That entry for #6 was so touching. It goes to show how much emotion you put into all these videos you do, and makes me realize I probably missed out heavily on that game. I only ever got to play the DS version, but back then I was absolutely terrible at platformers and maybe games in general, so I got rid of it. I probably have that game to thank for some of my favorite games, like Shovel Knight and Shantae.

Being born in 2000 I never played 64, (just got the DS version), but I know what you mean. I get the exact same nostalga playing Galaxy, and even more so with Wii Sports, as it was the first video game I ever played.

Yo Logan, did you hear? Bowser's Inside Story is getting remade, along with another SMASH for the SWITCH. Lord Fawful is returning once again after the remake for Superstar Saga. Edit: Wow, never in my life would I see that my comment has been highlighted. Thanks Logan, nice to see that you and I are pumped for the remake. Sadly, it won't come out till 2019, but from the trailer I saw, there's a mode where you play as Bowser Jr, similar to how Minion Quest worked in the Superstar Saga remake

Personally I love how much of a threat Bowser is in Galaxy 1. Galaxy 2 was apart of an era where you don’t take the guy seriously. He was turned into an antihero in BIS. I say their tied looking at them both. Sure there are better stars in Galaxy 2 but there are also shit ones I can never get into.

I think that the people who prefer Galaxy one over two (myself included) just have unshakable nostalgia. If I think about gameplay, level design, and amount of content, Galaxy 2 definitely comes out on top. I think its better than Galaxy one, but I'm just too damn fond of that game to give it any negativity. I recognize its probably just nostalgia blindness, but ill be damned if I ever come to dislike it.

Mark Spangler I admittedly will agree with that to an extent. I have The original Galaxy as a special place in my heart, and I still like it over 2. I like the music better, it had better galaxies in my opinion, and they replaced Rosalina with a fat purple Luna. I still think that both are some of the 5 greatest 3D platformers of all time though

I used to have legitimate trouble figuring out which was better, but then I discovered Galaxy 2's green stars. The shameless, boring, uninspired, and cheap filler preventing me from seeing the final level was enough to convince me which game was better. (it wasn't galaxy 2)

The reason why _I_ prefer Galaxy over Galaxy 2 is because it feels more unique. Galaxy 2 adds more to the table, yes, but it also plays it a little safe with its atmosphere and elements. I'm not too big of a fan of Mario games that play it safe, which is why you won't see me defending the New Super Mario Bros. series -besides DS- too often. Galaxy has a more compelling story, original setpieces, and a more down-to-earth -tee-hee- tone that makes it more enjoyable for me on top of the gameplay. An analogy would be having two cakes. Galaxy is a small cake with loads of icing and toppings, while Galaxy 2 is a large cake with icing and toppings only on individual slices.

I give you props for showing off the GBA remakes of the Super Mario Advance series. Nearly every KZfaqr puts aside the GBA remakes for the original, perhaps for good reasons, but mostly connected to their nostalgia. The E-Reader levels were really what sold me into SMA4 back when it was released. I went out of my way for the E-Reader. But to see the levels actually MENTIONED FOR ONCE IN GODS LIFE. I'm pleased.

As my all time favorite track in the game, you really got me thinking of my own memories with the title. You're pretty inspirational in the countdown part of KZfaq and I thank you for it. I have more love for Galaxy 1 because it gives more intimacy between player and game. It had so many quiet, lonely moments. I feel like the second one wasn't as original as the first was, and it felt like it wanted to just be a platformer. The first one embraced the gravity mechanic a lot more, and it just had better atmosphere for me. Galaxy 2 was something I played in the background, but I've never had a game demand my attention like the first game did. Just my personal preference though, galaxy 2 was quite a lot of fun

Yes I’m four years late to this but I don’t care- Galaxy 2 actually started development because the Galaxy 1 team had so many ideas for the game that they felt they had to make it a sequel. I think Galaxy 2 originated as DLC or something for the first game. Just a little fun fact I found one day while interneting!

Super Mario Galaxy 2 has been my favorite game of all time ever since its release. A couple years ago I questioned if I was simply nostalgia blind, but i played through it again only to see that my assessment of the game’s quality has hardly changed. Galaxy 1 and Odyssey are both very close behind SMG2 in my opinion, but nothing will ever top just how brilliantly designed its levels are and how amazing its soundtrack is.

Emboar ThePizzaRoll Meh, I'm not a big fan of 64. Granted the majority of what I've played is the DS version, but even the 64 version just feels REALLY clunky.

Your childhood statement about Mario 64 would be Mario 3 for me. I was already a teenager when 64 came out and didn't play it until 98. Mario 3 was a game my late uncle john absolutely adored. Every time I went to visit, he'd be playing with my cousins. Although he died young about 23 years ago (I think today) I will always see my him when I play this game, and when I show it to my young nephew.

Whenever I'm feeling sad, I alswase come watch you minion. Even though I'm barely old enough to feel nostalgia, your videos make me nostalgic for my younger days, playing Pokemon fire red and super Mario ds while dad worked at AutoZone. Man now I'm all sad again .
