what killed the game for me was the entrance videos, yes they wanted to make it feel like wwf no mercy, but the reason they had short entrances is due to memory limitation.AEW had no excuse

Fact is, you could just download the entire AEW roster as CAWs on WWE 2K and have better looking models and then you have more match types.

I think one big problem the game has is that they wanted to make a wrestling game and went “but what if we put Mario party mini games in it” taking up resources and man power to make something that feels like bloat in the game and that no one wants to play. Yeah instead of giving us more characters let’s put more useless mini games in! Yeah as some one who bought day one I was so disappointed.

I was one of the people who bought the “Elite Edition” when it got announced and thought all future DLC would be free but for whatever reason it wasn’t. Just wanted to us to spend more money than we already did for buying the most expensive option

I saw this game free on the ps+ store, played half a match where I was pento el zero miedo vs Jon moxley, and deleted the game. It’s absolute garbage. Sorry AEW but your game sucks a$$

I knew when I was playing 2K23 and had no AEW fight forever that I probably wouldn't play much of this game, and only 20 hours later I have stopped and kept playing 2K. The game just got added to June's PS plus catalog and heard from a bunch of friends that don't play wrestling games that they think this game sucks.

So much promise, they should have just imported the CAW suite base from No Mercy. When they talked about the blocks I thought career mode would be like no mercy where you had over 100 archs depending on W/L.

The trailer and pre release footage was awful, fans we're dellusionally hyping it up pretending it was the best thing since Here Comes the Pain when anyone with a brain knew it looked undercooked... they do the same thing when it comes to the weekly shows

Aside from its story mode basically just being Kenny's otaku Yakuza wet dream, with almost zero actual correct characterization of what the wrestlers themselves are really like, the actual gameplay has the quality of a bad N64 title. Its a demake. Literally the only reason anyone would defend it is for one reason, and one reason only, brand loyalty. And that is a terrible defence for a product being bad.

I knew from the beginning this game was gonna bomb... people thought no mercy sounded fun on paper until people realized the days of that style of gameplay is long over...2k now has the perfect blend of arcade and sim.

I didn't know how bad it was until it was free and I played it. Almost hilariously bad and mismanaged. Full of bugs. Trophies wouldn't unlock

Just from the gameplay I saw from the content creators like DenkOps, I had no desire to ever play Fight Forever.

All Kenny had to do was tell Yuke's and Geta to make No Mercy/HCTP with AEW wrestlers. Instead, we got a half-assed game with unnecessary mini games. If I wanted to play mini games, I'd boot up Mario Party.

Yeah, after I unlocked all the characters the game just was boring. Also to level up your creations you have to play Road to the Elite. Which sucked as it's not that fun after 3 or 4 runs.

There has to be another game where there's: 1. More fluid and fun gameplay 2. A longer, more interactive Story mode 3. More creations 4. Better online play and features 5. More match types if need be 6. Stadium Stampede is offline 7. No more minigames 8. Yes, even a GM Mode

The biggest problem is they have too many gamers that were in Tony's ear and talked him into making a game before their brand was established enough to license out to a game company that'd pay for it all.

i wrote a parallel world fanfiction about AEW Fight Forever on the N64 where it uses the N64 GBC connector and the Gameboy Card Reader to get new fighters from trading cards and they suggest a battle mode where two people buy a pack and draft a team and run a tournament on an episode of Dynamite.

I did had faith in this game in the beginning but when half the roster is not in the game and it pretty much felt it was a rush job and i find it funny in the Playstation store the game has a 2.3 star rating.

The minute with subtitles popping on the screen was annoying, but the video was pretty solid. I'm pretty sure you can pick up a copy of this atrocity for $5 at Walmart now, if not, Gamestop.

Worst preorder of my life. I got 38 hrs into it. I love Owen hart and couldn’t stomach enough matches to unlock him. And the dlc prices were predatory as eff. Tony Kahn owes me $80

I told people it was going to be rubbish but they wouldn't listen. Bare bones game and then the audacity to have 4 season passes with barely any extra content is crazy. I had no idea it was free on plus this month as I no longer have plus but I doubt I'd ever play it.

