Can I say that the patron at the beginning has some serious talent for acting? The beginning skit felt just like a scene from The Godfather.

I must concur with Oscar about the opening crime lord bit. While I admit, I'm not a connoisseur of the Godfather or other mafia-type content, I respect the talent and dedication of any actor. And that was a splendorous opening!

The suit is very becoming of you, which makes me think your pal Comic could be your right-hand man. Now, onto business. 10: Every master needs an heir, and every heir needs a bodyguard...a good start, but you need more convincing tastes. 9: Politics have been prime criminal soil since the days of kings...and this one got dethroned by a gang of thieves who were wronged by him. Proof that the Phantoms of his past misdeeds would be his downfall. 8: A man who built his gang with noble intentions...but over time devolved into a pack of wolves. I feel sympathy for this man, despite what he had become. 7: A woman who's climbed her way to the top, stayed there, and when knocked down, gets back up and takes it back one way or another. Truly a boss to fear and respect. 6: A con man who slipped by every cop and tracker across the world, and under the ocean, even managed to usurp command of the city. Well-played tactics can only go so far...as eventually fate and luck eventually catches up. 5: A trio with money, power, and technique in one package...all with villainous intent and people who want them dead. 4: The original crime boss in this series had dignity, and knew how to run his operations. Even managed to keep his sentence clean enough to earn Gym Leader rank. The classic example of a leader done right. 3: A literal underworld crime boss who has a handle on the most sought after treasure....one way tickets to the afterlife. All while keeping his skeletal fingers clean...before getting sown the seeds of defeat. 2: Rise up, get knocked down, rise again, and the guy who tried to off you gets to sleep with the fishes...he's a true gangster and crime boss. 1: The Dragon of Dojima....raised as a gang member, left that world, but protects the people while dealing with his own dark past. The most influential, and most famous gang boss, of gaming.

The intro alone told me that this countdown was gonna be awesome and an interesting one at that. "Ruin has come to our family." Another cryptic message for the next countdown.

Crime lords aren't necessarily villains, they're more like calculating chess players, and while they can be powerful allies given the right conditions, there's also a big chance that trusting them can land you in very hot scalding water if you make one wrong move that sets them off.

A few I expected, and a few I did not expect! I love this list and I hope it was an engaging topic for you. Well done, Oscar! The Gamefather is pleased. 😎

Honestly Grimm Fandango would make a great animated series especially with to days internet.

Kiryu also ends up acting as a leader figure for other Yakuza families in other parts of Japan, in Yakuza 3 with the Ryudo family in Ryukyu Okinawa and the Hirose family in Onomichi Hiroshima.

I gotta say, even though I love Kiryu, he's one of my favorite characters from anything ever, I'm not sure he really counts as a "Crime Boss". Like you said, he's pretty much never in a leadership position except for his approximate 30 seconds as the fourth Tojo Clan Chairman. That said, I certainly get it, like I said, Favorite Character and all that, but me? I would've gone with Goro Majima. Captain of his own family, complete loon, and a deeply moral and tragic man hiding under all that snakeskin and crazy.

Bruh, where my man majima at, HE HAS HIS OWN CONSTRUCTION THEME SONG!!! On a side note he's the true rival to kiryu, holds just as much fear and respect in universe from ally and enemy, and unlike kiryu who (arguably) left the life when given the chance, majima said "f@#$ it" and willingly choo chooed the fake insanity train into becoming the most chaotic character in the yakuza franchise and his story with makoto is downright heartbreaking. Maybe you could do a top 10 about individuals who let go of those they loved for their safety.😀 At least kiwami 2 ends this plotline from 0 rather nicely.

Actually, Giovanni uses ground types because the majority of his subordinates use poison types. He has to keep them in line through type advantage.

His arc ready was interesting, not one of my favorites but check out the Edgelord list for them. 9: I just started Royal and he is still a Dickhead. Next time be more cognisant. 8: He was a wild west man thru and thru, too bad he let it all crumble. 7: The only thing you need to remember, Don't fuck with Omega. 6: Would you kindly betray your morals to try and beat me? 5: A triple threat of Geese, Heihachi, and Bison. DAMN! 4: Nothing like a classic to just miss the top three. Guzma and Archie along with him are my favorites. 3: Crime never dies, it just sets up shop elsewhere. 2: Going from The Top to the Bottom to the Top again. Nice work 1: The Dragon of Dojima takes his place at the top. Wait Ruin.... Okay what happened? Unless, the Big Boss is behind it.

