Who would ever know in 1975 I would move from New Zealand to Canada in 1999 and live in Calgary and travel on the Trans Canada Highway almost every day, and live very close to it. Thank You Gene Pitney, you will always be Number 1.

He was good. Died of a heart attack when on tour in the UK. His last show in Cardiff received a standing ovation. Went out in style.

I have many CDs with all of Gene's memorable hits but for some unknown reason this song isn't on any of them so it's great hearing this & seeing him at the same time. Gee he looks great here in his white suit. I'm sure he'd still be making hits today.

Hello Pike. I see you found this clip. Early January 2020 a Gene Pitney Gold Album was released and immediately reached No 30 in the UK Official Top 100 Albums Chart so yes, Gene Pitney is still reaching the charts today!

It's very hard to find indeed on cd. I had 12 cd's and it wasnt on them. It was on a 70s compilation !! 👍

Trans Canada Highway is on the double CD I put together with Gene in 2003. It's called GENE PITNEY, BLUE ANGEL THE BRONZE SESSIONS and was issued by Castle Music. The set also contained Gene's recordings for his own label, Pitfield, making their CD debut

Mesha Tea Here are some answers for you questions. 1) No, I watched it because I love the song. I consider it one of his finest but it has become relatively obscure in his back catalogue. 2) As far as a dance routine goes, I imagine since he was doing as much blow as David Bowie around this time he might have incorporated some of that artist's sinewy funkified hip action and maybe a little of the front on karate style schtick that a still trim Elvis was cuttin' sick with in Vegas. On a personal note can I just point out to you that you come across as one of those ugly chicks with a smart mouth who is pissed off with the world coz the world of the pretty girl is closed to her and despite what people say, intelligence and personality don't mean fuck all to a chick, just ask Janis Joplin. Get thee to a nunnery.
