How do the sirius ii fit compared to the Alaskas? Fit close? Can’t find anywhere to see how they fit, I have the scarpa wrangells now

I've had nothing but Scarpa SL's for the last 30 years. They have discontinued the BXX last to some new European "TM" last. Unfortunately the new SL Active's are simply too narrow, and I'll be selling mine. I bought a pair of Lowa Tibet Wides - which seem to be equivalent to the Scarpa Wrangell GTX. Here in Australia & New Zealand Lowa boots have an outstanding reputation for quality and durability - hopefully your experience is a one-off. Unfortunately we don't get Scarpa Fuegos, Scarpa Wrangell GTXs or Scarpa Grand Dru GTX's or even the HanWag boots in Australia.

Scarpa are the toughest boots I've used... hopefully you have better luck than I did with the lowa. I can't give away the replacement pair they sent me...

Crispi Nevada GTX or Zamberlan 972 guide max - amazing boots.

Crispi boots are the most comfortable boots I've ever tried on in a store, but they aren't built to last. I watched a video a couple of years ago where the owner of the company said their boots require no break-in because they use soft, not durable materials. I can't afford to buy new boots every year, buy if I could, I'd go with Crispi

I bought Hanwag's Alaska GTX on the back of various online reviews . I have to say they are simlpy the best footwear I have ever worn. (Meindl, haix, saloman) They have a very deep sole which makes you quite "tall" on solid/stoney ground but where they really excel is on soft,marshy, flooded areas. Hunting as i do in these conditions for 20-30 kms per day is what these beauties were born for. They get the best care i can give them because i ve dry warm feet each and everytime regardless of the inclement Irish conditions . No break in time required either. 10/10 for me

That's awesome they are working for you. I wanted to like them, but after an hour in them, my feet started to hurt.

Have you tried any Crispi hunting boots ? They are highly regarded in America.

I tried on a pair.... very comfortable, but They aren't built to last. I watched a podcast where the host asked the owner of Crispi, how are there boots so comfortable, and the owner said it's because they use cheap materials that are soft and flexible. He even said the downside of their boots being so comfortable with no break-in is that they aren't made to last long.....

@@shuswapoutdoors That is good to know. How about Kenetrek ? They are know as a very robust, long lasting boot.

I don't know much about them. They don't sell them in Canada. It cisosts a lot of money to order a couple of different sizes to try out and ship them back. We have to pay tax and duty on everything that's not made in the USA.

@@shuswapoutdoors I found a pair of Hanwag Alverstone II GTX boots on sale. I already own a pair of Hanwag Banks SF Extra GTX hiking boots that are comfortable and robust. Looking forward to a pair of Hanwag mountaineering boots with a full rubber rand. Thanks for your opinions on Hanwag boots. Best regards from America.

Lowa high quality?!? have a pair of Lowa hiking boots, and last week while hiking in Norway the soles of both boots started to fall off within 15 minutes of each other. At the end the soles were only attached at the tip of the boot. The problem is apparently caused by a natural degradation of the polyurethane material that Lowa uses in the midlayer of the boot. So by using an inapropriate material (for hiking once or twice a year which many people do) Lowa are purposefully building degradation into their products. And they will NOT repair or replace your boots, only sell you new ones. Do yourself a favour and find a serious boot manufacturer. I'll newer buy Lowa again.

They have a great reputation here in the West as high-end boots, but like you, I was greatly disappointed. Back to Scarpa for me!
