AVROTROS is a Dutch radio and television broadcaster, founded in 2014 from a merger of AVRO and TROS. From January 1st, 2014 the name of the merged broadcaster was used in joint programmes. AVRO was founded in 1923 as the Netherlands first public broadcaster. TROS started broadcasting in 1964. Toppop was a weekly AVRO pop program that was aired between 1970 and 1988.

TopPop was the first regular dedicated pop music TV show in the Dutch language area. Dutch broadcaster AVRO aired the programme weekly, from 1970 to 1988. Presenter Ad Visser hosted the show for its first fifteen years.
World famous music artists performed on TopPop: ABBA, 10CC, Bee Gees, The Jacksons with Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Earth & Fire, Queen, Golden Earring, Boney M, KC & The Sunshine Band, Chic, Donna Summer and many many more.

As a kid that was 15 in 1987, living in Chicago, this track would get some excellent mixing during the era of House music. It's all but made for it, and nearly inevitably, one of the stations playing House on the weekends would have a DJ spinning this about midnight. Great times... I still have cassettes someplace with WBMX going until at least 2am on a Friday or Saturday night. Great upload!

This song has stayed a pure banger through years! I immediately fell in love with it when I heard it... on the French radio channels! I bought the 8'20 European extended version then. What a music memory!

I like how this song has basically two interesting sounding synth lead parts. You hear the first one and you think oh that was cool, then we get a little break and they go into another interesting synth lead weaving through the background and around Taffy’s vocals. 👍

She doesn’t sound American. Somebody needs to fix up on accents. Not a powerful voice like Heather Small, but she has a presence, can dance & perform. ❤

@@tarstarkusz, synthesizers are definitely "instruments". In many ways (if you know anything about them) they are more complex and require more skill than many "old fashioned" instruments. Imagine playing keyboards, then layering many versions on top of each other, then, in a live setting, remembering the correct sequence to play OF those recorded layers. Good luck.

Santiago de Chile, 1986 in spring. 17 years old. Partying with my best friends and me dancing with the girl who made me dream at that moment. In the background, it sounded taffy with this theme. A couple of years ago, I saw her again. Her eyes have not lost the shine and her smile is still wonderful. What memory can be better than that of youth?

A good friend of mine as a DJ at a gay bar in St Louis. He introduced me to this song and so many more. A lot of the great songs didn't get much, if any, airplay.
