I would have said the IH 806 instead of the 1206 - these were not that common in most markets. Good video - keep up the good work.

I grew up on a 806. My neighbor had a 4020. We pulled 5x16 plows side by side. Not even close. They were on par with a 706.

JD 4020...........I got out of the service in Oct of 67 and recall stopping in the bar for a cold beer one Friday night. A well known,hard working farmer stopped in and told me he just bought a new 4020 with 5 bottom plow. He complained how expensive new machinery was, held up his glass of beer and told me........" this is all that was left of $10,000 after buying tractor and plow "

How did tractors like the IH-1206, the Fordson, and the Oliver 1950 make this list? What is the comparison criteria? Many of these machines were made in very low numbers compared to tractors that rightfully belong on this list, like the D-17 and the 4020. This seems like a list of stuff you like, not necessarily a list of industry-changing machines. I mean... a Super Dexta being honorable mention to the 4020? Come on!

My list, based on my area and the fact that I'm an Allis man and a farmer who used a run a few of these machine and still do at times, and based more by the popularity at the time I was running these different makes or similar models than going by what the collectors are after. Collectors are collectors and not looking for a farm tractor so for me the list would go something like this: #10 Ford 5000... Ford wasn't big here either but there were a few 5000's around, and the ones who had them liked them. Dad used to also rent a Fordson Power Major which was similar to and a forerunner of the 5000 and the Power Major was a very fuel efficient tractor and so was the 5000. #9 Oliver 1850... There was a pocket of Oliver owners here and the 1850 had a pretty good reputation although I thought they were a bit clumsy they were a good heavy field tractor. #8 IH 560... They had a bad rap but there were still a lot of them around here.... I mean a lot. I used to drive the neighbors two 560's once in a while when he hired me and other neighborhood boys to bale hay. The 560's pulled the wagons. Most around here were gas models. #7 Oliver 1650... again there was a pocket of Oliver owners here due to a good local dealer and the 1650 was fairly common here, not like Allis or Deere or IH but there were some around. I drove one for a guy moving round bales one weekend. It kind of reminded me of driving a 190 Allis as far as being handy and the controls were set up fairly nice. #6 John Deere 3020... I guess enough people thought they were good enough because there were quite a few around. At the time I was working for neighbors in the early 1980's baling hay and whatnot, there were more IH's in my area but the 3020 made a good showing despite their hard starting feature.... I can't help slapping a Deere down. ;) #5 IH 806... Again there was quite a peck of them around along with the 706. I used to drive a 706 for a neighbor sometimes, again pulling a baler. The 706 gave the most smooth ride for a tractor that I had even been on up to that time. Still a few 806/706's around blowing snow and odd jobs here. There were probably more 806's around than the 706 so 806 gets #5 spot. #4 John Deere 4020... Again there must be some people who like the odd ball. :) But I've driven them and used them in the field a couple times. Nice handling, good hydraulics and there are a bunch around.... more it seems now than back when I first started driving tractors. IH was still number one seller in my area but I guess peer pressure makes me rank the 4020 here at #4.... Can I list what I don't like about the 4020? :) #3 Allis-Chalmers 180... Yes because I can and there were and still are quite a few Allis' in my area because we used to have several good dealers. So the 180 was very popular here. Some Allis guys will argue that the 180/185 was the best AC ever built only to be argued against by D17 lovers. They have great hydraulics and can outwork other like size models listed here like the 1650 or 5000 in most jobs. Just a good all around good reliable tractor that if you grew up using them, the live PTO instead of the independent PTO was a non factor. #2 Allis-Chalmers 190XT... Again because I can. Around here there were lots of them and between just family members and cousins, we own 9 of them still. The comfort of operating a 190 is surpassed by none from that era, including the 4020. Console controls that groups hydraulics, draft and position control, 3-point, Power Director shift, throttle and the hydraulic PTO all to the right of your seat. The super large platform, rugged 3 point hitch, turbocharged, dry air cleaner, alternator, 48 gallon fuel tank, you sit nice and high so you are in command, a deluxe seat with lots of adjustment, and tilt steering. And the power is unstoppable and a 190XT just sips the fuel like no other in the mean time. We just love the 190XT tractor. #1 Allis-Chalmers D17... Yep still my list and the D17 was just so popular here in what used to be dairy country. I don't think I can count all the D17's owned and still owned by my family over the farming years. Dad's was his main tractor for so many years doing everything from heavy work (until the 190 came along), light field work, manure hauling, loader work, etc etc. It moved every day of the year on the farm. The WD45 drew Dad from IH to Allis and the D17 kept him with Allis. J.I. Case, Massey and Minneapolis Moline were just none factors in my area.... but if I gave an honorable mention it would be the Case 930. There were a very few around and I can ame two 1030's.... pretty much no other 30 series though. Dad used to rent a 930 and although it took an acre to turn around it was a good lugging tractor. It did have an ether addition but it did some of our heavy work over on the rented ground until the 190XT came along...........That's my list and I'm sticking to it. :)

Well I got the 3010 and the 135. So 2 out of 15 isn't bad. They still run well and are used often

I laughed at listing number 10 for the 3010. We farmed 1400 acres. My neighbor needed help in 1965 putting up silage. I went over to help and climbed on the 3010. It was a piece of junk. The gear shift handles were all busted up. I guess it got rough treatment. Eaglegards... P.S. Our family farm bought a new Oliver 1950 front wheel drive assist with GM engine. It was a great tractor. We put two 20' harrows side by side with a 40' drag behind it.

A lot of red guys can say what they want about the new generation of power. But that 3010& 4010 caught everyone off guard. It took Allis Chalmers 19 years to come up with something comparable

You messed up the 930 should have been number one it's a hundred times better than a 4020 . 4020s are junk
