I personally find One Bad Apple EXTREMELY insulting because when I first moved to the place (which was when I was in 2nd grade) I currently live at and started a new school, I got bullied relentlessly by the same group of people. I tried to tell an adult, but none of them believed me because my main bully was an absolute teachers pet. I ended up having to stand up to them myself, and I ended up getting suspended because the bully tried to make it seem like I was bullying him. It took me having my mom go to the school multiple times and coming close to losing all of her chill towards the principal for anything to happen, yet even then, I ended up just having to deal with the bullying for the rest of elementary school. (Before I ended up getting bullied in 5th and 6th grade before my mom had me switch schools)

Saturnwantsacookie I was born with a form of high functioning autism called Asperger's Syndrome, which wasn't well understood or even really considered an autistic spectrum in the 90's. As such, I was often labeled a 'problem student' due to my outbursts and strong will that I couldn't really help, even today as a much more stable adult. The teachers often berated me, the kids taunted me, and the only saving grace was I was too oblivious to really notice. I DID notice however when they grew too frustrated with trying to handle me that they came up with a solution; shove me in a closet. No, I am completely serious. I spent every day of my fourth grade year locked in a closet in the main office. I was let out twice a day to use the bathroom and grab my lunch. Otherwise, they literally locked the door and ignored me until the final bell rang. This too was a form of bullying because when insults, threats, and unecessary punishment didn't work, I was essentially imprisoned and neglected by adults who didn;t care enough about an eight year-old to try and help her. Like Mr. Enter said, no two bullying cases are alike and there's no such thing as an extreme case.

I can understand why you dislike 'Putting Your Hoof Down' however I feel that there is a purpose to the episode (even if perhaps a bit poorly handled). First of all, I think it serves as a way of showing us that even though Fluttershy is usually very polite and kind (sometimes the point of annoyance), she's bottling up a lot of feelings of anger at the world. If you think about it, almost every time they've ever shown Fluttershy actually being pissed, she tends to go a little over the top. 'The Best Night Ever' is a less extreme example, and 'Return to Harmony' doesn't really count I suppose since she was under a spell. I happen to know (because it's happened to me before), that when you bottle your feelings up, they will come out sooner or later. You'll snap and yell at people for things that normally wouldn't upset you. In my opinion, 'PYHD' was simply Fluttershy's hidden angry side, at it's most extreme. Yes William did basically tell her it was okay to be a dick, but if you examine her I think she has a lot of pent up feelings that she never lets out. I don't recall exactly how the moral was explained, although I would have had it go something like: "Dear Princess Celestia, Today I learned that it's better to get angry sometimes, than to hold it all in until you snap. It's okay to be mad, it's even okay to yell sometimes, but it's not okay to be mean to your friends. Sincerely, Fluttershy" Now that would have made a good Fluttershy based episode.

Eh. I don't blame that rabbit. He has to sit near a house all day and listen to some bitch who thinks that domesticating an animal protects it from harm, when really, she is stripping them from their own free will. This is one of reasons why my idea of a good show is better, because with Battle Fang, he at least understands that nature is better off left in nature and not treated like helpless creatures. He would know that there is a reason why carnivores are supposed to be carnivores and why some animals have to be killed for the sake of a predatory species.

How can anyone not blame the rabbit? I think of all the terrible things in Putting your Hoof Down, the worst thing about it has to be Angel Bunny. I mean this rabbit physically abuses Fluttershy, for Celestia's sake. FLUTTERSHY! Also, while this episode wasn't great, I found redeeming qualities in Pinkie Pie and Rarity, who helped to move the plot along, and the fact that Fluttershy never wanted to be a monster, and is afraid of what she did. I think that of all the character-is-a-jerk episodes (lesson zero, party of one, mare do well, etc.), this one was the most character-building and adventurous, and I think if Fluttercruel had been toned down just a little, it would have made for a real gem of an episode.

Yeah... Rarity and Pinkie Pie blaming Iron Will for Fluttershy's behavior was pretty dumb. Iron Will was just doing his job. He wasn't hoping that Shy would go around and be a bitch to everybody, he just was hoping that she would stop letting other ponies do that to HER. Honestly, Iron Will was the best part of this episode. Kinda hoping he makes a return in Season 5.

