Good point about picking up seedlings by the leaves NOT the stem. Your experience and sage advice means a lot to your listeners!

That's great that you're making a start - good luck. And it's wonderful that you're doing this with your four-year-old - it's so important that children understand where food comes from and get an appreciation for the wonders of the living world.

This strategy is only necessary if you want to start the plant inside. Many plans can be sown directly into the ground in your garden depending on the plant and your current weather! :)

Thank you so much. I realy needed some of this information. I have found it vary difficult to find advice for moving from actual seed to seedling. This is where most all my plants die. Most videos I have come across are for when you should transplant outside. Thank you as well for the little bit of common sense about gradual interdiction to placing the young plants outside. I really don't know why that never dawned on me, lol.

One thing that inspired me most about this video along with many others on this channel is noting the difference between american gardener youtubers and gardeners from other countries. I'm an american learning more practically through people who aren't americans. Although I've learned so much information through youtubers from where I'm from, you guys have the roots.

It really isn't. Pick something nice and easy to start with - cress or mustard seeds in egg heads for example. Or sowing radishes into pots once the weather is a little warmer. Start easy to begin with - it should be fun, not hard. :-)

He kept them in the hot press (where the hot water tank is), its nice and warm in there. Once the first seeds have germinated, they need light immediately.
