@@dim2389Nope. The government should not abolish the death penalty. Take drugs for example, drug is never a good thing and people take it. If people take drugs in their own countries, its fine cause its none of my business. But if they come to Singapore, they obey by our rules. If not for this death penalty, Singapore would be in complete chaos with any random people doing drugs on the street. I 100 percent support this death penalty. If people can't accept the death penalty, there's always a solution. Don't come to Singapore.

I burst out laughing when she said local drinking coffee from plastic bag. I found it weird too when I was a kid. Because local coffee price is cheap, seller can’t provide the kind of paper cups like Starbucks. While traveling in Brazil, I also struggled with local culture of having late dinner after 9pm !
@leewn2319
@leewn2319 Жыл бұрын
Actually the drinks in plastic bags is not so much about price of paper takeaway cup. It’s more for practical /mobility by delivery drivers, u can carry anywhere, hang in your car, bicycle handles, motorbikes, tree branches or anywhere convenient for construction workers etc.

Usually to avoid the queue for early lunch but i choose to eat late lunch to avoid the queue AND have a shorter working afternoon cos after lunch you are usually sleepy :D As a Singaporean, i also find Russian and Asian culture quiet similar in some ways.

1. As a Singaporean, if somebody greets me every 10 mins I would be weirded out too. 2. We do eat at the office desk too. Not every office has a big pantry to eat in, especially when you're working in SMEs. When you tabao back office and the pantry is full, you can only eat at your desk. Also some people like to eat while watching videos/browsing the net with their work PC. 3. Not every Singaporean can take spicy food either. You definitely have a choice when you order food in Singapore. Just tell them no chili. By the way, Mala is considered quite spicy even by Singapore standards. It's originated from Sichuan and the name "Mala" literally translates to Spicy and numb. 4. Lunch timing usually varies for different people. Some people just prefer to eat at odd timings to avoid the queue. But most people definitely eat between 12-2pm judging from the crowd.

I'm glad that you like it here in Sg, the Weather ... Food wise, I guess you still got plenty to learn. Like what is Really nice... Why some stalls in a Hawker Center got people in the Queue.... these are the Secret you have to find out... though the working culture here is kind of different from other countries. But we are trying to Balance it. We call it Work Life Balance... And we are still working on it. Hope you can adapt. Hope to see you around.

Very interesting. Of all the people I've spoken to, the Russians were the ones who have been the least fond of Singapore, but their complaints made a lot of sense to me. Singapore is a polar opposite to Russia in many ways: climate, country size, and food. My former Russian colleagues couldn't wait to go back to Russia where they didn't have to live in such a cramped city anymore! These days, I don't expect many Russians to be fond of Singapore considering Singapore decided to impose sanctions on Russia for the "special military operation", a move fairly gung-ho move considering Singapore usually errs on the side of diplomacy. I'm also aware that there is a popular video by a Russian KZfaqr about Singapore's underground that exaggerates quite a fair bit, which is more negative PR for Singapore presented to Russian speakers. Still, I hope to see more interviews with Russians about how they view Singapore, be it positive or negative!

Some people go out for lunch early to beat the lunchtime crowd. Also, sometimes some companies have this unspoken rule of staggering the lunch time for their employees so that the office is never left empty. Someone is there to take any calls that may come in during that period.

Hhahah one reason folks get lunch at 11:30am is because places get INSNAELY CROWDED at 12pm especially in the CBD. So you either eat really early or you get lunch late. I've tuned myself to get lunch later from 1pm+ because 12pm - 12:30pm is MADNESS in terms of crowds. I'm one of the rare SG folks who don't really do spicy because I don't really enjoy it, also I've found I'm a supertaster, so spicy causes me more pain than other people, which is why I don't do spicy food very much.

I am a local and shocked to hear her colleagues greeted her each time they met her...perhaps cause she is sweet and pretty looking. Here in our country, even our colleagues wouldnt do so to one another. I somehow believed many Singaporeans ❤ and treated foreigners (esp from Western countries) in a better polite way. I had experienced a few such cases. I was behind this Eurasian guy at a 7-Eleven..He waa just like all customers, not chatty with the cashier at all and just getting his stuff. The young lady was so friendly and sweet asking him if he wanted a plastic bag (no charge then). When it was my turn, I asked in a polite nice way for a plastic bag. Oh gosh, u should have seen her face..black as charcoal and just put the plastic bag on the table in a very rude way..I was so 😡pissed off I felt like turninf her into a frog..Of course I said thank you though really unwillingly Another incident was at NTUC I frequent...a cashier who always had a stuck up face said to a Western lady "bye" after the lady paid the products..Well I was 😯so surprised. Sorry for stating my such comments which might aroused many 😡😡😡from Singaporeans..
