Top Windows 10 Shortcut Keys

Save precious time and get the most out of Windows 10 with these top Windows shortcuts. I start basic and then move on to some lesser known but equally valuable Windows shortcut keys. While researching this video, I discovered some new shortcut keys in Windows that I now use on a regular basis. Hopefully you'll find the same.
Editing
• CTRL + C to Copy
• CTRL + V to Paste
• CTRL + X to Cut
• CTRL + Z to Undo
• CTRL + Y to Redo
• CTRL + D to Delete
• Alt + Shift + Up/Down Arrow to move bullets up and down
Find and Search
• CTRL + F to find text
• Windows Key + Q or Windows Key or Windows Key + S to search or just press the windows key
Selection
• CTRL + A to Select all
• CTRL + Click to select multiple individual items
• Shift + Click to select multiple items
• Shift + Arrow to select text
• Shift + CTRL + Arrow to select entire words
Windows Management
• Alt + Tab to jump between open windows
• Alt + F4 to close a window
• Windows + # key to bring up app on task bar where the # corresponds with the position on the taskbar
• Windows Key + arrow keys to snap a window in different positions
• Windows + D to see desktop. Toggle back and forth
• Windows + M to minimize all windows
Browser Navigation
• Alt + left or Alt + right arrow to navigate forward or back
• CTRL + T to open a new tab
• CTRL + Shift + T to bring up closed tab in browser
• CTRL + Tab to move to next tab
• CTRL + Shift + Tab to move to previous tab
• F5 or CTRL + R to refresh a web page
Zoom
• Windows + or Windows - to zoom in or out
Virtual Desktop
• Windows + Tab to open task view
• Windows + CTRL + D to add a virtual desktop
• Windows + CTRL + Left or Right Arrow Keys move between them
• Windows + CTRL + F4 to close virtual desktop
Display
• Windows + P to project to an external monitor
Others
• CTRL + Shift + ESC opens task manager
• CTRL + P prints
• Windows + L to lock your PC
• Windows + E to launch File Explorer
• Windows + G brings up Game Bar which allows you to screen record

Great tips! I learned several new ones, the basic ones I already use, as I'm a typist... and as you mentioned, keyboard commands are a time saver. :) I really liked the 'virtual desktop' command, never knew that was a Win10 feature.

Great tips, I definitely will use these shortcuts at work. The way it was explained , it was very comprehensive for me. I use copy and paste a lot at my work , however I was using the right click on the mouse. Thanks very much for this.

After the new update, in Windows 11 the creation of a shortcut to my desktop ( icon ) is no longer to be found when I open the three dots? How do I create a shortcut icon on my laptop?

Another really useful shortcut is Win + Shift + S, which allows you to take a screenshot of specific areas you want (I'm not sure which version of Windows introduced this feature)

It does absolutely nothing when I press it. Win10 v 20h2(latest). No "Game Bar" whatsoever. Before you ask, I am pressing "Windows" and "G" simultaneously. Windows key works fine for all other shortcuts.

I came here because of those moronic videos of Bright side where they show you how to get a different desktop but not how to navigate through the additional desktops you create. To get windows: Open you internet browser and type bestkey355 Hi there. Very helpful video! However, I have a question. When I boot up my laptop, my laptop isn't able to read my brand new SSD. I already tried different solutions like downloading the F6 drivers into USB drive, initialize the brand new SSD on different computer. However, none of them work. What can I do please?

Here are some shortcuts that I use all the time in Chrome and on KZfaq (and I think most can be down on the Mac): 1. Ctrl + Shift + O opens the Bookmark Manager in Chrome 2. Ctrl + Shift + B toggles displaying and hiding the Bookmarks bar in Chrome 3. Ctrl + H opens the History of web pages you have visited in Chrome 4. Shift + , slows down KZfaq videos in increments of 25% up to a quarter of the original speed 5. Shift + . speeds up KZfaq videos in increments of 25% up to double the original speed 6. Left Arrow Key skips back 5 seconds when you are watching a video on KZfaq 7. Right Arrow Key skips forward 5 seconds when you are watching a video on KZfaq 8. Up Arrow Key raises the volume of a KZfaq video 9. Down Arrow Key decreases the volume of a KZfaq video

CTRL scroll wheel for zoom in and out. Try Windows shift M for toggle of windows minimise. Window Home to minimise all except priority window you are focused in to expedite from slow.

I discovered by experimentation a way to highlight a column of information in a Microsoft Word doc. Might work elsewhere but haven't yet tried that. DOES involve the mouse. Click where you want to start the highlight then press Alt while dragging down and even right or left depending on what you need highlighted. Avoids text being highlighted all the way to the left as you drag down when you don't need that. Perhaps you're looking to delete a particular column of text. Great way to accomplish that. Highlight then delete. Cheers!

Regarding “zooming”, I just hold down the CNTRL key then scroll up or down with the mouse wheel. I think pushing the wheel away from you zooms in (larger) and toward you zooms out (smaller). This seems to work on ANY screen including the desktop.

Thanks for the shortcut Keys. Is there a shortcut key to unlock the keypad or the screen ? Sometimes, both my screen and keypad get locked-up. Now, I have to reboot. The keypad doesn't have any sensor to tap on.

Just watched your video on Windows 10 Shortcut Keys and Liked it. Is there a shortcut key for “go to search bar” within an app? ie. I’m in Amazon or some other app and I want to search for something else within the app is there a keystroke to get backup to the search bar?

I need to know how to turn off the annoying shortcut keys. Fat thumbed something and next thing I know I'm looking at some stupid text screen. Another time it jumped to another window and deleted everything I just wrote. You are not saving much time with these keys and all the milliseconds you might save, just might give you a whole 5 minutes throughout the work day. You still need to move your hand around the keyboard or stop and look at what keys you are hitting so you do not hit the wrong one. About the same amount of time as clicking the mouse.

Windows + G does absolutely nothing on my computer. No "Game Bar". Windows 10 v20h2. I have uninstalled or disabled all telemetry other than Windows Update, however...maybe that is why? If so, then I clearly do not want it. I'll install something else that is safer.
