In Top Gear's latest sports car challenge, Paddy, Freddie and Chris were each given a racing co-driver, and Harris drew former F1 world champion Damon Hill. Here's some bonus footage that didn't make the final edit, including: camels with syphilis, Murray Walker impressions, and a little known place called Wetwang.

Indeed! Mark Neale is a filmmaker whose done various films on MotoGP. He got Rossi and others into cars to drive. He said they sort of "relaxed" when doing a mundane job of driving, so the interviews were far better than if they were sitting in the team motorhome with a Dictaphone on a table. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iqumqreZyrWdkWg.html

As a Formula 1 fan, this is the best 6 minutes of Top Gear I've seen for years. The "tapes" from this drive with Damon is a gold mine.

Damon Hill is the nicest man you will ever meet, I met him as he was walking down Staunton Beach for a Surf, I was just getting out after my surf and like a complete and utter fan boy I couldn’t help myself but speak to him, he was amazing so nice and a total gent, him and Chris Harris is Automative heaven. More Damon and Chris chewing the cud please TG.👍🏻

I knew Damon when he was racing bikes and even put him together with Mike Agostini who provided him with a TZ250 for Club racing and gave him a job as a motorcycle dispatch rider. Damon was always honest and humble because the family didn't have much after dad died. Then when I was PR man for Suzuki GB and we needed a rider to ride a Suzuki Katana in a Shell Agri Oils tv commercial I called up Damon and we went off for the day to a farm somewhere in Herts with Melvyn Hayes (It Ain't Half Hot Mum) as the farmer and Damon as the space rider. Just a nice guy and very quick too.

OMG that was awesome. It was just a pleasure to watch. I can't imagine how wonderful it might be to just sit in the back seat (assuming one could actually contort themselves to sit in the back seat of a 911) and listen to these two chirp away during the drive. I'm proud to have grown up in an era when there were three channels on the TV. Today we get treated to wonderful BTS footage like this, which would otherwise have ended up on the cutting room floor. Bravo Top Gear!

great comments re Murray Walker. When Murray moved out of London he called me up at motorcycling weekly and offered me all his magazines and stuff from his loft. It included some of his dads stuff too. A fantastic collection. Several little van loads. We only had a little van. What an absolute gentleman.

Damon Hill- “I didn’t read newspapers, I didn’t watch races for five or six years. For most of the noughties I was detached from everything,” he recalls, quietly. “In about 2003 I sought help. Therapy is about learning to express yourself, what you’re feeling. Now I have moments of anxiety but nothing like it was.

Read Damon's book. Didn't really like him beforehand and thought him a second rate driver. But it was a wonderful and honest account of him and his frailties. He Knew he was no Schumacher. He never pretended otherwise. Lots of humility and he's had lots of suffering. I've warmed to him.

My all time favorite F1 pilot and my all time favorite test driver. My son was born in 1996 and my wife had strict instructions...do not give birth on a Sunday. And she didn't.
