Good video. To add, I recommend Gradius Gaiden, Umihara Kawase Shun, and Adventure of Little Ralph.

Interesting selection, but Gradius Gaiden would top the 2 shmups included here for most shmup fans. It's widely considered the best Gradius game in the serie and is exclusive to Japan.

I remember playing a good macross game demo on a disc but it was import only I guess. Megaman Racer also.

Yup Policenaughts is the business. Have you ever tried The Firemen 2: Pete and Danny? That's a pretty decent JPN exclusive title

Yeah it's worth a look man, it's a sequel to a SNES game. Sort of like a 2D action puzzle platformer, you play as firemen putting out fires, saving people & progressing through the stages.

I wish they made more fighting games with quest modes like Tobal 2, and Erghiez. Both of those games I have had a blast with, especially Erghiez having rogue like randomly generated dungeons

Try out shaolin on the PS1 if you can, its like an open ended martial arts rpg with one on one fights. You grow from a child to an old man/woman whilst learning many different forms of martial arts as you travel the world, it’s amazing!

Tobal 2 is very in depth and has a hard learning curve, due to the tight frame windows on advanced combos and normals. Quite ahead of it's time. The English patch is recommended for the Quest mode.

wow I've never ever heard of Panzer Bandit but it looks so close to Guardian Heroes I'm surprised Treasure didn't sue.

2:50 It's full name is actually 幕末浪漫月華の剣士 (Bakumatsu Roman Gekka no Kenshi). Gekka no Kenshi translates to something like Swordsman of the Moon Flower. I'm not sure though.

There is a Bomberman Japanese game but I can't remember the name. It's like the Super Bomberman 5 for SNES but much better.

A great bunch of games for sure! I'd probably include Rival Schools 2, Tail Concerto and maybe one of the Ganbare Goemon games.

KidShoryuken yes, but which Goemon? Shin Seddai Shumei is amazing, has a Mega Man X4 vibe. Oedodaikaiten is a masterpiece, with it's graphics and gameplay. But honestly, even though it's text heavy, I fell in love with Uchuu Kaizoku Akogingu. The characters, the exp system, the giant levels. It ain't no SNES game!!

Actually, out of all of them I tend to prefer Kuru Nara Koi! Ayashige Ikka no Kuroi Kage. I think it's a very enjoyable 3-D platformer.

I would only buy a Japanese model PS1 to get Tobal 2 yes the game maybe expensive nowadays but I’m willing to cop it since it’s like Tekken but with 200 characters holy damn

Persona 2 IS is illegaly on that list, a PSP version which is more or less 1:1 identical was released 10 years later

Love your content but the emulation filters you’re using are painful to watch, they absolutely destroy the integrity of the sprite work not to mention the stretching to 16:9.

For a console that we keep praising for its 3D capabilities (largely overestimated by the way) It's funny to see that in this top 10 the majority of games are in 2D ...

Well to be fair they weren’t releasing these games to the rest of the world because at the time we were so obsessed with 3D in general. Or at least the Sony execs thought we were.