I would put One Bad Apple at number two. One stays the same. Their messages hit way too close to home for me, it is a sensitive subject for me too, Mr. Enter. Every time the show has dealt with the topic of bullying it has infuriated me. Honestly, when most things try to deal with the topic of bullying they infuriate me. Basically, don't ever defend yourself seems to be the go to moral because they are probably just misunderstood. Most bullies don't need a hug, they need the shit beat out of them. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. Both One Bad Apple and Putting Your Hoof Down deal with the concept of getting carried away when standing up for yourself. OBA is rancid because it suggests you shouldn't fight back JUST IN CASE they are totally sympathetic. Also, that telling an adult will always work. I mean, you should speak up before acting I guess, but usually adult interference only makes things worse even if they do believe you. PYFD is worse, because there is absolutely no reason for Fluttershy to go off on her friends like that. Maybe if Rarity and Pinkie Pie had actually been trying to force her to do something she didn't want to do, and she warned them repeatedly to back off, but even then. The sad thing is... you can get carried away with 'counter-bullying'. We've all heard the Nietzsche quote, those who hunt monsters blah blah blah. There is the potential for a GOOD cautionary tale, but no one ever does it justice, going too far one way or the other either by allowing the character to go unrealistically over the line... or not even approach it. It is personal for me... because I did it. During high school I was rancorous and if I saw someone bully someone else... I would give them a taste of their own medicine. I'd rather not go into details... but over developed sense of justice. Most of the people I hurt I don't regret doing it too. They were people who did things like... the pepper spray thing. But as I continued that line of behavior my retribution became more severe and what was required to get my attention became less. For example verbal abuse, I don't care how cruel, mean spirited, bigoted, or obscene, should not provoke a physical response. I feel ashamed for that. But even when someone does something physical, there is an upper limit to how severely you can hurt them while still being right. I exceeded that limit... like... there was a closeted homosexual kid that was an underclassman. Someone put a rock in a snow ball and pelted him in the eye with it, hard enough to knock him out and certainly give him a black eye. I think a good punch in the face is sufficient in that case... but what I did to him wasn't even an 'eye for an eye'. It was more like 'an eye, broken tooth, all left fingers, right foot, and scrotum for an eye'. So it would be good if there was an actual lesson here about standing up for yourself and others but showing restraint when it is needed. We never get that. It is either stuff like this, or like Charles Bronson shooting purse snatchers who were trying to surrender to him and being lauded for it. I choose to base my morality off of Death Wish as a teenager because I got sick of shows like this basically just telling you to take it.

You know, with the CMC getting their cutie marks, I think I've thought of a way of doing it interesting. Maybe have one of them get their mark, have the other two get jealous and compete to get their cutie marks, which almost ruins their friendship. When the second pony has hers, the last one is distraught and is desperate to get hers, with their friendship on the line. In the end, the CMC learns that even that they've found their talent, it wasn't that big of a deal and they learn that their friendship is more precious than getting their cutie marks. Looks like I have a fan-fiction to write.

crestofreliability Honnesty is worst element! It should have been "trust"! I hope they'll do something after season 5. That would be cool to have the grown up CMC and others young characters as main characters. There are many: (Dinky, Button Mash, the twins, Diamond Tiara...) and maybe Twilligh as the main princess, trying to learn to the heros the lessons that she herself learned from her mentor...

Putting Your Hoof Down seriously reminds me of Bubblevicious from the Powerpuff Girls except not as good. They both have similar concepts in the most shy and gentle character not being taken as serious as the more aggressive characters, except I think PPG did it better due to the girls job of fighting bad guys and Bubble trying to seriously prove herself, but going overboard and eventually realizing she should be more selective on who she gets aggressive with.

I like to pretend Dragon Quest doesn't exist and that Dragonshy is the only episode to feature a non Spike dragon, leaving the race in mystery. I always envisioned an episode where the dragon from Dragonshy was revealed to be Fluttershy's pinpal and invites her to his hometown, her bringing Spike along to learn about his race. In the end, they learn that not all dragons are brutish jerks while the dragons learn that not all ponies are weak cowards. Spike realizes that he has the best of both worlds and returns to Ponyville happy with that knowledge. Isn't that concept alone a million times better? You could even give the dragons a reason to be prejudice against ponies before realizing they're wrong. Maybe they were once allies and the ponies abandoned them during a war. Dragonshy was a Hobbit tribute, why not another reference, this time to the relationship between Dwarfs and Elves?

