Honda's FourTrax Recon 250 is one of our favorite ATVs. We have three Honda Recons in our Southwest ORV fleet - one foot-shift model, and two electric shift models. We have found in the past that our Recons tend to run between 45-50 mph top speed. Our 2020 Hond Recon 250 ES has been a ton of fun, and it has been reliable for us. I placed a phone in my pocket with an app recording gps data in order to arrive at the machine's top speed. It's our opinion that the Recon 250's top speed is perfectly adequate for the intended uses of the ATV.

45 is crazy, with mine I could probably get 40 riding the limiter, but I dont like riding the limiter

Yes, we have four of these machines and they all top out about the same, although the 250X goes a little higher top end.

Are those automatic?

No, they are shifted manually. In this case, it has buttons to shift gears.

Yessir! Although, I've read that the 250X might have some very small differences in the head/cam area to bump power a tiny bit. But it's not much if any.
