I tend to like big bellies in knives intended to chop, so, for me, the Power Eagle has it all over the reverse curved blade geometry of the El Chete. So I agree with you entirely!

"How could we enter 2020 with a bang". I don't think anybody will forget January 2020 when it all started. I think I'm going to order the El Chete today because it's on special at my local online dealer and they don't come on special very often.

the power eagle is also a good vegetation clearer as the necessity arises

I love the handle on the power eagle. Its preference I guess.

So Dan, if you were packing in a couple miles and going to build a shelter. Would you rather pack a Junglas, el chete, Tomahawk, hatchet, or axe.

do your self a favour and get an old version of the Power Eagle, IMHO a better version. I too found the handle a little problematic, though a simple solution, I wrapped mine in camo form and it transformed it straight away. The old version will perform so much better, its full flat grind is designed to chop and will leave the new version for dead chopping wise.

About to buy a large survival knife and have it narrowed down to a few. Curious why the junglas is still your go-to survival knife even though the armageddon won the head to head matchup against it in one of your previous videos. Is there something I am missing with the junglas? Another good video. Keep up the good work. You're helping people make informed decisions.

I just don't trust Tops knives for some reason. I'd rather have a $60 kukri from Nepal any day. Hands down. Never could figure out why Tops did that funky Power Eagle handle!!!

Powerlifting and knives, that's hell of a combo! What are your records btw.? As for the knives, I fell in love with the El Chete and just had to get it. Took almost a month for it to be delivered to me from the US, but now it's been a year since I got it and it's still "my prrrrecious". Sure, it may not be SUPER-ergonomic, is heavy and slow, won't cut through vines and anything less thick than a wooden stick etc., but I totally love the beast.

Kinda bothers me that they passed up the opportunity to name it the El Chop-o.

I dislike the squarishness of the Tops handle. The cords are a joke. How can they invent that. They are elastic. Paracord , thumb method is the way to go when using a lanyard on a large chopper. Vibration is a no-no in a chopper. I would rather use a hatchet Fiskars X7 , no shock at all (no discomfort). Stay strong (mind also), but watch out for the joints with all the heavy weights. 53 years here and have lifted weights for decades. The muscles handle it, but the joints are the weak link when getting older.
