I've been commenting about how much I hate Resolve for years. I want to copy the orange color of one text clip to the other purple text clips and I can't. It's not intuitive. There is no KZfaq video about it. Search did not help either.

I've been learning DaVinci resolve for several years now and a long time subscriber to your channel. When I started watching this video I had very low expectations and assumed this would be a advertisement for your premium products - which to be fair it is. However, honestly, I was blown away at the information I got out of this review of someone's video. In my opinion, you should do one of these a month, because they're great advertisements for your premium products and simultaneously they are a great learning resource for the wider audience . Keep up the good work!

I dig it. I bet you won't get a lot of hits because it's not sensational, but hearing why you use fades, or slow pans - that's good stuff.

Really appreciated this review! I'm currently learning DaVinci and I feel pressured to use the really fancy stuff in the program b/c I feel like i should. Yet something as simple as a still picture and a panning shot is just as effective. Very nice reminder!

I like this format Casey :) Nice to step into a gentle critique instead of the "10 ways you screwed up" style. We get to see something we might never have come across otherwise, and we get to spend 10 minutes chatting with you too. Win. I have to say getting audio right is perhaps the hardest part of any KZfaq journey. There are so many ways to "get it right", but a lot more ways to get it wrong. So much trial and error and disappointment. Hard enough to stump up the courage to record yourself and edit yourself and listen to your voice over and over during the edits... But even worse if you messed up the audio tech. Can be hard to find a setup that works well a) with your voice b) in your space and c) with your level of fairlight skills!

Lots of good feedback, interesting and informative. Best tip was about slow pans, camera moves, etc. Absolutely agree, and it's my #1 thought for any series of takes where we want the camera to move. Especially when lots of this was from still images, a very slow pan is far more effective at matching the contemplative nature of the piece. The tip about filling the frame with the interest area is also solid gold basics. And, completely agree on the audio and Resolve can really tune that up. I'd have to say the music under the full video was a little less pro and found it somewhat distracting from an otherwise interesting subject.

Excellent video to start off with. Ashleigh is definitely talented as is her husband. One slight difference I would try from Casey's suggestion with the slightly off balance drawing at 6:13 (even if just to discount the idea), rather than crop the easel out and tilt up, or rotate the image to straighten it, I would leave them as they are and pull back slightly from the artwork so it remains the focus of the shot, but it expands the surrounding to give a little tease of the art studio, maybe with a bit of soft focus as to be accepted as a deliberate inclusion.

Showing the end result and then and then showing the process is something I just picked up on. I make shorts of my live stream and just recently made one where the beginning was, Baulers Gate 3 Volo take out your eye, then went back to whe he started surgery with my dual streamer and I commenting. I would love to see more videos that teach how to make better shorts from a live stream. 1 minute cuts that hit hard.

Can you make a video about how to properly setup your audio in Davinci? I struggle a lot with finding which dB-levels my audio need to be for it not to be too quit or too loud.

Hey Casey, new Sub here. Is there a way to get the Media Page/Pool's video thumbnails to reflect only the _duration_ of a clip & _not_ treat every clip as a default full-length source clone when you scroll thru it? Thanks for your time.

Hey there. Nope, the media pool thumbnails are always going to show the full duration of the source clip.

hey man, I know this sounds stupid but uh, I have a question, I don't know anywhere else to ask tbh, and sorry, but, do you know a fusion bug where you already DID something for a long time and hard work, but then, its done, its all fine, THEN IT ALL BUGGED OUT?!!?! its like, you did it, then it disappeared of just pure black for some frames, or just stutters to the bottom left corner. how can i fix this problem? I've searched youtube, but noone seem to have a similar problem like me, i am so sick of this aaaaa, sorry btw, and have a good day, and great video as always (edit: the specific problem is about masking with polygons, or other masks, also, as i said, i have tested the mask before it all works fine, but it then dissapears, its not the resolution)

Hi. I did the editing on the Landscapes by Ashleigh video. (I'm the student/husband). I used a Canon camera that used C-Log 3. So I input that color space. I didn't use any LUTs. I just did the color grading by eye. I made a lot of adjustments, including some masking, grain removal and white balancing to make sure the skin tones as well as the painting colors were as accurate as possible.
@dondacurator

@@Kinstruction imma check the video out ...I think I've seen some canon option and Kodak cams ,just wondering what GoPro would be called ?
@Kinstruction
@Kinstruction Ай бұрын
@@dondacurator I just mean the camera I use is capable of shooting in log. The color input I use in DaVinci Resolve just matches the specific type of log footage I use so it makes the footage look as it should. Then after that, I color graded for what I was hoping for was very natural and color accurate grading.
