@@supersanic1254 Yeah, they could've spent a bunch more to get Intamin to make an even less reliable ride. Honestly, I was there Friday and the ride ran all day with only a minor hiccup or two. That's already a better experience than I had with TTD.

Always a risk to go to a park just for a new ride. New rides tend to have issues in the first season

Any smart person would wait to plan a trip to CP to ride TT2. New roller coasters can and will break down a lot. This most likely won’t be the 1 st time this season.

Apparently it’s the trains scraping the LSM magnets. The track has a sway to it during the multi launch. Spots of blue tape have been spotted on the magnets suggesting that the modification will be made under the cars to allow for that sway

That's part of the issue; the excessive uneven wear of the polyurethane compound coating on the wheels is causing too much lateral movement and LSM contact. I've also heard a piece of the polyurethane compound delaminated from a running wheel. 20.86-inch wheels going 2000 rpm would throw a piece of the compound at almost 240 mph. The front car's second set of wheels has no safety covers. And the set below each rear car rider does not have enough safety cover coverage to stop a piece from flying up towards the floorboard at the riders feet; depending on the size of the piece, it could penetrate the floorboard.

I was there Saturday and Sunday. There is a fin near the transfer track completely taped with the words “taped 5/12” on it. If the park is saying train modifications, my guess would be that the trains are clipping the fins.

@@KICoasterGuy exactly and it's nothing serious to what steel curtain is going through....which is at my home park. I'm pretty sad about that situation of the ride being closed this season, but besides that I'm so confident that TT2 will open soon. I was gonna go this month but I think ima wait until August to ride it

@@MrCrash-hz8xy Yeah it’s a bummer about Steel Curtain but hopefully next year it’ll all have been worth it. I haven’t been to Kennywood yet but it sounded like that thing was just never open.

Was there Thursday and Friday. Rain and wind kept it closed all day Thursday but it more or less seemed to run all day Friday. Got two rides in. I think I like it more than the original despite the lack of a powerful launch. I sort of doubt it but it would be nice if the modification was to add some weight to the trains which would help with the shaking, which as you said before is definitely there but nothing that bad.

I definitely agree it’s a better ride. It’s a bummer they’ve had to shut it down temporarily, can’t wait to get more rides on it. It would definitely be nice if whatever they end up doing helps with that shake.

A fast ride like this needs to go through lots of rigorous testing over and over to get its ride license qualifications.

@@KICoasterGuy All the testing in the world does not replicate running full trains of riders continuously for 12 hours a day. So what didn't show in testing shows up after actual use/

They'll will put smaller wheels on the trains like falcons flight. Also go to 115mph to avoid stress on the top hat. Cedar point agrees to go up to 101mph on initial launch to give guests a better rollback, to compensate for weeker third launch

I think the trains weren’t designed to handle the dynamics of the ride because this happened so fast.

Rode it 3 times on Friday, May 10. First wait was an hour, second wait was 1/2 hour, third wait was probably 2.5 hours. There were a couple times when the trains briefly stopped running (barely enough to notice). The silver train was removed around 7:30pm (no idea why) causing a longer delay. I absolutely LOVE this ride. My only complaint is the twists feel pretty forceful especially with arms up. They really slam you to the right (I'm the small side, so maybe it's not so intense of larger people?). It hurt my shoulder blade. On the second and third rides, I put my arms down as I went up the top hat. As a result, the twists felt less violent, for lack of a better word. That aside, that feeling of weightlessness on the spike is incredible, and it's long enough to really take in the experience. That backwards acceleration is shockingly powerful. Really amazing ride and better than Dragster in my book! I hope everyone gets a chance to ride it soon!

Well, the train in the past never really hit the top hat at 120 MPH, that was just a marketing gimmick, now that the train really does travel 120 MPH over the top hat it might just be something you’ll have to get used to, unless they decide to add a slight trim to the slope into the spiral.

@@Jcjc-lr4bf It was a noticeable and amazing difference. Hands down as we went over the top hat is ok by me:) Still came out of my seat but avoided the slam. And also, no phones while waiting was a great experience too. Such a relief to not be glued the thing for a while.

going on a Kings Island & Cedar Point trip, ill be at CP on the 22nd-24th so hopefully by then? Hopefully that "This weekend" in the statement is just this week and the weekend, Wont be too disappointed if its not, I can always ride it in the future.

I’m sure there’s a way but I imagine the majority of the testing will happen on the track. Good point though, I’m not sure what all processes they’ll go through here.

Well, that didn't take long... lol. I haven't ridden it yet but judging from all the review videos I have watched, there are a lot of rattling complaints. Also, if you watch as it is launched, shortly before it goes up the first transition of the tower, you can see the whole train sway back and forth briefly, almost like there is an imperfection on the track. I am sure it is nothing, but it looks a little sketchy to me. One last thing. I can't remember if the original did this or not, but did the first transition always sway back and forth like it does now after the train goes over it?

That section is all original Intamin track and the previous trains were heavier so I think so? They’re keeping it pretty vague but it definitely sounds like the issues are with the trains. The rumors I’m hearing are that as it’s currently configured, the rides putting too much strain on the wheels, but again, not confirmed.

I’ve got a trip booked for Cedar Point for June 3rd and 4th. I sure hope this is open by then. Coastermania is June 7th so you would think they would do everything they can to get this back up and running by June or else you are going to have A LOT of pissed off people.

My problem with the ride is Cedar point opening it up so soon especially with all the downtime Dragster had i cant imagine that it was going to have some sort of issue.

The thing about that is, it doesn’t seem that soon to me at all. They tested this thing for months. Seemed like they started testing a lot earlier than average, ostensibly to avoid an issue like this, which makes me wonder what’s changed so quickly after opening to the public.

I am just happy cedar point went with the worlds largest ride manufacturer. They have deep pockets and will figure it out ...folks angry dont understand that this is just now another major player in the game. Cp knew there would be issues but zamperla probably did it for cheap....but let them work out the bugs. We might be seeing a transition into zamperla doing major projects. Go next year when its all running perfect and i have no doubt it will!!!

So let me see if I got this str8, CP is mad at Company A they bought a prototype ride from with issues, SO THEN you hire Company B to reimagine your prototype ride that’s has NEVER done a project this big with prototype trains, mean while Company A has now work out there issues is now killing it. HMMM 🤔

It's really difficult to get over bad blood. Top Thrill Dragster was plagued with issues from the get go, maverick still has reliability issues and the whole design flaw with the track that delayed opening, and the Shoot the Rapids debacle that almost drowned 7 riders and sent one to the hospital.. Intamin had brought pad pr and sunk cost investments for their products, I don't blame cedar fair for not wanting yet another headache.

I love how everyone on here knows more then the engineers do and by accordance to youtube, everyone is a top engineer that makes and fixes these things everyday. Gives me the laughs every time I see comments on here. Nobody knows what is the issue or how long it will be, and even if you did, you aren't an engineer fixing it to say whether it should or shouldn't have happened. LOL! The ride may have more kinks to iron out and then in the off season they'll most likely make more adjustments to it in the first couple of years. There's no reason to disclose what is wrong because unless you an engineer you wouldn't understand anyways. But leave it up to youtubers to know everything about anything while sitting at home. LMAO!!