The irony is that Fight Forever is a microcosm of AEW as a whole. It has good “match types” and “exhibitions” but not a lot of content and nothing is really fleshed out. Then during the matches, they’re poorly executed because of bugs (botches) and the graphics aren’t that good (the physiques of the wrestlers). Then the only “story” you really have had to do with the Elite and it sucks because it’s the same shit for five years and was bad in the beginning it was just new at the time. And much like the game itself, AEW has never been bigger than the first day it showed up.

We shouldve known it was gonna be bad after their first tryout at gaming with elite gm. That was also a disaster and they pulled it from app stores after 1 year.

It's clear they didn't try. Probably why WWE had drop Yuke's in the first place. Most of the time when you play some of the old games from Yuke's they have the same customization and nothing really felt different. It took them over a year with 2k to make the customization better and they had to skip over a year just to fix everything. AEW made a decent game but they really drop the ball.

So Yukes is one of the perpetrators in having glitches and no good graphics?

Game really lacks content that you'll get easily bored by the game in under a day or two. It didn't help that they put some of their high profile wrestlers in a freaking paywall, like holy hell! Imagine wwe putting guys like drew, sami, seth as dlc in a wwe2k game. Also what's with the dumbass minigames that has nothing to do with wrestling? They could have use that time and resources adding match variety instead.

I pirated this game to try it before purchase and i feel sorry that i shortened my SSD R\W capacity because of it. So i still feel ripped off.

Not letting Aubrey run the game dev on the AEW side = the problem. There's an irony here, Kenny , as a gamer, shouldn't have been so involved...just like fans of wrestling in general probably couldn't run a show.

My problem is that the explodes barrier wire match was so rushed you barely had time to even play the match a good match type wasted

Fight Forever more like Flop Forever

Personally I think it was a mistake to go the No Mercy route (plus using short inferior No Mercy style entrances), I would much rather have them follow Here Comes The Pain (the goat wrestling game for me). The other think that killed it was the anemic create a wrestler mode that was completely unsatisfying. People like the presentation and the fantasy of wrestling, the game had half assed entrances (So poor presentation) and a weak create a wrestler (so poor create your own fed/world fantasy). And as some who bought the Elite Edition the DLC prices afterward just felt like a rip off.

I say this without any hyperbole: This is one of of, if not the worst video game(s) of all time. The game fights you the entire time you are trying to play it with some of the worst controls I've ever seen, looks ugly as sin, lacks any soul and seems to exist just to sell DLC. I mean FFS you know you've fucked up when they give away the game as a freebie with your PS5 sub, A YEAR AFTER ITS RELEASE. When I took it to gamestop to get it the hell out of my house, I was legit surprised they offered me money for it, instead of asking for money to take it off my hands.

AEW would be better off investing in Fire Pro and making sure AEW talent shows up on the next ones.

This game was one of the biggest disappointments ever

I was so hype to play this game since its release but always talked myself out of it due to high DLC prices and large backlash. Snagged it for free last week on PS5. For a free game, its extremely entertaining for about 30 minutes. I just could not imagine paying more than $15 for the game in its current state though. Add the damn DLC wrestlers in for free geezuz) I also compared it to another game that released horribly with bugs, being Fallout 76. The MAJOR difference though, is that Bethesda never gave up in trying to add to that game and get players back. Even to this day that game is loaded with content that I did not have to pay extra to use. (FARRR from perfect, but very enjoyable) This game though, has doubled down on trying to sell you content as if it was the best and most anticipated game of all time. You would think they would want to get this game in everyone's hands and keep dumping content updates on them. Just does not add up.

