Absolutely agree with number 1!! The Isofarian Guard is hands down my game of the year and we played it for 3 months straight without playing a SINGLE other game. Thats a feat no other game has achieved yet.

I'm glad you loved it,I wish I did too! I just couldn't handle the grind, and it really broke the immersion for me, and I lost focus on the main quest as the game demanded me to grind to get strong enough. I know that is a preference thing, and I can see how this is number 1 for many people.

Isofarian Guard was easily my favourite game of 2023, when we got past number 5 and it still hadn't been mentioned yet I got a bit disappointed thinking it wouldn't make the list! Great choices everyone, really solid top 20 this year.

Great list, all! Well done. Astro Knights was definitely higher on my list. I just love it and have been playing it a lot lately awaiting the expansion. Apiary has also been pulling my attention since arriving on my doorstep. It's been a lot of fun, colorful, and I enjoy the art so much. And 20 Strong... Yeah, that's been great. And now I have some games to look into!

Great list. Just got a copy of the 20 strong bundle and been having a blast so far. Glad to see Tamashii on here too! Played through the prologue mission last night and am really looking forward to diving into it more.

Thanks for checking out the video! The Isofarian Guard has a BGG review score of 8.9. First campaign was 3,934 backers pledging $260,938. (not including late backers/late adds) Second printing was 6,975 backers pledging $1,177,270. (not including late backers/late adds) The community is onto something as it made waves and I’ve enjoyed playing it as well! 🌊

Halls of Hegra is a great solo game and I would highly recommend especially if you are a fan of WWII. Excellent replay and events change tactics every play.

I appreciate all the work you do, but man, I don’t like the video formatting you used here. Approximately 15-20% of the screen area is lost to the bars at the top and bottom of the screen, then you’re only devoting half of what’s left to actual boardgame footage. I’m guessing that’s probably only around 40-45% of the total screen area. That makes it less than ideal for viewing on a phone. Pinching to zoom helps but the image is too blurry even at 1080p. Please don’t take this the wrong way, I just want to offer some (hopefully) constructive criticism. Again, thanks for the great content!

Thanks for the feedback. I don’t take feedback in that way. I’ve made notes myself of things I want to improve while I’m making these better one step at a time. I got some great feedback that this layout was much better than previous. Still have a couple other changes to make. 😄 Be sure you’re watching at 4K as the video is processed to that level. So watching at 1080p will inherently make it blurry too. I have a couple current constraints and limits on my cameras and screens to work around. I’ve got a couple purchases to make to help.

20 strong … you called the production value low. I think you meant the cost (for a chip theory games) is low … the production value is HIGH.

Overall it was a good production. The cards were very impressive. The dice could have been better. They tried to do a lot with them with the two tone look. The two tone colour didn’t really work as planned fully and they do have a very very strong smell that was pretty bad. But the gameplay makes up for it. 😄👍🏼

Hmmm maybe I'm getting them mixed up but is Hoplomachus Remaster PVP with no solo and Victorum is the solo version?

Nope! Remastered was voted in for 2023 and Victorum took the 3rd position in 2022. Victorum was one of those weird ones that landed before the end of 2022 and crested in 2023 too. So I had it on the 2022 list only.

@@RollingSolo I figured that much, l just found it odd that the video is top 20 Solo and the PvP version of hoplomachus made it on the list vs the Solo version 😅. Like I said I thought Remaster was strictly pvp, didn't know it had a solo aspect to it.

Check page 23 of the rulebook! Onslaught Mode and Ascension Mode. The original Hoplo had Origins as its solo mode. Which was a lot of fun. 😄

The only reason zombicide is so high up is due to the Marvel name attachment. It's still zombicide. 😂. I thought you were not including expansions in the list - is the new Too many bones an expansion or a totally new player able core game?

Hey Mark! Marvel IP helped but that was more obvious. Zombicide still pushed its way up into the Top 5. TMB Unbreakable is a standalone game. Thanks for watching! 😄

@@RollingSolo cool thanks for clearing that up as many reviewers seem to call TMB Unbreakable an expansion which threw me a little. I'm assuming it's an expansion in terms of a different location/World in its gaming universe so new mechanics etc etc not just a bolt on too the Core game. 👍
