Some of my favorite moments in DCI history. There are too many shows to choose from, but these stood out to me the most. I would like to hear what your favorite moments are in the comments.

It would be cool if DCI could do like a "pro bowl corps" at the end of the season, of all of the best corps members from around DCI. That corps would learn a sick new show and perform at the super bowl every year :D Or they could just let the champions march every year. ...or let the fans vote on their favorite corps. :) Maybe the crowd-favorite idea would be the best....since the general public is all about being entertained. I bet people would like shows like Tilt or 1995 Scouts :)

@@GingerKing243 Just my opinion of course, but I see DCI a sport (it's more than just a sport, but still). I think it's sad that they don't get paid. How cool would it be if every NFL team had a drum corps! More jobs for musicians :)
@GingerKing2435 жыл бұрын
@@dctrbrass Oh trust me, I get that. I really try to push to people to understand that it's a sport because it is. If you can't see that, then your letting your own arrogance (marchers) or ignorance (general pop) blind you. A lot of sports teams have drumlines, but they're never featured which kind of sucks. Even the few football teams who have a full band, no screen time or field time. Which is kind of ironic considering college football games are all about the halftime shows and the band. I do plan on starting a Drum Corps one day though. I plan on basing them out of Detroit, MI. I'm willing to talk about all of my plans with the corps in the DMs. Don't want to leak the details of my plans to the general public and have my ideas completely stolen. But yeah, it's seriously a shame that no drum corps has ever been featured at the Super Bowl. I half get it because "band" and it's not pop music, but it's still nonetheless crappy. If they could get a corps there or an all-star team, it'd be cool to see multiple corps directors band together to create a super show. You could even break certain DCI rules for this show, like no pyrotechnics, liquids, and smoke. It'd be pretty dope to see a show with stuff like that.

I was in the Argonne Rebels DB Corp in the 1970s. We were a founding member of DCI. But, goodness... Seeing the Corp shows of today is just incredible. We were in tune with structured straight lines and choreography that is antiquated by today's standards. WOW what happened? I'm proud that is older folks from the DCI beginnings can see what has happened to DB shows. None of this would have been allowed back then. The Argonne Rebels came from a small town in central Kansas but was able to compete with major cities with resources we couldn't imagine. BUT we did win a national title VFW in 1972 1973. It was a thrill I will never forget. Winning over Cavaliers, Troopers and other well known Corps of the day probably shouldn't have happened but IT DID. Not bad for a town of 18,000. History will show we had the best hornline of any. All those 5AM winter rehearsal s paid off. Sandra Opie is to be commended for her devotion and insight. Dam... I wish I still had my Soprano bugle. Have been searching but so far no luck. I'm totally into DB Corp again and can't wait to Dawn my Argonne Rebels jacket and attend the next DCI championship. Incredible!!!

One cool thing is that your choices did not match up with the winners each year. We all understand the technical aspects, but also appreciate some of the showmanship elements, which I think is your focus. For me I can say without reservation that Bluecoat's 2004 Tilt ending is the best I have ever seen. The major leap at the end; the joy of the girls who caught him, etc. The end of the longest and most taxing weeks of their life all ending with that leap. Oh, to have been in that crowd. I get goose bumps just thinking about it.
@jahmallidge51154 жыл бұрын
Bluecoats 2010 had some great moments. I also loved the drill for Cadets 2007 along with the music selections (voice was overdone in that show though). Encore in Crown 2011 was really cool and a good example of a crows pleaser. The intro in BD 2011 show gave me the feels. The "wink" is another great moment. Star 93, SCV 1989, Scouts 1988, mid 90s Blue Devils and 70s Scouts were some early classics. So much to choosr from

Aaron Reilman yeah. There has to be a build up to it or else it’s not special. The company front is a perfect exercise in precision marching. When it’s done right, it’s special. It’s one of the Cadets’ hallmarks and yeah, taken as a whole, that was a brilliant closer.

Grew up going to these competitions. My brothers were members of the original Bayonne Bridgemen. Still love these talented corps even after all these years.

Bridgemen were so ahead of their time in many ways. Gotta love em! I'm surprised Black Market Juggler didn't make these compilations.

Flo has copyright bots that will find and strike any videos that contain clips past 2015, so I had to stick with 2014 and before. I'm still figuring out what I can do to resolve that issue.

My friend is the soloist in Juliet 2008, he messed up on the solo and we still have a good old laugh about it when we go out for cold beers at our local bar whenever he flies by LA (He's in the presidential band)

That valve trick from Frameworks was so epic. Got to lose to them all season and never understood why people labeled that moment as “Fight Club”. They were just so polished.
