Devon, you are not only my favorite armwrestler (second all time next to Brezenk in my opinion) but you are a scholar of all the nooks and cranies of the techniques of armwrestling. I remember a video from a few years back where you talked about how you didn't do well in school. But you really are a scholar of armwrestling. I have watched several of your seminar and instruction videos and I don't think there is anybody that I have seen who does such a thorough and articulate job of communicating and teaching about all the dimensions of great armwrestling. I am a university teacher and I know good scholarship when I see it. Not all scholarship is involved in books. Thank you for all that you are doing to teach adults and kids the tradition of armwrestling and how you are getting them involved. I admire the fact that you care about more than simply your own winning. Peace

Devon is a great athlete. I'm sure he would have excelled at any sport he wanted. Or even academically, if that was something that interested him. I knew his brother a little bit and the guy was a genius. It seems like the family was blessed with good genetics.

These type of exercises are SO good for forearms! I’m wondering: what weight do you guys use? My experience with too much weight in another rotation exercise: I got a wrist injury right at the spot pointed out by Devon. It’s annoying and takes a longggg time to heal, if ever. So I’m doing low weight, like only 20 pounds or so, 7,5-10kg. Focussed, high reps and 3 - 5 sets. Even in that way the forearms start burning, that’s great. In general I prefer high reps with low weight (doing controlled) over low reps with much weight (doing too fast). Especially these toproll exercises are tricky for the wrist. Once your hand accidentally goes to the outside, you really risk a wrist injury. Stay strong all!

Devons style is going for wrist with outside pressure because his hands are big and wrist is very strong , only a dude with monstrous hook can destroy devon with a low hand grip, but dude gotta be hella strong because in wrist battle I'm not sure anyone has a stronger wrist as of now than laratt , pro tip for anyone with small hands and elbow never go for an outside high grip battle with a dude with huge hands and thick wrist bones

Devon I've been doing my workouts in this manner now for about a yr. My right is taking it pretty well. My left is a different story. I've gotten to a point where the rolling of the wrist u explained is in so much pain once my wrist is pulled down mainly in practices and tournaments so I give up the match so I dont hurt anything any worse then it may already be. Any suggestions on how to get through this pain? I feel I'm at a wall and cant get past it. Thanks

Hey Devon, three questions: do you still recommend this rep range? Is that range of motion enough? Is your current routine inspired by Pavel Tsatsouline (stay well short of failure, only intense in the 2 weeks before the competition)

Hey Devon, I know this is a fairly old vid, but could you speak more toward that type of injury? I have that in my right hand - not due to armwrestling - and it almost prevents me from toprolling without a lot of cup. I've also lost pronation and supination range of motion in that wrist and straight side pressure without any cup also hurts it. Feels unstable. Supination work makes it feel a little better, but I can't really load it up and can hardly do any have pronation work. Any recommendations? It's been this way for a long time. I don't see a lot of info on wrist injuries in armwrestling - usually only elbow, so I haven't found much info. Thanks.
