If you are neck sizing your fired rifle brass, do you trim the case before or after you neck size. Thanks

I started reloading pistol ammo and your method of backing the sizing die off a half a turn is great for pistols but not so good for rifle brass. It does not set the shoulder back and leaves the cartridge to long. I had to purchase a Wilson case length die to find this out. Have you shot these cartridges or tried them in a case length die?

Hi Spud, I've been watching your videos for a while and I appreciate all the wisdom you've passed on. I am about to go into reloading and I guess it can be a bit of an info-overload. The way I understand it is there are; De-capping/re-sizing dies. Both full size and neck sizing, Bullet seating dies, Crimping dies, Neck bushing dies. I have watched your video but I am unclear on the need for the neck bushing dies and their difference from a de-capping/neck sizing die?

Everything you said was correct, but there's a lot more to setting up a FL sizing die than that. Namely incrementally screwing the die in further until you set back the case shoulder and achieve the desired headspace.

njgrplr2007: What you're saying is true, however, what do you do if you've screwed it all the way down, to touching the top of the shell holder, and you still haven't been able to set back the case shoulder enough to achieve the desired headspace?

SeriousSchitt we had to machine off about 5thou off of the face of mine to be able to bump the shoulders

@@SeriousSchitt sometimes just touching the shellholder isn't good enough. Lower the ram and turn the die down one-eighth to one-quarter of a turn more.

I think you need to turn it half a turn the other way.

Really..... The guy was "neck sizing" you need to read you reloading book again if you tried to use this method on something that needed full length resizing...

For as much money as those dies cost they come with a cheap and badly designed lock ring.