And manticores are kind souls who only get angry when they have thorns stuck in their feet? Minotaurs, at worst are only creatures who give bad advice? Oh, and watch Dragonshy, where the mane six are only attacked because Rainbow kicked the dragon in the face. What a vicious predator, despite it not attempting to eat any of them beforehand! This is MLP, not every fantasy cliche ever. It's wrong because it implies that an entire race is bad, and if you applied this episode's moral, it would be to be ashamed of your roots if a few members of your race are jerks, to abandon your own people.

I agree with this completely. I actually somewhat relate on Fluttershy in this episode. That's actually an accurate depiction of how a shy person first discovers 'normal' social interaction. Fluttershy is kind-hearted and doesn't understand the boundaries that ordinaries people set (since her own boundaries are so much tighter). So when she tries to unleash herself, she has a hard time to adjust and goes WAY beyond the line.

I feel for the reasons you have given, Show Stoppers deserves a pass. I don't believe it hadn't shown us what their cutie marks will be. Cutie marks aren't achieved from what talents you already have. The Mane 6 all got their cutie marks from *discovering* something about themselves and that is what gets a pony their cutie mark. Applejack left her family to stay with relatives and only got her cutie mark after *discovering* how much family meant to her, with the three apples representing herself, Big Mac and Granny Smith. Rarity tried to use her tailoring talents but only got her cutie mark after *discovering* the gems and with it her inspiration. Do note how her cutie mark is three gems, not a needle and thread or other fashion themed mark. Twilight was always dedicated to her studies but only got her cutie mark after *discovering* her magical potential, which seeing how before she was barely turning book pages seems to have been an unknown power. Pinkie Pie lived with her family on a rock farm but only got her cutie mark after *discovering* the joy in her heart and the desire to share it with everyone. She said it was "a feeling she never felt before", meaning it was something *discovered*. Fluttershy had never been on the ground before that day, so when she met the animals for the first time and realized her strong connection with them it was a *discovered* talent. Rainbow Dash was fast and brash, but it was the first time she had been that fast, so she *discovered* her need for speed. So no, the CMC don't have their *hidden* talents yet. Their natural talents might have something to do with it like in Rarity's case but they have yet to discover that part of themselves which will make their cutie marks come out.

I dunno, I kinda liked the scene where Fluttershy badmouthed Rarity and Pinkie. It showed us what that shy, quiet pony was bottling up inside and decided to tell all those things to them! It was actually a very mature scene, something this show needs more. But, yeah.. I can see why you didn't like that episode. All the ponies WERE acting like complete bitches towards Fluttershy! I totally agree with you on"one bad apple"episode.I was bullied in elementary school and nobody did jack shit.The most infuriating part(besides what you said about pepper spray, knives and guns)was the fact that bullies were praised for the most minor things they accomplished, like they were babies.For example:bullied kid learnt an extra paragraph for a class?Too bad, it's not enough!Bully learns one extra phrase in a class for the first time, and teacher's reaction is"Oh wow, amazing!"

I know why "putting your hoof down" is not on all worst episode lists, or at least not the top of them. It's all up to a persons interpretation of the EP. I remember hearing a podcast were the host felt a connection to the episode. Not to say she thought that the episode was a good one, or how she liked how the characters was treated in it, but there was a connection. The thing was that Fluttershy was being honest about her feeling, she was also venting pent up anger she had. For an introvert to do that is a big thing, and most often they feel horrible for doing it after. (I know the feeling) The problem this eppside had was that it did not translate this idea vary well. One big this was that Piny and Rarity sould not have cried, they sould have been shocked, confused, and conserd over how their friend was acting. Iron will should have been treated better too.

True. I didn't think Putting Your Hoof Down was that bad. Probably because I felt it was more of a relatable scenario. I also didn't feel she was saying their lives had no purpose. it's like the friend who's passionate about video games or One Direction or dare I say, my little pony. People, even friends, think it's silly, but won't say it out loud. but when angry, it comes out in blind rage. I think the one thing that I would change is not have Iron Will be a villain. And pay the minotaur. After all, he DID succeed in making her more assertive.

