasters caravan, I realized how much more fun these games are when you tap into the social side.

Honestly, sometimes it's better when things stay underground. The mainstream has a knack for ruining everything. Reminds me of my pothead roommate who just plays Apex Legends all day but then one day I mentioned Steam and he had no idea what I was talking about. I wouldn't mind introducing him, but he just doesn't seem to have the attention span to ever really care about anything until it gets shoved in his face repeatedly. You get enough of those types into a community and next thing you know loot boxes and other corporate "everything needs mass appeal" nonsense will suddenly be "the norm" in your fandom. You'll end up with rainbow-haired activists arguing about how Sexy Parodius needs to be banned for being "demeaning" to women. I'm sorry if any of this sounds negative, but maybe I am just still coping from the horrendous Cowboy Bebop adaptation that had all the signs of being ruined by mainstream writers who just wanted quick money form an existing IP and don't really understand the fans or what makes it great.

Any time man and I look forward to more issues as you did such a good job with this one. I'll of course help any way I can. And look forward to playing Sophstar myself upon release. Since you've had so much practice with it already, maybe yourself and some others in the Brazilian shmup community will want to add some of your own gameplay that I can feature in the video for you guys. Long as it's recorded in good quality I'm happy to, which in your case I am sure it would be.

Maybe they know their market and I'm all for it. I much prefer the style over even the modern polygonal look, which seems to have regressed with the lower budget games. Give me some beautiful 2D art any day.

Hey man, sorry for the late reply. Life has been busy and difficult these last few days for me as well. I agree that the more we are seeing, and hopefully if some show good sales numbers, it may slowly transform into larger releases by some developers that normally wouldn't. It sounds like Konami is looking to revive some of their classic franchises, so maybe we will see another Gradius programmed by a competent studio. You'll be impressed by how much progress was made with Schildmaid MX, even visually with the graphics and not just all the depth they've added in the gameplay. If you already enjoyed it you'll just like it even more. For Good Knight I was really impressed and I do hope his game gets the attention it deserves. And I hope this video and having it front and center will help with that.

I think as shmup and arcade players we get it and don't think twice. But it's a bummer to see so many reviews, even on Steam saying that about the game. I don't blame them, it's what's expected by many these days and the state of gaming. They want it to fit the mold they expect and not looking to invest too much time in mastering and replaying a game. So they need the length for that single playthrough they will do and put it on the shelf, likely to rarely touch it again.

Zakesta was amazing I had so much fun with it and will be playing it again. All the chancla one can handle and in your honor hahaha. Did you see Alpha Centaurus in there? QuakDoomNukem on my discord said it best, "Alpha Centaurus = TF4 & Salamander hate-**cked, with an equally hateful baby. LOOOL

I was thinking the same thing on the whip, even the animation has similarities. It’s a great action game I recommend it to anyone long as a two player mode isn’t a must.

You'll have no problem with Zakesta, but once you get into the scoring it's a lot more tricky. Jaimers has a really good run of it with collecting all the secret blocks and not missing stage blocks. That's what I like about it actually. It's pretty accessible in terms of survival but more involved in terms of score... a lot like Kaikan in that way I guess by the same dev. Pearl was having a ball with that one for a while.

I wasn’t impressed with the graphic style at first and early shots for RockNRoll but seeing arcade footage and the game in motion has changed my mind. I’m really looking forward to digging into it and playing as it looks really fun and unique.

Yes I'm really looking forward to seeing the new score attack for Moon Dancer. Hope he can pull off another great mode like the last one. He is saying a potential December release which is sooner than I even thought.

Good Knight is so much fun... I really hope more people play and enjoy it. I would love to see it take off and find a large audience. Man the music is amazing, no surprise now knowing it's a Filipino based band. I swear everyone is born there with an automatic musical talent.

Yeah, it's called Panorama Cotton and was on Mega Drive. Should be able to download it digital in the near future once it's out. Pretty amazing they even pulled it off so well on the system.

If you love old school platformers it certainly is, I wouldn't hesitate if you're thinking about it. It's really tough on arcade mode as well so it's got longevity in actually getting good.

It's a fault I will gladly take responsibility for! Being the shmup dealer is hard work. I'm with you on RB it's such a great game for anyone especially beginners or those new to the genre. He hit a really good sweet spot with the entry level difficulty and I'm hoping Moon Dancer is similar. I'm sure Lost Machine Games is appreciative you picked up Techbeat. The best thing you can do for them if you enjoyed it is leave a review once you've played it for a while.

You ain't kidding, even though I'm russian, Mexican is definitely my favorite food and we spice out our food like crazy along with some of my Indian friends. Ha, well the closest we are getting are the stages being remade slowly for Final 2 with the DLC. I'd love to see some more of those Delta stages remade, especially the one toward the end with the floating obstacles and rotating battleship. That's such a great stage design and gameplay wise.

Same here, we are all hoping so. Won't be long before we find out. Maybe with all this bad press they may scramble to improve it much as possible prior to release... so they don't get the same backlash with it. LiveWire has already shown it can be done well for Cave ports so there's no excuses.

Haha not a bad idea. You should suggest it to the dev. The caravan is still going on my discord all week as well until this Sunday. If you do enjoy it overall, it really helps the dev to leave a review once you’re ready. It increases the visibility of the game to others. It’s the devs very shmup so even though it lacks some oomph like you said, it’s really well put together. So I have high hopes for his future games too.

The future of the indie scene is definitely on PC, as much as we enjoy the Switch ports too. It's more work for a limited life console release, whereas Steam can remain long term throughout generations. You shouldn't need a crazy PC to play most of these games, especially the indie games. I tried to do something funny and different for the interludes between videos, but most importantly yes, we want our ballsack back in Final! Save the Tofurkey for thanksgiving.

I would be surprised if they did because it's so expensive to get parts and manufacture the carts, it would likely be for collectors. NGDev Team was doing that but it takes them forever to have them made from what I heard. But it could look beautiful in 240p on a CRT I give you that.