I’ve been playing universe mode with my myplayer, and if I’m being honest I’m still not bored of it😭❤️💯. Since they added more things since release , like the little things example Samantha as a ring announcer. Dawg when she says my character name *chef kiss* azreal “the anarchist” black😈🔥. Can’t forget about community creations either. Wwe definitely did their job on 2k24. Now aew imma be honest I played the game for a cool month then deleted it so I can free up storage 💀

This game even if given more time could not have matched WWE creation suite which was built upon for a decade if not more. They should’ve just nixed it altogether and provided a wardrobe feature where updated attires could be obtained from a downloadable shop thus given players access to new attires for people like Jungle Boy, Christian, Luchasaurus etc. they also shouldn’t have wasted resources on mini games which was not needed. Instead they needed more match types, a backstage brawl, more wrestlers, added announcers and more resources into their career or a universe mode. The foundation of the game is solid there just isn’t enough to do

As someone who has been involved in game development, AEW Fight Forever feels very half-baked, and I have a hunch things fell through, cause let's be real, building a game engine from the ground up costs a lot more than use an existing engine like Unreal to create your dream game ideas. And how ironic that only the gameplay is decent, cause that reflects AEW all so well. Another reason why this game failed, I think the hype machine may have also backfired in this aspect. WWE 2K was in a slump, and the thought of an AEW game hitting it out of the park, that was the perfect situation for any AEW hardliner fan. They get an enjoyable game, but more importantly, they get to flip WWE a massive middle finger, which honestly is the only thing these hardliner fans care about these days. The game's lackluster presentation, combined with the resurgence of WWE 2K with its 2023 iteration, talk about a massive hit to the egos of these hardliners. In summary, what I think contributed to the failure of Fight Forever is the undercooked state of the game, combined with overhyped expectations from its audience. Honestly, I personally believe the game should be given another year to polish up the game engine first, and with the benefit of hindsight, seeing WWE 2K 2023 work so well could have allowed them to take notes and further touch up on their own game project. Although even so, these AEW hardliner fans are most certainly the hardest people to please, so the game project was probably doomed from the start.

On Wrestling Game, Sometimes I feel weird why WWF Smackdown 2 was the one of best wrestling game ever despite many flaws like : Slowwwwww Season Mode, Slowww Loading Scene and Many unneccesary Cutscene until you have a match, Opponent got a lot of beating then rolling like healing faster than Wolverine, Heavyweight Championship almost non-existent in Match Card, CAW always lose in Match Skip etc. It was a bit paled in comparison of WWF No Mercy (Fortunately Inspired Patch make Smackdown 2 much better)

The Fact that AEW fight forever Made WWE2k20 looked a little cooler by comparison I mean 2k20 had tons of glitches heck they even had the Seasonal Pass that looked cool For my opinion for AEW I wish they could have done 1. They could've made entrances longer and more exciting 2. More backstage areas like brawls outside the ring like in the crowds or hell even go everywhere 3. More Arenas 4. Longer and better road to elite storylines that made sense 5. Updates wrestlers 6. Have a better pin Meter instead of just pressing buttons hoping and the chances of kicking out 7. A better stadium stampede

Really all they had to do was make a free multiplayer wrestling game.. make a battle pass, skins, make fun multiplayer modes like live 8 man tournament, tag tournaments, throw in some rankings. This woulf of saved them money by not creating a full tradition wwe style game.

I remember the rumor of this game going to have a multi year life span before they drop a brand new game because they didn’t want to do the same yearly releases as every sports game. For how much hate this game gets I still enjoy it every now and then(I just post clips). I definitely get more out of it when I play with my friends online because we embrace the chaotic nature of the game even when it lags/glitches. If they ever decide to keep adding to the game for a fair 10 dollar price tag, I won’t be mad; I ended up getting all the dlc for like 30 dollars because I held out for a sale. Ultimately it’ll probably be another year before we get another teaser trailer and 3 years for a whole new game. 😅😅

all they had to do was to provide a decent single player experience, and a workable online where people can have simple matches. Maybe a manager mode.. The key though was to have a big CAW database, with all the necessary tools to make any wrestler, with the moveset that comes with it (thats not that hard, even some PS2 games already had all of that), and the ability for people to quickly share their creation. Look at fire pro world, that game has a big and loyal online following, and its not like it cost 100 millions to make it. Fight Forever gameplay is not bad, if they had the stuff i just mentionned it probably would've been a classic. And then maybe next year or in a couple year they release another one more fleshed out, with a big story mode, a lot of voice acting, like they do on the WWE games.