Honestly I think that Magical Mystery Cure was the worst episode. Why? Because if your going to make a 26 minute long episode thats entirely music, the music needs to tell the plot. If you were to listen to the songs, you wouldn't know wat Twi is doing to fix them. The best you could get from them is- Life in Ponyville doesnt shimmer, Twilight did something wrong, and each pony has some weird new destiny, and Twi does who knows wat to fix them, also, Twi became a princess. My least favorite song fits here too: A True, True Friend. Why? Its catchy? Yes, it is, but all the everypony SOMEHOW knows immeadiatly that "OMG! MY FRIEND HAS HER DESTINY SWITCHED AND NOW I HAVE TO DO SOMETHING TO FIX HER!" How do they know what to do? Its dumb. Also I dont like Allicorn Twi, but tats different. Crusaders of the Lost Mark did ALOT better at this. Just look up "all songs from Magical Mystery Cure" and the same for Crusaders of the Lost Mark. Dont look at the video, only listen.

While not liking the episode is 100% opinion, I'm gonna disagree with you on the songs. Firstly, I'll get this out of the way. All the characters automatically knew the song because IT'S A CARTOON. Yes, that excuse actually does work here. They've done this is countless other episodes. How did all the townsfolk know the lyrics to the first song in Pinkie Pride? How did Pinkie know the lyrics to the song in Pinkie Apple Pie? How did Cadence and Chrysalis know when to sing the This Day Aria duet when they were in totally different places? I'll even bring in another cartoon, Steven Universe. In that "Do It For Her" song when Pearl was teaching Connie swordfighting, Connie automatically knew the lyrics to the song. The same thing happens in just about every other cartoon with songs, and because it's not real and we don't have the time or interest to explain each and every lyric and have them memorize it, it saves time and it's a lot more interesting for the viewer if the characters automatically just "know" what to sing and when. Next, you said the songs didn't explain the story... that I also disagree with. If someone were to listen to all the songs in order, they would get that Twilight woke up, her friends have apparently switched cutie marks (and believe it's there destinies), Twilight doesn't know how to solve the problem, and she figures out how to solve the problem from the magic of friendship or whatever. Then Princess Celestia has Twilight undergo a major change to fulfill her destiny, and all is well in the end. That's basically the whole story, padded out with some dialogue and visuals. It's not the best episode, but there are better reasons to dislike it than pure bias.

I'll admit that the moment in Dragon Quest when Spike was bullied for being different and "not being like other dragons" genuinely angers me. I have Autism (on the high spectrum), and as a result, I tend to have parts of me that are different, like me enjoying some things that aren't masculine and not enjoying some things that guys are stereotyped to like like sports. And seeing someone being judged for not exactly being masculine and being different feels awful and can be a bad message to kids. Kids who are like Spike in the episode will feel bad for being different when they may already be bullied. Did the writers not realize that putting in lines like "I'm not like other dragons? Oh not even close. But why would you want to, Spike?" might be a bad idea for a show that kids are gonna be watching and adults (who may have been bullied) might see the episode as well.

The Media Monitor You're not like the other kids. And why would you want to be? Does it really sound THAT bad? It's actually something that you can relate to. Oh. Now I realize you might have meant it about your disorder. I suppose that is the wrong way to get the moral. Spike not being like the rest of the dragons might be similar to the difference between a kid with and without a disorder, but that's just a part of them, and they both have to accept being that way. The moral, as I understand it, isn't "why would you want to be like them" as in "why would you want to not have your disorder", but more of a "why do you have to have similar interests to them". You don't like football, and that's okay. Why would you want to like football like them? Why would you want to laugh off others like them? I don't know whether you see my point, but I wanted to say that you are great the way you are, as long as you are a good person. Anyone who bullies you is not a good person whether they have any disorders or not. It is they who should change, not yourself. I do not have any disorder that I know of, but I can kind of understand how you feel, as I too have been bullied in school. And know that I sympathize with you.

Dominiola Another thing I meant to point out is that another way I was different was that I never was a sports guy, and since my family and relatives are, any time I go to a family get together, it feels awkward when my male relatives are watching foot ball and I feel bad for not doing so and instead hanging out with the women in my family. I still hang out with the guys. Just not by watching sports.Also, it always bothered me that Spike was being teased for doing things that are somewhat effeminate, like wearing an apron or cooking sweets. I know guys who cook and do things like that and there's no shame in it. Here's what I always got out of the episode. Spike: I don't act like other guys? Pinkie: Oh, not even close. Apple Jack: But why would you want to, Spike? Rainbow Dash: *Laughing at Spike...(Puts sunglasses on)...like a bitch*

