You forgot to mention the reason the town is called warm springs and why Rosevelt came to warm springs. He had polio and believed the warm mineral springs of Warm springs GA could help his health. Warm Springs, health resort lies about 20 miles (30 km) southeast of LaGrange, near Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park. The springs discharge about 800 gallons (3,000 litres) of water per minute at a temperature of about 88 °F. Roosevelt first visited the spring in 1924 he organized the Georgia Warm Springs Foundation in 1927 as a nonprofit complete medical community the 940-acre facility was purchased by the state of Georgia in 1973. The Little White House was built at Warm Springs in 1932 for Roosevelt to use while he was taking his treatments; he died there on April 12, 1945, and the house became a state historic site in 1948.

This is great. I've lived in Atlanta most of my adult life, and I drive to Warm Springs two or three times a year to spend the day. I'm very seriously considering retiring there in the years ahead.

I can see why people would retire in Columbus. Great town and a great locale!

Thank you for sharing this wonderful place with others to enjoy if they are unable to go in person. My wife and I have gone to Warm Springs annually for the past 14 years. We stay for a week at FDR state park and go for our ride a bouts over the beautiful countryside. The Little White House is a must visit, the gift shop has wonderful books and videos of FDR. The Marine security guard hut reminded me that 14 of the Marines who stood post were later killed in action ww2 battles and one company commander was awarded the MOH. We are missing our trip this year so for due to not wanting to stay in a cabin at the park.

Wish you'd shown the Springs themselves, and the Institute. It really is a beautiful area, and I thank you for the tears of nostalgia. I used to live only a few miles from Warm Springs, and I miss it there, so very much. In addition to the Bulloch House, there's a terrific little place for lunch, called Dinner's Ready by Chad, across from the Hospital. A number of fun shops, too. Thanks again!

Hi Carole. I went to Dinner's Ready by Chad and loved it. I didn't have time to do any video while I was there. I also totally agree that the Institute and pools are amazing. I simply didn't have enough time to include them but I plan to do a separate video on the Institute soon. Thanks for your comments!

I went to the college there over a decade ago. It was a wonderful experience and I made a lot of friends there. I took employment training classes, drivers education, and education learning classes. I also took weight lifting classes and swimming classes as well. We also worked on and off campus as well. Even on the weekends, we'd take these trips to the mall in Columbus and some friends and I would go along with them and we'd also stop at a Walmart on the way back to campus. We also had a lounge in the dormitory but not a whole lot of activities to do. Most of fun activities would be down out the recreational center. Pool tables, basketball gym, raquet ball court, a bowling alley and a dance room where they had these restaurant style booths with tables and they actually served food there as well. The other fun experience with friends was hanging out after classes were over and watch movies, play video games and sometimes, we'd order a pizza and watch something together. It was one of the best times for when I was growing up and I sure do miss it there And all my friends. I miss them too.

We recently moved about a half hour from here. The Little White House tour was so good! It's a small house, but our tour guide was so knowledgeable and we learned so much. Did you say the FD Roosevelt park was small? It's around 9,000 acres! I must have misunderstood! Beautiful views there and a nice store. There is also a Fisheries Center right near downtown which has a small aquarium and a nice trail to walk around and look at the various fish they are raising. Great little town!

Thanks for your kind comments! I really enjoyed beautiful Warm Springs. I should have been more clear about the park. I meant to say that Dowdell Knob was fairly small, not the entire park. Thanks for pointing that out! I plan to do another video soon on Columbus, Georgia and other sites in the area.
