Last year I finally made a point to build out my summer wardrobe which I am still refining. My go-tos are clothing in linen & light-weight cotton, such as poplin, or a blend thereof, a wide-brimmed straw hat, sunglasses. I've come to accept the wrinkly-ness that comes with linen & I'd rather be comfortable anyway. :) Currently in the process of looking for a summer bag & footwear. Shoes are my nemesis since I have hard to fit feet & live in a city where I walk everywhere. So comfort must be married to aesthetics, which is harder to find than it should be! I like your suggestions, though!

Spring/Summer are my favorite seasons for dressing. I don’t like being so bundled up in boots, scarves, coats and sweaters. Much more fun looks in warm weather! Love wearing black, linen, cottons, and colorful dresses. So many items can be dressed up or down just by changing accessories.

Living in hot humid NC I have always wished for more videos like this that focus on being more comfortable while not giving up style. The way you have your hair up, mention how jewelry is uncomfortable in the heat, and open toes is absolutely a fact of life in these areas. Having been to Charleston in July before I know it's even more hot and humid, and a very walkable place. Choose natural fabrics.

A dress is definitely a good choice in the heat, is dressy, is easy and it can be Very comfortable if you pick the right one, it can even be long and still be fresh while keeping you elegant.

Very helpful tips, instead of black, I reach for white with my straw hat/handbag in beige tones. When the occasion calls for a dressy one, I definitely go to all white, with a fabulous chunky stone/coral necklace or bracelet. We all know the classic summer pieces never go out of style but also understand the life of summer clothing is one or two Season, at best, not a long one. Sending a large virtual ice tea with fresh mint for all!😎

A summer essential (and winter for that matter) is a hat. Not for everybody but a personal favorite. 👒

I’ve also found an essential thing for me to feel like my wardrobe has truly changed from Fall and Spring to Summer, is to start wearing brighter and more vibrant colors. Usually warmer colors too. I love feeling like I’m on a tropical or beach vacation in the summer just based off what I’m wearing! Even if I’m just at home. Helps to make me feel like I’m embracing the season and like I “match” the season.

Yes, we do need to actually get dressed in the summer, sometimes! These are great suggestions. I especially like the tops and the looser sleeves.

Some people love black but it's not my colour for summer. My summer wardrobe is full of colours from, cream, white, pastels and bright colours. All of these colours remind me of summer.

I don't buy much for summer because I live in the north where the hot season is short. It usually doesn't start at all until June and isn't hot most of the time until July. Even then we can have days under 80 degrees. By mid-September, it's cooling down. I also prefer to buy sweaters and ankle boots to summer clothes.

🥵🥵🥵🔥🔥🏜️ Ooooo…Audrey we could exchange notes. I live in the California desert and it’s starting to blaze up. I’ve been preparing for this like squirrel collecting nuts. 🥜 I have ALL cotton dresses, except one (it’s slightly dressy). I have all cotton underwear, all cotton tops. So shirts with long sleeves that I can roll up because…heat on your arms isn’t pretty so I protect my skin. I also have two pair of Birkenstocks (black & camel) because I do lots of walking in doors (like the mall) to get exercise. I also wear all cotton ankle pants, cotton shorts, (camel & navy) and if I could find some cute patterned cotton scarves I would buy them for my hair. I like to cover it in the summer since it’s grey and I wear lots of solids so a cute summer print would compliment the solids. I use smaller totes & very light makeup like liquid eye shadow and lipgloss. I do have T-shirts but I have found some with a cute shape at the bottom. I do like black in the summer but only if I know I’m not going to be actually out in the sun. So cute cotton tops with some sort of cool shape that makes them look like more stylish with simple bottoms. I also wear my sling back pointed flats in summer and white denim that isn’t super thick (cropped wide leg jeans). I only wear thinner denim in the summer months that can carry me into the full year with just changing the top. Whew…so much work living in a hot climate, but it’s very beautiful here. Audrey, you picked some beautiful handbags and some very nice blouses. I also love the flare to your shorts and skort they made them look even more stylish. This, unfortunately, includes my feet. I've been finding it harder to present well in the summer as a consequence. It's also incredibly difficult to stay reasonably cool and sweat -free!

Thank you for this video 😊it helps me a lot to focus on my summer wardrobe! I recently went to Cartagena -Colombia, the country where I’m from. It’s a very hot weather and people are very elegant. I saw the use of linen pants, shorts, t-shirts and very simple dresses all in earth colors. Women pay special attention to accessories in anthropomorphic figures and this makes a simple cotton or linen shirt stand out! Flat sandals in beautiful leather and bags made in straw. No loud brands instead quiet luxurious purses, belts and shoes also made in beautiful real leather.