The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well wasn't a bad episode. The bandwagon against it was formed by a very vocal minority. It isn't good but it by no means is a bad one. Feeling Pinkie Keen also isn't a bad episode. In fact, just from a plot and lore standpoint, there isn't anything wrong. Twilight is trying to understand a form of magic that is beyond magical knowledge. In a fantasy world like MLP there is nothing wrong with that episode. Some people take it as a defense of religion which is moronic. Literally the main complaint I hear about this episode are "Christian themes." People cite when Pinkie asks Twilight to have a little faith. Faith is putting confidence in the place of doubt. Twilight didn't think she could make the jump and Pinkie asked for Twilight to believe her. Honestly, TMMDW isn't that bad. It is average compared to other poor episodes in the series. As for Feeling Pinkie Keen, people had to pull problems from the outside world to criticize it. Neither of those two episodes should be anywhere close to this list.
@DrShaym

halofornoobs93 _The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well" is bad because it tells kids that if one of their friends is being mildly annoying, then they are justified in wrecking them emotionally. As Mr. Enter pointed out in his review, the Mane Six didn't even try to talk to Rainbow Dash about how egotistical she was being, so for them to go to such extreme lengths to take her down a peg in the way they did just comes across as mean. Rainbow Dash didn't deserve that. In "Feeling Pinkie Keen", Twilight is painted as "close-minded" because she refuses to accept that Pinkie has a supernatural power. The problem is, as Twilight explains, magic has a set of rules and logic to it and it can produce predictable results. If something is observable, testable, and predictable, then it is not supernatural by definition, so within the context of the show, magic is not supernatural, and it is perfectly reasonable for Twilight to expect the Pinkie Sense to be testable and predictable, if it even exists. There is nothing close-minded about that, but by portraying her as such, the show implies that it's somehow wrong to disbelieve something _even when it's perfectly reasonable to do so_. The ironic thing is I would argue that Twilight was actually being more open-minded than anyone else in the episode because she actually took the time to investigate it, rather than just accepting it as true on face value as Spike did. But the show implies that it's bad to even investigate it as Twilight is injured numerous times, as if being karmically punished for doing so. The worst part is that after Twilight fails to disprove or understand it, she just accepts it as true, _which is a terrible way of thinking_. Something isn't automatically true just because you can't prove that it isn't. If we all subscribed to that way of thinking, we would all believe in leprechauns.
@halofornoobs93
@halofornoobs93 9 жыл бұрын
Dr Shaym Is there a place where you guys copy and paste this from? Seriously, it is the same argument every time. You guys are finding problems where there are none. Yes, Twilight is close-minded in this episode. She refuses to accept something observable as real. Spells have rules and logic to them but not all other forms of magic do and this has been shown a couple times throughout the series. Magic is never "Supernatural" in fantasy worlds if you want to go down that road. Clearly, in this episode, Twilight doesn't understand this form of magic. She tries to prove something observable isn't real which is a problematic way of thinking in itself. There isn't anything wrong with accepting something observable at face value. You may choose to further investigate and determine a cause if you wish to do so. There is also a pattern to it as explained by Pinkie. She just doesn't know all the variables. If anything, this episode just shows how bad Twilight is as testing things and that she has a long way to go in her pursuit of knowledge. The observance of something proves its existence and trumps EVERYTHING else. Finding the cause and pattern come after. I watched this with my niece the first time and she took the episode for what it is. I have heard he opinions of two other family members, both of whom are in the target age range for this show and they both liked the episode and didn't take whatever moral or agenda a few bronies claim to find in the episode. Also, the absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence. I am not referring to that in a religious sense either. The history of science has quite a few examples of things that existed and the proof wasn't found until years or centuries later. People take Twilight's side as the side of logic and reason but if you actually watch the episode, you will see how flawed and harmful her way of thinking really is in that episode. The episode isn't great if you apply the plot to the real world but that right there kills any argument because it takes place in a world of fantasy with a different set of rules. As for MMDW, I don't see where you got that idea from. Rainbow Dash was incredibly arrogant which is not good especially when people's lives are on the line. The issue with the episode is that we don't know how long it had been going on prior. I agree talking to Rainbow Dash first would have been a good idea but it probably wouldn't work anyways and would have eaten up time. Rainbow Dash's arrogance and ego would have eventually hurt someone and almost did in the episode. I agree that their method wasn't the most sound, it wasn't all that bad either with an ego like hers. I am not calling it a great episode. It isn't, but it also isn't a bad episode.

