Yellow shirt seems like he could play any sport. Grey shirt seems like his parents glued a racquet to his hands when he was 6 months old. Both types tend to end up as successful tennis players though

For those wondering what differentiates these guys from the pros in the top 100, remember these are the best points from their matches. You're not seeing the match as a whole, which probably has a lot of lower quality points as well. Tennis is about discipline and showing your peak form consistently throughout the entire match, among other factors. Pros have greater discipline, consistency, and overall athleticism.
@boson6336
@boson6336 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think college players can be flashier but are less consistent than pros, therefore the highlights can be deceiving.
@solowecr6840
@solowecr6840 2 жыл бұрын
@@boson6336 this seems to hold true even for lower tier schools such as D2-D3. Players will be going at it during a point and someone will get impatient and try to go for an unrealistic approach shot setup or simply try slapping it back to get a winner instead of just playing a comfortable pace. Quick point

Very perceptive comment. I would add that at the highest level there are a bunch of guys that read the game so well that they start moving earlier to every ball, some of them also have great efficiency with shot production so compared to these college guys the pros can look way more chill . . . like tennis is easy I a thinking of Federer, Djokovic, Medvedev
@jurassiclore5315

The biggest thing I have noticed is that pros consistently hit a lot higher. A lot of people at this level just hit fast and low on every shot in comparison. No margin for error

I don't get how these people can play tennis so good, and its not even pro level, it just boggles my mind. How can they hit the ball so powerful yet so clean and how are they so incredibly fast that they get to balls they should never have gotten and should be clear winners.

Yeah man, these guys would get wrecked on the Challenger tour. It's sad too, because the guys on the Challenger tour can't hardly make enough to feed their family. Take Devin Britton (NCAA champ) who couldn't make it on the tour and now is an Assistant Coach, Noah Rubin (ranked #1 in USA at Wake Forest) and he has a channel or something where he talks about depression / failing to make ends meet. & then Federer makes $93 million in 2019. It's not right. It's impossible for anyone else to catch up to that. I played #1 at a Division I school, but afterwards couldn't afford to spend $1,000 per weekend to go play in a tournament somewhere in the world for no prize money (maybe make $200). I wish I could have though, I would have literally been living my dreams from when I was a kid.

Steve K Whether success transfers to one level or not is very hard to guess. I know some juniors that i played who were beasts in the 16s and their level of play sharply declined when they got to the 18s and eventually into college. For some people it’s the exact opposite, the older they get the more their play style aids them.

Muscle memory and insane reading-the-opponent-skills. Where you and have hit balls thousands and thousands of times, they 've hit balls millions of times. Where you and I respond about 0.6-1s after the opponent hits the ball, they respond 0,3s after the hit or already positions themselves before the opponent even hits the ball since they read the body language. And because they have practiced and played so many matches, there's a lot going on at subconscious level. A lot of tennis patterns are fixed at pro-play. When to hit cross court etc.

Yellow guy is a player fr Israel and is #1 in college tennis 2019-20. He is very fit and naturally athletic. Can hit from any position on the court. The grey t-shirt guy is A. quarantine will end, think through what you most need to develop, maybe it's a time to work on your volley and/or serve, even using a wall and practicing your volley in-air non-stop from 7-8 feet helps w strength and timing, you can also do calisthenics for strength/conditioning. I was only 5.0 but was almost always the strongest, most fit guy on court. At any rate, think of what you can do and go for it. I got hurt in 15 and am 1/2 paralyzed now. I miss it too- hugely.

One of it is The pro players don’t make attacks all the time .these college students are attacking most of the shots.in pro if you put one ball into corner without off balancing them they will hit you back even harder.

These guys play flashier, but a "lowlights" real would probably answer your question. The level of consistency isn't at a pro level.

I know I'm not the only one that thought grey shirt's serve was weird. He tosses the balls and then after he's halfway done with the serve form, he looks up and hits the ball.

of interest serving in pro tennis has quite a few different forms.... you would think biomechanics says one way but actually its pretty varied in style.

I think that in terms of raw power and athleticism it'll look the same but the difference is in the margins. Slightly better placement on every ball and slightly more consistent on every ball. It's still nuts to think these guys would get absolulely bodied by anyone in the top 200

what actually is the advantage of platform? I've always served pin point and never really ever was told why someone might want to use platform. Is it just more simple? Less room for error since you aren't moving your right foot?
@miguelromero3256
@miguelromero3256 3 жыл бұрын
@@bonzwah1 supposedly, platform is better for movement into the court through the ball, while pinpoint is better for movement up through the ball. and yet some platform servers like federer drive higher off the ground than many pinpoint servers. platform is the old way and I think it's because the foot behind is a good start to push into the court to serve and volley