I agree with you Audrey. Summer is my least favorite season for many reasons including dressing. But the good news is after summer comes fall or as like I like to call it boot season. One request, can you do a video on your summer skin care routine. Keep the videos coming.

This was a great video, Audrey. I live in Scottsdale, Arizona and this year I have come to embrace it more in terms of fashion. I too, want to be comfortable and less worried about sweating in tight fitting tops. I sometimes size up when I purchase sleeveless tops/sweaters. I have purchased two pairs of linen tailored shorts and three breezy dresses. I am also wearing some casual straight leg linen pants with an elastic waist. I would love you to consider doing a styling video with Birkenstock sandals. I have one pair and am contemplating buying another that I really like. Thanks for your styling tips.

My summer essentials are pleated midi A-line shirts with sleeveless lightweight tops, typically with a neckline detail like a cowl neck or ruffles and ones that can be tucked... It's flowy, lightweight and easy. If I want to look more casual then I swap my skirt for a highwaisted lightwash cropped mom jean. I usually like ballet flats or espadrilles for shoes. My color palette is ivory, olive green, blush pink, dusty rose, navy blue, taupe, and chestnut. I'm a dark autumn so those colors make my complexion stand out! I love dressing for spring the most, and I totally understand what you mean about dressing for Summer... I hate it.

I live in a Midwestern city that gets unbelievably hot and humid in the summers. Summers are also my least-favorite season. I live in the lightest solid color cotton and linen dresses, ideally with over-sized sleeves and an A-line silhouette that can easily be cinched with a belt for more structure or formality. I also invested in very minimal Camper sandals that are a dream to walk in but let my feet breathe. Good luck this summer, everyone!

I wear linen or cotton teas to toe in summer, mostly flowy or oversized pieces. I need the air between fabric and skin. I also like linen dresses.

I find summer the easiest season to dress for because it requires less pieces of clothing to coordinate. E.g., a dress is a breezy, one & done outfit.

I would love if we could see the back side of the outfits too! I seem to always struggle with liking the front of my outfit but not the back 🥺

I wear dresses almost all the time when I leave my home. There is almost always a scarf tied to my handbag (usually a structured bag). Once I left the house w/o earrings, felt naked. lol, now there is an emergency pair of earrings in my car. Thanks for your great tips.

Super curious how you are styling Birkenstocks. I've been trying to find something more streamlined (one of my 3 words) and just as comfortable sans thong - no luck yet. I don't love how chunky they are but post foot surgery I'm doing whatever I need to take care of myself. It'd be nice to feel like I can wear them because I want to, not just out of necessity.

I wear almost exclusively sundresses in summer. I find them effortless and much more comfy and cool than shorts or pants. I need more sunglasses though! Love yours!

I noticed that in summer I tend to wear less casual clothes even when I am at home or I go grocery shopping. In autumn and winter when I come back home I take off my shirt or figure hugging sweater and lounge around in a t shirt and a woolen cardigan that I can easily take off or put on depending on the temperature and I like wearing navy knitted pants. But in summer everything changes and when I come back home I take off my sundress and change into a cute blouse that I wear also in my free time and a pair of tailored shorts. I lounge around in the outfit that I could easily go to a casual meeting with my friend in. I dont know why but in the summer I am suddenly more playful with my clothes

I live in Portugal and in Summer it gets to a point where any type of heel is unbearable. I think you can still look chic in flat sandals and dresses. And I avoid jewellery in Summer, except for earrings.😊

Gurl, I love all your videos because they are classy and relatable. But I'm disagree with you this time. As you show so much darker outfits ideas today. The colour black or darker colours are a big no no in summers. Black colour absorb all the wavelengths of light and reflect non, making it more hotter. And it really doesn't matter even if you choose cotton or linen, black is black. I myself wear black all year around. So here are some of my tips if you want to wear black in summers:- • Wear it when you're inside the premises that are fully air conditioned like Office, cafes,malls etc. Avoid black when traveling or if you're roaming under the sun •Wear black in night. •Avoid full sleeves or too much coverage when wearing black. • Try to avoid much fitted black clothes, opt for airy or loose style tops instead. • Avoid polyester in black, it cause rashes and sticky sometimes if you sweat too much. • Lastly It really depends upon the weather of the country you're living in. If you from region that experience less warm summers, then you're good to go in all black as well. But I belong to a country where summers are hot as hell and moisty. So I followed the above tips. 😉