halofornoobs93 I don't consider the Mare-Do Well episode bad. Actually, it was this very episode that got me to actually care for Dash. Yep, before this I didn't like her character, yet this episode got me to sympathize with her. She was relatable. It was a good delve into her psyche. Honestly, yes it gets way more hate than more deserving episodes. However, it had a bunch of little problems. Yes, Dash wouldn't have listened, but just one scene, one small scene and a few lines of dialogue with one of the characters actually 'trying!' to talk with her would have made their decision more likable. {It was kind of stupid, but wasn't nearly as malicious as most people paint it out to be.} Second: The scene in SugarCube Corner. If they had switched it up and had the characters praise the others (Such as Twilight praising Mare Do Well's strength and such) that wouldn't have sounded so malicious. Third: The part where Fluttershy did the flyby....Okay, dang, they really wanted to beat her over the head with it. Fourth: Having a parade for the Mare Do Well (Which really hints that the Mayor was in on it too) kind of defeats the purpose of their schemes, you know, not to brag, which is what a parade kind of does. Instead of a parade, just have Dash confront the Mare Do Well after another save or something. It's little things like that that hold this episode back. I'd probably give this episode a 7/10. Good, but not great.

halofornoobs93 Again, I liked that episode, but it kind of paints Twilight to be...kind of a really bad scientist, which is a tad out of character. (The scene in her lab as an example.) I could get her rather jerkish behavior since season 1 and 2 Twilight was kind of full of herself when it came to intellect and she did need to learn this lesson. 9/10

I had huge problems with "One Bad Apple" as well, also due to personal experience. "Oh boo hoo, the bully is excused because he/she was bullied before!" "Oh, standing up for yourself makes you become the bully!" "Oh, why didn't you tell anybody in the first place!" okay, 1. That is not an excuse for bullying someone, in fact it's a cop out and shoulders blame onto the victim, which is easier to do. 2. Well, what else would you expect in order to stop it? It's like that Casey Heynes kid, bullied relentlessly until he finally snapped, and got extreme praise for it. 3. Victim blaming again, what if the adults do nothing and / or ignore the victim? and then have the gall to turn around and blame the victim if he or she takes action?

I'm going to admit it: I liked Putting Your Hoof Down. But they did take Fluttershy off the deep end and went too far. It could have been tackled with a little more grace. I agree that putdowns based on one's purpose in life are too much. And for Pinkie and Rarity to be friends with her after that is pretty unbelievable. I know the point they were trying to drive home was "You can assert without being an asshole." Making Fluttershy an asshole would have been one thing. But she wasn't an asshole. She was just cruel. I find it funny when adults review made-for-children shows as though they were produced by Martin Scorsese, Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg, and Alfred Hitchcock. I know some episodes are simple (lazy even), but that's the point. They're made to be simple and easier to understand for children. I agree that some of the episodes aren't as good as others, but they're only 20 minute episodes intended for kids. Besides, even adult fanfiction writers fuck up characterization (Double Rainboom). It's very hard to get a character exactly right, especially if the adult viewers are going to scrutinize everything they do. And sometimes an episode's plot might seem forced just to get through the 20 minutes. It's not a movie with months/years of planning and filming. Writers might have a long and detailed plot that they need to cut to fit the time frame. Some elements that might make it seem more natural might simply be too long. I wish this wasn't the case, but it is. Some don't and they have way too much filler, but perhaps a good enough plot wasn't concocted by the time the episode needed to be made. It's possible. Once more, I'm not saying some of these episodes weren't bad (I liked a few), I'm simply saying I find this to be unfair. If you went into an expensive restaurant, ordered off the kid's menu, and gave the restaurant a bad review based on the simple meal you ordered, then you're an asshole. That simple meal was made for a kid who might not want something fancy and ornate, not for you necessarily. You're going about this as though it was specifically made for bronies. It wasn't. Kids can be easy to please, and that's the basic purpose of the show- to entertain children. I love MLP and I love watching it, but some people need to stop taking it so goddamn seriously. It's not Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones. Just watch the ponies do what they do, it's usually (assertive Fluttershy) lighthearted fun.

ThePokemon12149 How was everyone out of character? Everything seems to fit fine. -Twilight had some smaller freakouts, when she was afraid to disappoint Celestia. -Twilight's basically told her friends she was late with her homework and presented it like it was the end of the world. Of course they don't take it serious. -Spike saw no other way out but to call Celestia for help. -Celestia caught her student abusing her magic and making a mess that would make Discord proud. Granted, Twilight scratching off the cupcake frosting, like she was Adrian Monk was a bit too much. This episode was very important from a writers point of view, because now everybody can send friendship letters and they did not have to shoehorn Twilight into every single story.