Fuyuhiko went from being one of my least favorite characters, to one of my favorite characters. His arc is so good in the game, and is pretty great in the anime. And I agree with you Scorpion, Aoi is my favorite in Danganronpa. I love that series.

I had a cool idea for a count down. Top 10 Shapeshifters. By which I mean anybody who can freely alter their appearance however they wish in some manner. Whether they use it for good, evil, combat, espionage, or even just mischief, Anyone who can look like anything or anyone will work. Its a common ability in fiction going back to the myths of many cultures. Rules though: -No illusions or disguises. That's a separate ability/skill that while it suits a certain archetype that includes Shapeshifters, they aren't directly connected unless used together. (By disguise I obviously mean normal, mundane disguises) -They can be a member of a Shapeshifting Race or a Unique individual, but only one Character. -Transformation doesn't count, by which I mean merely having an alternate form or a few doesn't count. At the very least, it either won't get you on the list or high up. Being able to turn into a fish or a bird is shapeshifting, but if that's all, it's not enough. -The source can be biological, magical, or technological. No source isn't viable so long as it meets the other criteria. They must still obviously be shapeshifting though -Each spot will be ranked based on uniqueness and how interesting they are. Other contributions could be skill as a Shapeshifter, how often it's used, unique takes on the concept, whether or not you can tell they're acting as someone else, etceteras. (This is just how I think it should go) -Shapeshifting into the appearance of someone/thing else exclusively is alright (like copying), but bonus points if you don't have that limitation (can make their own appearance like a character creator). Additional bonus points if they do the latter more often -The other Rules apply as normal. Personally, I'd like a list like this. I'm relatively certain we could see a couple franchises we usually do, but I think this would give us some faces we haven't seen before. Whether those faces are really new or just an old one in a new skin, I don't know. Some immediate candidates that come to Mind are Neeko from League, Ditto from Pokemon, and a couple others. I'm not an expert on this kind of research. Just an idea I had and developed for like, 5 minutes

Well, I'd argue that Heihachi is more of a CEO, and Bison is more of a dictator, but Geese, he's the real deal. ^^ Always awesome to see he gets remembered, I've always loved his no bulshit approach to being a crime boss. And that's why Geese always lives on, even if only in our nightmares ;)

Honorable mention 2: vallerie from Tales of the Borderlands, this crimeboss is the second antagonist in this telltale games exclusive, she wants the gortys project to open the vault of the traveler to get rich, she sends mercs after you, she gets your friends to turn on you, and she even KILLS GORTYS when the traveller monster is too much to deal with on her own. (Gortys gets better) but this woman is like dola from laputa city in the sky as in shes a momma bear who will sass you while shes got the upper hand and your trapped ubder her 250lb tri barrel rocket launcher which she can hoist one handed! Vallerie gets killed by the traveler but while she is alive you better run cause you cant escape her.

I never finish Ultra Sun and Moon, mostly because I thought that the Rainbow Rocket thing seemed a bit dumb. But hearing what went down in it in this countdown, I discovered that Alt Giovanni is probably going to be this endless multi-dimensional evil that'll never stop. Oh god.

Honorable mention: the cat lady leader of the nyakuza cat crime syndicate from A Hat in Time. When hatkid arrives tracking timepieces she takes it from the player, FREAKIN TAKES IT and tosses a bundle of bills. Every time hatkid finds a timepiece the bosses cats threaten her with a baseball bat and when you go to her the entitled witch lays on thick she wants more and tosses you some more change. She then baits you to go after the timepieces she took from you and when your busted, she puts a hit of 1MILLION on your head, when her cats cant corner you she comes after you with a rocket launcher! Only chased off by the threat of exposure to the police gets rid of her.

Great list. Will have to give you some props for Giovanni. And, for the theory of him in Pokémon go; I’ve actually got something for you. RR Giovanni ended up in Pokémon Masters where not only did he recruit the stragglers of Team Break he also did these things to add to his accolades; - Resurrect Team Rocket (even acquiring the Johto members) - Master the sync stone to get Mewtwo to mega evolve - Master Dynamxing with his Nidoking - Outsmart B2W2 Ghetsis and almost capture Kyurem - Forced Red and Blue to surrender - Manipulate Team Aqua and Magma against each other And he has even more schemes to come. Giovanni was a character that has definitely grew on me over the years and has definitely become one of my favourite villains.
