The top ten songs entered in Music Contest 6 hosted on Hornet.org in 1998. The Music Contest series was a popular contest hosted yearly throughout the 90s and this was the final contest before Hornet.org shut down. Many veteran trackers entered in the contests and these are the top ten entries for 1998! Some songs have gone on to become classics, while many are still relatively obscure today.
Starting with number 10, biohazard by loonie, and counting down to number 1.

Awesome piece of online music history here. Thanks for taking the time. My personal favorite was #9 Smash - Scandal. I'm surprised it didn't rank higher.

Demoscene music contests always seemed randomized to me, even ignoring my own successes or lack thereof; I STILL listen to Loonie's #10 song and some of the higher ranked pieces just sound like garbage to me, haha. But so it goes. Points were probably given in part for sample usage and innovation or similar, this being the era where there was still so much novelty in composing on computers.

Dear GOD, I forgot about the Lamer's Ballad. Thanks for the flashback! I entered a tune into MC6 myself, in the Rookie category! Placed around middle of the pack. That's what I get for entering a chiptune ;)

Haha, I had no idea back in the day that they kept going past Music Contest 3, probably because I was so disappointed with my terrible ranking in 1 and 2 that I just gave up on trying to impress anyone else :) I still think my track for 2 was pretty good though!