Putting Your Hoof Down isn't great, but... I think Iron Will alone at least give it some redeeming value. He was fun and actually did some good in kick starting Fluttershy's backbone developing. It sucks that he got cheated out of being paid from what's effectively a paradox though. Compared to One Bad Apple's black and white perspective on bullying which barely even scratched the surface on how to handle a bully and Dragon Quest's quite frankly racist undertones, I think there's much worse. And that's not even getting into how Boast Buster's is just... awful.

Most of your arguments do make sense, although I probably wouldn't have considered any episodes on your list one of the worst. I also wouldn't dump some of those episodes on the list just because their moral has been done before (The Cutie Pox). Sure, it would have been more interesting to have a completely different topic, but that doesn't make it inherently terrible. I didn't look at it this way, but I can see why you would consider the premise for Dragon Quest being hypocritical towards what the show itself stands for. I didn't like the writing simply making all (grown) dragons dicks either to give Spike an excuse to stay the same. (Which was actually already established in Secret of My Excess, but still makes the whole concept of him being Twilight's personal scribe a mess. It either sounds like a bad idea in the first place since he'll eventually get older and become a dick, or it should be implied that there are dragons that stay in their Baby state permanently - but Spike seems to be the exception, since we don't see any other baby dragons.)

The most infuriating thing about the CMC finally getting their cutie marks is that they basically all got the exact same cutie mark for a talent they’d never shown signs of having until that specific episode, and their REAL talents were left by the wayside. You know what, I actually understand your criticisms of One Bad Apple, but guess what I did the EXACT same thing as babs did, I know what that felt like, Why did she keep bullying even with out DT and SS being there? It's called upholding a reputation, The Moral? ok yeah that wasn't that good, but..what did you expect? remember this is a show for little girls(I still question how lesson zero got through though) Just because she was bullied doesn't give her the license to do so? yeah, but I think this was used to portray a different moral, a BETTER moral, just because someone is a bully doesn't mean they're not human, and that they don't have problems or reasons to be bullied, and really thats why its one of my favorites, this however probably has no effect on your opinion because the reasons I liked this episode are personal ones but hey, I tried

I don't so much "dislike" any particular episode as much as I "find more reasons to like other episodes better" through no fault of the not-as-highly-rated episodes. My least-liked episodes are simply my least-praised ones. If you break down the episode barriers and compare and rank each individual event and character portrayal separately however, then that all changes, as there are several specific things I can't stand, but no one thing or even small number of things truly fully drags any complete episode down in my opinion. And one more thing: G1 is actually quite awesome. Not as much as FiM, but it's still very good. G3, on the other hand, truly is the abomination so many people think it is.

Well, for starters unlike the others this one was mean-spirited from its pre-title sequence, which none of the others claimed. In PYHD, all (and I do mean EVERY) instance of abuse happens only to character who don't deserve it, at all, and some things are just plain piercing (FS getting slapped, and FS insulting Rarity & Pinkie's reasons for living). I didn't see Fluttershy as brainwashed because in all honesty, there was no buildup towards. 2 ponies, now Fluttershy is mean. :/

The irony of the complaints about "Show Stoppers" hits me like a truck after "Crusaders of the Lost Mark" XD It would also seem that Mr. Enter's opinions on "Dragon Quest" aren't as unpopular as he initially thought, as later episodes have gone out of their way to show that yes, there ARE good natured dragons and that not all of them are mean-spirited brutes.

10. It's still better than most of the episodes on the list. 9. I found this episode to be dull and cliche. Also, I would like to think that Twilight was being naive. 8. The treatment of Spike was awful in this episode, but then there's Opal's toy mouse and some ketchup... 7. Still better than Ponyville Confidential. (yes really!) 6. I find this cheesy, but forgettable all around. By the way Cindy, the CMC aren't stupid... 5. It was supposed to teach Rainbow Dash that the fastest pet isn't exactly the best pet because Tank actually cared. 3. Sadly, one of my favorite Japanese voice actors dubbed Snips... 1. Fluttershy is my favorite pony, but I know that she crossed the line around Pinkie Pie and Rarity.
