#15 in Turkey would have been such beautiful homes. What a terrible waste. The town in Alaska would be fun to explore. Glad to see some of these are now heritage sites. Great list. Thanks and Happy Easter :o)

I have actually visited Pyramiden once in 2010 , and it felt just like time had stood still there. It is one of the most unique places I have ever visited, and it strikes me how fast things can change even in a coal town. I was glad to have been there.

The road in Centralia has been covered over with dirt back in 2020 due to lack of respect, vandalism and trespassing.

I was so surprised that you included Terlingua. I used to work in Big Bend National Park at the Chisos Mountains Lodge about 17 years ago. It has a cute little general store and Tivo's Place has great Mexican food. 🌮🌯

These are not scary ghost towns. An extremely scary and creepy ghost town would be like the ghost town of La Noria, in the Atacama Desert of Chile. The cemetery there is thought to be the most disturbing and creepy cemetery on the planet. Bodies are out in the open, their decaying and rotting bodies in plain view. So many legends of demonic entities being seen around the town. The spirits of the dead are said to be angry with their graves being disturbed and have been seen by many people who have visited the town. And it's in the most inhospitable place on Earth. No rain, no groundwater. Nothing but sun and desert heat. And it's where in 2003, the infamous 6-inch human fetus was found. It has so many abnormal mutations, that no one knows how that baby could have been born alive or dead. Now that's scary.

First x-ray station in the southern hemisphere? As the town in question began its life in the 20th century, according to this video, it cannot really be held to have had the first x-ray facilities in the southern hemisphere, as such were already available in Australia and New Zealand in the 19th century, just a few years after the invention of such equipment.

I rather think it is. Even Angola, to its north, lies entirely in the southern hemisphere.

The tropic of Capricorn runs through it. That's 20 degrees south of the equator.
